For the noobs, if you have any questions on how to play the game, you can always ask here.
Of course, everyone can ask questions on how if your making a good buy, or what you should do with the player (sell him/fire him), bid for him.
So, noobs, ask all your questions here!

its a very simple game to understand and you will get to grips with it quickly. pepsi cola started a week ago and already he seems to know what to do, who to buy etc... there are no stupid questions to ask, if u dnt understnd even the simplest of things dnt worry and just ask.

Most important thing is, Read the rules. Read them all the way through and they really tell a lot. It will be very stupid if you don't read the rules and waste all your money on hiring 20 coaches and increasing your ground size to be bigger than Eden Garden.
also check out the links on the battrick site. There are a lot of stuff out there that is helpful. Maybe someday Batrick will link to here, who knows?

Yep that is exactly what my advice would be; before you do something stupid, make sure you go through the rules!

ok PC ima look at your squad now
hasbeen
13th April 2007, 01:32
you batting is better than your bowling but that aint saying much. your bowling is weak. you have a lot of money to spend and rather than spending it on one or two players i suggest you spend wisely on about 5-6 good players rather than 2-3 very good players. when i started i invested in a core of 15 new players and i have done very well with just losing one game all season. what i look at in a player is the following:
1 his batting or bowling along with stamina and conc or consistency depending on whether he is a bowler or batsman.
2. i look at his age. as long as he is below 30 that is fine. some of the ppers seem to be obsessed with players under 20. you only need one or two youngsters to train not the whole team as you only have 10 nets neways.
3. most importantly i look at his stats ie averages etc. i dont care if the guy has batting mediocre if he is averaging 50 odd, he must be decent.
with those three things i have built a team that is going places. hope that helps

It does a lot. But realy what do I need. And what qualities should be looking for in the 5-6 player that I should get.
for a bowler look at three things:
firstly the bowling more than anything. mediocre is the minumum requirement when you first start.
then look at consistency. once again mediocre is the minimum requirement.
then stamina. once again mediocre is the minimum requirement.
those are the base you should be looking at when you look at bowlers. the same is for batsman except batting and conc instead of bowling and consistency.
a batsman with medicore in all three attributes is better than a batsman with respectable batting but woeful conc and stamina.

here is an example of one of the players i might be selling:
Huw Tawanda (963496)
RH Batsman, RM Bowler, superb batting form, superb bowling form, sublime
An attacking player with mediocre leadership skills and worthless experience.
Plays For: class act
Nationality: England
Age: 18 Years Old
Battrick Rating: 3,489
Wages: £378 p/w
Stamina: mediocre Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: mediocre Concentration: mediocre
Bowling: worthless Consistency: woeful
Fielding: woeful
Batting M I R n.o. Ave SR HS C st 50s 100s
Season 12 6 111 4 55.50 70.25 44* 5 0 0 0
Career 22 13 659 7 109.83 101.23 156 6 0 5 1
he averages over 100 with a strike rate over a 100 because he has decent enough batting but also the concentration and stamina to make a lot of runs. a batsman with respectable batting but poor stamina or conc will make good runs but wont make big runs because his stamina or conc is poor. hope this helps u.

not sure yet. the thing is i havent got enough nets to train him. they are all being used up so no point having him. if i sell him to someone else they can at least train him with 3-4 nets to make him even better.
i would only buy him if you got three or 4 nets to train him. i think if you train him for about 5 weeks on one batting, one fielding and one fitness net he can become competent in all 3 in 5 weeks and then hopefully he can average even higher.
how much would u b willing to bid for him?

lol this was a poor buy to be honest. it will take you absolutely ages to train this guys stamina :))) it will take about 6 weeks to change his stamina from worthless to abysmal and so on up the ladder. look at his age. 20 yrs old and he will take ages to train. he is an ok bowler but he aint worth training. you should train 17 and 18 yr olds.

i think you need one perhaps two batsman more to make your batting even stronger and to give support to that nazar guy. he cant always perform so you need insurance. and bowling you need 3 good bowlers more.

