Zinedine Zidane believes that Deco's absence for Barcelona's visit on Sunday is good news for Real Madrid and joked that he hoped Ronaldinho's illness would continue.
The Portuguese international is suspended for the clash and Zidane reckons that the Catalans will miss his influence in the midfield.
"For us it is better that Deco does not play," the Madrid star said. "But they have other players that can do well in that position.
"If Ronaldinho is sick for another three days, then even better. But I think that it would be a shame if they do not play because they would add to the spectacle.
"They will be thinking the same thing about Raul, but hopefully he will return to training soon."
Zidane knows Madrid have to win if they are to have any hope of winning the title this season and believes his side can cut the gap at the top of the table.
"We want to and we are going to cut the difference between us and Barcelona. We are nine points behind, but on Sunday we want to make it six," he continued.
"We all know what it means to beat Barcelona. I want to win the game, but nothing more.
"If we win then we will be back up there, that is the most important thing, because the league will not be over.
"We still believe that we can win the league, but we will need to fight until the very end.
"Winning 1-0 would be fine. The important thing is to win and then we shall see if we can cut the goal difference.
"If we want to win the league then we have to win this game, because if we are only six points behind them then anything can happen."

David Beckham is refusing to give up on his side's title chances as Real Madrid prepare to face Barcelona on Sunday.
The clash a6 El Santiago Bernabeu which is live on Sky Sports 1 is being billed as a title decider with Barcelona currently nine points ahead of Real in the table.
Barcelona can virtually wrap up La Liga if they can avoid defeat in 'El Clasico', while Real will be aiming to keep their slim title hopes alive.
Beckham believes Real still have a good chance of catching Barcelona at the top of the table and he will fight until it is mathematically impossible to overturn their lead.
"I think there's a chance [of catching Real] and we have got to believe there's a chance until the last whistle is blown in the last game of the season," Beckham told Sky Sports.
"I think we wanted to go into the game as close as we can and we did that last weekend winning [at Albacete] and them drawing [against Real Betis].
"Even if we go and win on Sunday they are six points clear with seven games to go and it is going to be tough, but if we do win and cut the gap to six points they may get a bit nervous.
"But they are a great team with some great players so we'll just have to see what happens on Sunday."

Real Madrid and Barcelona both look set to receive major boosts ahead of 'El Gran Clasico' on Sunday with the news that their respective skippers, Raul and Carles Puyol, are on course to play in the game.
The duo were given little chance of featuring at El Santiago Bernabeu due to injury problems, but following intensive recuperation programmes appear ready to defy medical advice.
Puyol strained ankle ligaments in Spain's World Cup qualifier with Serbia & Montenegro last Wednesday and was expected to be sidelined for two to three weeks at least.
However, Barca's talismanic stopper has undertaken a rigorous schedule of double training sessions and appears to have succeeded in his bid to make a miraculous recovery.
Meanwhile, Raul was restricted to a brief substitute cameo in the same game because of a persistent thigh complaint and sat out last weekend's 2-1 win at Albacete.
The Real star should prove his fitness for Sunday's showdown and looks likely to get the nod, although Michael Owen - who scored the winner at Albacete - will push him hard for a starting berth.
David Beckham has also shaken off a thigh injury and, after training as normal on Wednesday, will also be fit for selection.
Definitely missing from the game will be Barca star Deco and Real duo Guti and Walter Samuel as all three players are suspended having collected their fifth booking of the season last weekend.

It's gonna be a great game. Barca have always been the classier side and will come out on top (again). And what's this I hear about Owen being better than Raul? Where is that coming from? Raul is one of the best players of the last decade. The guy is so skillful. I think it'd be wrong to compare Owen to Raul. Owen's a great player as well. But Raul is at a different level. Anyways...it's gonna be a great game. Go Barca!!

