"...Former Australian cricket captain Steve Waugh said players have to take the initiative if the problem of match-fixing is to be eradicated from the sport.

"I don't want it in cricket I think it is terrible, disgusting," Waugh told reporters on Monday at the Laureus sports awards in Barcelona on Monday..."

.".Waugh said that it would be wrong to believe that the problem was just confined to Pakistan.

"It would be pretty naive to say it was just one or two countries. I don't know who is involved but the odds are it is more than one or two countries..."

Perhaps he should first talk to his twin, Mark, the "WeatherMan"!

I find this whole match fixing thing cropping up to be ridiculous. What evidence is there exactly the leads to match fixing?

Stevo, you might wanna pass that advice on to Mark as well.

otherwise he'll keep giving out "pitch and weather tips" to bookies.

If he is saying this, it means match fixing does exist in cricket. Inzamam completely denied it. Sarfaraz was right then.

Dont find anything funny in that. All these great cricketers keep claiming that match fixing are all rumours...
However if it does exist, then we fans have been the biggest fools to follow the game religiously.

first of all they never gave proofs of their claims, by just saying it is happening is not good enough.
If it is as Steve is saying, so it's not that long enough since he is retired, means when he was captain there was match fixing too, why we never heard his concern at that time ?

I don't follow it religiously and I advise u the same as well, BUT IF you follow it then you shouldn't question the team on basis of rumours only.

I dont understand the timing issue. Match fixing issue is a hot topic now with Woolmers Death. Even the Jamaican police has requested the ICC to investigate that. So Waughs comment have come at the right time.

Thanks for the advise. i would still follow it religiously and advise you the same...Australia are always there to keep the interest in the game going.