iv had a look at the batsman going at the moment and even thgh they seem to have mediocre in three aspects they dont seem to have played a game so you wont know how good they r.
remember this: not every player with the same attributes will perform the same way. it is important to buy players who have played in order to see how they performed
make sure you always look at how they performed in thier previous clubs

no im not sure if his stamina will make him perform poorly but i said no point training his stamina because it wont improve so no point wasting valuable nets on him. buy a 17 or 18 yr old and train them up as they will train up quicker. you only hav 10 nets so use them wisely. look at me i have a brilliant 18 yr old but cant spare my nets on him because i used them on other guys and then theres you whos wasting your nets on a guy whos 20 with worthless stamina :))) lol. you will learn as time goes on.

i think it take 5-6 weeks for a attribute to change from worthless to ie abysmal if the kid is 17. as the kid gets older by one year it takes a extra week for it to pop. so if the kid is 20 it wil take him 3 weeks longer than a 17 yr old.

if i was you i would use 4 nets on ghais islam because he is 17 and will improve the fastest and actually has some potential to become a good all rounder. then i would invest in two new players either 17 or 18 and use 3 nets on each.
try to find one batsman with mediocre at least in three attributes and give him 3 nets. ie one batting fielding and stamina.
the same applies for a bowler.
in that way you will have three players who will improve as time goes on and be the core of your team along with other players you buy and the good ones you got already.
there is no point wasting one net on one guy and so on. you need to dedicate the nets to 3 players who are young and have potential to improve and become good players. like that keeper you have, he has respectable keeping already, so why waste a keeping net on him.

Nah, I'm pretty sure they decrease. My players have decreased because they don't have nets.
Player's skills do not decrease if they don't have nets, all that will happen is players' batting and bowling form will drop if they don't have nets or play. The only skill that will decrease is stamina and thats only on players aged 30+, of which there are very few in battrick at the moment so people haven't worked out how much/often this happens yet.

MCMLXXXII
19th July 2007, 19:12
what does bt rating mean
BT rating is an inconsequential number that tries to rate your player's abilities. It is a sum of all the skills of your player. It is inconsequential because it has no effect on the performance of the player. Player's performance is based on his skill rating in which ever skill he is using. The BT rating is an average of all his ratings and does not reflect the true worth of the player properly. Say for example you have excellent batting skills but very crappy bowling, fielding and keeping skills, you will have a lower BT rating then having a mediocre rating in all your scale, but that doesn't really make you good in anything as a player.
BT ratings are only used as a rough guide when trying to assess the overall value of a player. Look at the primary skills of the player and then compare their BT ratings to see which one is slightly better. Most people completly ignore the BT ratings and only look at the skills of a player when choosing them.

Do not create multiple accounts for any reason, you will be found and banned. There is no reason why you shouldn't be able to train an U19 player and continue to make good progress with your team. Save up 100 ITS for next season and cross your fingers you'll get a good enough youth pull to train (with 4 or 5 nets for batsmen and bowlers, more for allrounders and keepers)

How many coaches would you recommend a new manager to buy straightaway? I joined the game just a day ago, and am quite concerned about the finances, because if I buy 10 coaches, then I don't see myself making much money, since 10 coaches would cost me 25000, plus there is ground maintenance, and salaries too, and with the income coming from sponsors (I got paid 6000 this week), and gate receipts (got paid 16,036), you can see that I will be losing money this way...
So what do you suggest? Shall I slowly buy coaches as I make more money? What have you done when you joined the game?

