Time to turn it round for Sydney

well we lost the 1st game after a spirited performance in the field despite some horrendous and blatantly biased umpiring from Aussie Steve Davis and Kiwi Billy 'all I want is attention' Bowden. Some excellent bowling from Rana, Razzaq and Rao with Afridi and even Hafeez chipping in with some work. Also some superb catches taken by Razzaq, Hafeez and Inzi.

A small total of 238 against Aus the important thing was keeping wickets in hand but we lost 4 early wickets and from then on it was always going to be a struggle. Inzi and Malik almost took us to a winning position but after Inzi got out we never really regained our momentum.

Now it is time to forget about what happened in this game and concentrate on the 2nd game in Sydney. We know we can beat the Aussies. The last few times we have played them we have given them a reasonable fight and beaten them once. I hope everyone gets behind the team and gives them the support they deserve for the effort they put in the field today.

I think you have to give a lot of credit to Inzmam for the mini-revival, and heart and character they have shown recently.

Under poor leadership easy for a side to disintegrate when they lose heavily in the earlier part of the tour. Easy to get demoralized under poor leadership and results.

But Pakistan have hung in and contiued to show some fighting spirit.

That I think reflects well on Inzamam's leadership.

I think that we will put a stronger fight up the order in Sydney. Hope we dont crumble like the last time we played there.

What makes a side strong ?

The skills - we have them

The heart - we have that too - Rana has set the bar high and others will be sure to follow

The ability to keep our nerves - that is one area we still need to work on

If all these qualities come together in Sydney - we may be on the way to Adelaide with a smile.

But what if they dont ? I think we have still gained a lot - lets keep focussed on the larger prizes here.

Do we have the skills to face Lee and Mcgrath without losing wickets at the top....thats the only one i doubt.
