Hameed has been tried at #3 recently .. but I think he's a much better option to open then Hafeez.

Hafeez , although he looks techincally good, has done very poorly as an ODI opener. I wonder if he is not better suited for the middle order instead of opener.

i'd have the top order like this..

butt
hameed
malik
moyo
hafeez

he wasn't "dropped" .. it's a dead rubber and everyone is being given a chance to play.

Are we talking only about today's match or overall? Hafeez should open, Hameed looks good at 3.

both today and overall ..

after 46 ODIs Hafeez is averaging 18 with a strike rate of 58 :O :O :O

that is just TERRIBLE !!

Since Hafeez is in the side, he should open with Butt. Though I cant really understand what he has done to be there, but thats another story.

i think hafeez is a good batsmen .. but he's just a bad choice to face the new ball.

i've seen him in test where he rides out the new ball defensively and then scores well against the older ball.

he doesn't have that option in ODIs and usually defends for an over or two and as soon as he tries to play a shot he gets out --> thus the average of 18 with a strike rate of 58 !

but why look at hafeez's stats that i mentioned --> don't those look alarming bad to you ?

If we are talking overall, Butt and Nazir are perfect right now - Hafeez is just getting an outing today.

Good question. Hafeez is not a opener. I think Malik Should open. But its obvious they will send Hafeez in first.

Opening partnerships shouldn't last 2 matches. It's like a central defensive partnership in football the more you play together the better the understanding.

I totally agree about Hafeez, he is in our ODI team mainly because of his bowling but at the same time his batting isn't that bad but he needs some time and there isn't much time in 50 over games. In 20/20 though, he plays very well because he doesn't care about playing himself in, maybe he should adapt that in ODI's as well.

What is this im seeing?
Yasir Hameed has completely changed his approach to batting in odi's.
3rd match he is playing aggresively and i think someone has had a word with him

he was always a good batsman .. after he was imprudently dropped by BW he lost his confidence but now seems to be regaining it.

JUst looking at Yasirs career strike rate. I didnt realise it was so poor at 67.

he's a bit of a snail as well .. but he does have an average close to 40 after 50+ ODIs.