Arite, you should start with 10 coaches. You WILL need that to train your players. Also, post your squad in the "SHOWS US YOUR SQUAD" THREAD listed by Battrick rating. We can really help you with that and see what coaches you should hire. Post it now, I am online.

yes Respectable seems to be the best Stamina level one should train. Unless the player you are training is for NT/U19.
From Resp to Superb: There is very little difference to Fitness recovery rate. Resp recovers 1 level in every 2.5 days while Superb recovers approx 1 level in 2.1 Days. Whereas Mediocre recovers 1 level in 3 days.

for anyone who can answer this :
If a player already has sublime fitness and you TIE in a game he has, will it build up to Sublime +1, there for if you GFI in the next match he will still be sublime ?
Or is sublime the maximum and will go down if you TIE, then GFI ?
iZeeshan

Sublime is max, I belive.
Goldbrain
16th February 2008, 13:46
Sublime is the max
Playing with PAN and if bowler will bowl 10 overs and batsman will score 100, their PFL goes down 1 level, with TIE half level, GFI 2 levels, I might be wrong but this is the closest one:)

I used to have it and am thinking of getting it again myself.
It doesn't really have anything that will garuntee you success but things like extra statistics can help you pick your teams for specific matches with more fact. Also, the alliances and other extra sledging boards are helpful.
All in all it has good extra features but it isn't a neccessity.

Straight Bat

yea it tells you how much they go up and down by but they don't tell you when your players will pop, they just tell you when they have popped.
alliances are just extra sledging forums which are only open for members. you could find different alliances which you want (eg. there are football club alliances, mentoring allianes and other such things)

Its depend on your players form, if your players form goes down your players BT rating will effect the same time and if form go up ratings go up as well

When you give your player batting or bowling nets, put fielding and WK nets as well, your players conc and cons pop will be more quicker than usual, I think it will pop 1/3 times quicker:)

Yes, thats the way to boost conc and consis but remember that if they are getting a batting or bowling net you must also have employed sports psychologists to get the benefit. Your psycho's will visit the players getting primary training and boost their secondary too. The rules explain this.
Your player will only benefit from the psychologists for every primary net of that type. So a player getting two or three batting nets will not benefit more than a player getting just one batting net in terms of the boost to concentration. How many to employ? Thats debateable. If cash is tight a lot of users just have one psychologist for every one player getting a primary net. So if you have five players on 2 batting nets each then its worth getting five psycho's. However its a good idea to get a few more since it does seem to make a difference at the margin. I have noticed this and so have people like Caliban and some other trainers. I have eight and some others have also regarded this as a good number if its affordable. More than that probably is a waste of money.
Fielding is also a good way of ramping up secondaries. It will help your player collect more catches and save you runs in the field and also accelerate your players secondary pop times as a bonus.
Wicket Keeping will give you even more of a lift. The quickest way to ramp up secondaries is to put a player on at least one net and add a fielding and w/k. Watch his secondaries go skywards! I have a 17yo player getting primary nets and a fielding and w/k. He has popped twice now - every 5 weeks, regular as clockwork. He will be the first player in my team to have a secondary rating higher than his primary! He hit an OD century against good bowling today so its not doing him any harm!
There should be a table around somewhere giving approximate training times for secondaries. However just off the top of my head for a young player getting primary net,fld and wk pop times are approx 5-6 weeks, primary net and only fld get a pop in 7-8 weeks and just relying on training a primary net gets a pop in 12-13 weeks. Thats a rough guide but it won't be far wrong.
Unlike primary skills which increase more slowly with age, and stamina which increases at the same rate for all ages, conc/consis increase a little faster with age. So it can be worthwhile putting a primary net and fld on an older player to improve him, if there is a need. That should be worth about 2.5 pops in a season.

