You have to pick the right players ('shares') based on predictions of the way the pitch would behave (market analysis) and also based on predictions of which players would peak and when (trend analysis). Some players are more stable and have less risk attached to them (Yousuf and Malik) whilst other players are far more risky and their selection must be done carefully and not regularly (Nazir and Afridi to a good extent).
PCB should hire some sort of former investment banker as our chief of selectors. It would pay dividends!