Wiji the Owen is better than Raul is coming from me!
I cudnt care less what Raul did a few years ago, based on current form Owen is far better than Raul. Raul is a passenger in the team (much like Ganguly) the coaches are too scared to drop him cos they will incure the wrath of the Real fans who adore him! Raul is not the same player anymore, he is not as good as he once was.

Samuel Eto'o claims that he has no interest in gaining revenge when Barcelona meet Real Madrid on Sunday and says he will be just as happy if another player scores the winning goal for the Catalans.
The Cameroon international has been pinpointed as the main threat by Madrid, but Eto'o is just keen to do well against his former club to help Barca towards the league title.
Madrid let Eto'o leave the club last summer when they agreed to sell their 50 percent stake in the player to Barca, but he is not out to prove a point this time around.
"I have no desire for revenge," he said.
"I cannot want revenge against Real Madrid. If they had not signed me, then I would not be now playing for Barcelona. I could not stay there and I am now very happy at Barca.
"I want to do well in every game. I always want to win and it is the same against Madrid. It is our duty to think about winning the match.
"I am not obsessed with scoring in this game. If another player scores for us and we win I will be just as happy as if I had scored.
"I am like a child with new football boots and cannot wait for the game to start. I have already played in a Barcelona and Madrid match in Camp Nou and now I want to see what it is like in the Bernabeu."

Espanyol boss Miguel Angel Lotina has claimed that he wants Real Madrid to beat Barcelona this Sunday in the derby encounter at the Bernabeu.
The Basque coach has his own reasons for wanting Wanderley Luxemburgo's side to defeat the Parakeets' city rivals and is not revealing any alignment with Madrid
"Real Madrid will win," he said. "It is what I think will happen and it is what Espanyol need to happen.
"Barcelona will still go on and win the league though.
"The reason is that we have already played both Barca and Madrid twice this season and if Madrid win then the title will still be open.
"They will then both be left with games against teams that we are competing with for a top four place and it is therefore in our interests that they have something to play for."
Espanyol are currently in fifth place, level on points with fourth-place Betis and just one point behind Villarreal who are in third.

Carles Puyol and Ronaldinho will both train on Saturday and look set to be included in Barcelona's starting line-up for the clash with Real Madrid on Sunday.
The Blaugrana duo have both been plagued by respective problems over the past week and doubts have surfaced as to whether they will be fit in time to play in the Bernabeu.
Puyol picked up an ankle strain in Spain's recent World Cup qualifier with Serbia & Montenegro and was initially told he would miss the Madrid match, but he had light training sessions on the Camp Nou pitch on Friday.
Meanwhile, Ronaldinho has endured a bout of gastroenteritis this week and has been unable to train with the rest of the first-team squad.
But both players will be put through their paces on Saturday morning to see if they feel fit enough to be included in the squad.
Barcelona coach, Juan Carlos Unzue, has said that it is down to the duo to decide for themselves if they are able to play, but insists that the squad has enough back-up to cater for their absence.
"It is the players themselves who will have to decide, especially in Puyol's case," he said.
"But if they can't play, there's no need for tears, because that wouldn't solve anything.
"What we have to do is try to make sure that whoever replaces them does so as confidently as possible."

Michael Owen looks to have won a start for Real Madrid as they entertain Barcelona on Sunday, live on Sky Sports 1.
The England hit man has reportedly got the nod ahead of Luis Figo to start in Vanderlei Luxemburgo's first eleven.
Raul's return from injury had looked to have placed Owen's place under threat, despite the fact he netted in Madrid's last outing against Albacete.
If Owen does indeed start ahead of Figo, then it is anticipated in the Spanish press that the decision could hasten the departure of the Portuguese wide man in the summer.
Owen has endured a frustrating campaign, despite netting 13 goals and possessing the best strike rate at the club, but he remains determined to prove himself in the capital.
''It would be nice to get a chance in such a big game and obviously I want to play, but whether I get the chance to play or not is a different matter.
''I'm happy here and I'm not setting any criteria for wanting to go.
''Unless someone tells me something different then I expect to be playing here next year.''