How important is it to have Superb stamina? all my players have mediocre stamina and some of the key ones have respectable. I have stopped training stamina after that. Do I need to make them go all the way up to superb?
What does the match engine use to factor in, the stamina or the player's PFL? I play them when they are sublime or energetic. Would having a sublime player with superb stamina perform better than a sublime player on respectable stamina? When should I stop training fitness?
Goldbrain
2nd May 2008, 14:04
If your players are above strong primaries and secondries and you are playing them so often, means in OD's as well as FC's and their PFL are hitting big time. Yes you need at least Prof or one level up stamina.
As higher stamina players recover their PFl more quickly than low level stamina players. Now its depend on you which players do you want to be higher in stamina. All rounders 100% and should have higher stamina:)
MCMLXXXII
2nd May 2008, 14:08
So the stamina is all about PFL recovery? As long as I can manage their PFLs I am good? Or is there some performance advantage as well between players of some skill and PFL but different stamina?
Hari Sombar
2nd May 2008, 14:25
Its only about PFL recovery, only the energetic/sublime etc. has any advantage in the performance.
Kamran
2nd May 2008, 14:30
There is a performance advantage aswell, for example i have found that my opening bats with stamina below mediocre really slow down there scoring rate if they bat longer than 30 overs, whereas my superb stamina bat always maintains his scoring rate even if he bats the whole 50 overs. its the same with bowlers the lower the stamina the more they tend to go for in there final overs of a spell.
I think the minimum level for a batsmen should be comp at worst and minimum for a bowler should be prof, my aim is to achieve this within the next 3 seasons.

Well, it looks like your winning most of your matches and you should be getting good revenue.
If you haven't already you might want to start investing in the ITS, a very little amount each week from now might get you to 100 ITS next season and 3 YP's. So just start investing 4 - 6k each week if you haven't already.
If you have some money as well, if you see 1 or 2 good CHEAP players, you might want to pick them off the market.
Otherwise your going quite well, just manage your games and your money will manage it self, don't promote too early remember.

Depends on what you need to train.
Like for me, I have 4 batting, 4 bowling 1 stamina and one 1 fielding.
You don;t need a W/K or Stamina/Fielding coach if you don't want to train someone on it.
Pick your coaches based on your players' needs, not the other way around.

For a new starter the Academy would not be where I would invest at the moment. Improving squad and ground would be higher priorities but here goes:
Youth pulls take place once every week after the financial updates. For England teams this is on Saturday 17:30, I'm not sure about Pakistan based teams.
Check the condition of your Youth Academy. This maybe anywhere from Abysmal to Superb. The condition of your academy will determine how many Intensive Training Sessions (ITS) you can use with each youth pull.
A Superb academy will enable you to use 35 ITS, maximum of 12 on each player skill (batting, bowling, stamina, concentration etc).
12 ITS returns a skill level of Mediocre.
You can upgrade academy condition as many times as you want, it costs £30k. Usually, but not always 30k will move the academy condition up one level ie from Feeble upto Mediocre.
New teams start with 50 ITS, you can also purchase extra ITS every week. £2000 will get you 1 ITS. Maximum ITS you can have is 100.

btw Youth pulls are random so make sure you pull a youth every week after the financial update. If your luck is in then you may pull a decent 17 year old to add to your squad.

Go to Club chose Club Info screen, on the right hand side you will see a message:
Start developing a new Youth Academy player.
Click on this text and you will go to the Youth Pull screen. Here you can use ITS on a specific player attribute (batting, bowling, keeping, fielding, stamina, concentration, consistency). The amount of ITS you can use will be shown (this is dependent of the condition of your Youth Academy).
Put a tick in the box at the bottom to finalise your settings and hit the button and you will be presented with your new player.
You will have option to fire the player, sell him or keep him in your squad.
Youth Pulls are random so if you are lucky you may get a decent player without any ITS.
If you are new to the game I would suggest holding back on investing anything in Youth Academy/ITS for now, instead look at improving your squad and your ground first.

Also, dont make you YP now, make it at the beginning of the season because you will have the maximum amount of time to train them

You should make a Youth Pull every week BUT you should make a Youth Pull using ITS as stated by Hari above . Your chances of getting a decent youth are increased by the ITS you invest in that particular youth pull and thus if you get one of these close to the start of the season you will have longer to train them as 17 year olds.

On sat the financial updates are done.so if we want to increase the FA's we should do it on saturday or on monday?
Because Training updates are done on monday and we hire/fire the Psychologists and coaches on monday.
I am really confused about it.
That we should hire FA's Before financial update or after Financial Update?
What about firing coaches should it be done after Financial Update and If i have to hire coaches should it be done on monday as training updates are done on monday.
Guys plz help me out.