What a superb match! one of the best one's i have seen this season!
First of all i have to say that Real were the better team overall, they fully deserved the victory. i havent seen Real play like that for ages. Barca were good but it seemed like Real wanted it more, also being top of the league probably affected them.
the worst thing for Barca is that Eto'o got injured, hopefully its not too serious because he is badly needed for the remaining games to hopefully wrap up the title!

Your defence is mediocre to say the least. We have the 2nd best defensive record in the prem so thats sorted. All we need is a few more attacking players and once Ruud hits top form, we'll be sorted if the defence continues to do well.

There is a myth about Beckham.
You dont buy Beckham to win anything...just selll masses of shirts due to his celebrity status.
And ManUre didnt miss out on Ronaldinho...he ignored them because he wanted to win something!
Why dont ManUre have a world class keeper like Chelsea? Because NO world class keeper wants to play for ManUre.
Perhaps when Buffon is 40, and wants to earn $$$ he will join ManUre.

I'm off now. Before I go i'd like to say one thing.
WIY keeps saying United are in decline. Well to be in decline, a club needs to win trophies in the first place and then go crap like Liverpool. I'd like to say Barca are in decline but I can't, because they aint actually won anything recently.
So i'll say this. Barca were crap and still are.
Good night.

Good result for Real but it could so easily have gone the other way. Barca had many opportunities to equalize.

Humbled Barcelona president Laporta praises Real Madrid
Barcelona president Joan Laporta paid tribute to the performance of Real Madrid after last night's 4-2 defeat at the Santiago Bernabeu.
"The game was a great pleasure for the fans," he said. "There were spectacular goals and great play by both teams.
"We looked like we could level and maybe get a draw, but Raul's goals changed things."
A humble Laporta added: "I want to congratulate my opponent. There have been very interesting and exciting moments in this game.
"Now I call on us to continue working with the same determination because we have played well and we can maintain our lead by keeping this attitude."

Barcelona have been credited with an interest in Manchester United striker Alan Smith, but the club refused to be drawn on the subject when contacted by skysports.com.
Smith arrived at Old Trafford from bitter rivals Leeds last summer, but his thunder was stolen by the 11th-hour arrival of Wayne Rooney from Everton.
The England international has been forced to share the striking duties at Old Trafford with Rooney, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Louis Saha and a clutch of clubs have been alerted to the fact that he has not cemented a regular spot in Manchester.
Newcastle are reportedly keeping close tabs on the situation, but it has now emerged that Catalan giants Barcelona are believed to be assessing the situation.
Barcelona have an embarrassment of attacking talent at Camp Nou, but this has not stopped the rumour mill from cranking into action.
Despite having the likes of Samuel Eto'o, Ronaldinho, Maxi Lopez and the currently injured Henrik Larsson in his squad, Frank Rijkaard is said to be considering the possibility of testing United's resolve to keep Smith.
Reports are suggesting Barca will put together a package in the region of €15 million, which will involve two players heading to The Premiership in part exchange, in a bid to bring Smith to La Liga.
Barcelona director of sport Txiki Beguiristain would not be drawn on the rumours surrounding Smith, but did admit that the club are looking at possible summer arrivals.
"Our policy is not to comment on rumours in the press," Beguiristain told skysports.com.
"We are looking at players for the new season, but our priority is to win La Liga."
United chief Sir Alex Ferguson has been told by the club's board that he will have to sell before he can buy, but the wily Scot has made no secret of his regard for Smith and is most unlikely to sanction a sale after just one season at the club.
LOLLLLL - he could be useful as a bench player for us, who knows maybe playing with ronnyd would improve him!
i dont want us to buy smith and i dont think we will, i would much rather keep riquelme and saviola

Saw the highlights of RealM/Barca.
Real were excellent on the night. Barca were however denied an obviuos penalty, which could have changed things.
