View Full Version : 4th Place Premiership team WILL go to the Champs Lg!
It will be:-
Chelsea
Arsenal
ManUre
Everton or Bolton.
If Liverpool WIN the Champions Laegue they will NOT qualify for next seasons tournament.
UEFA Cup it is lads!
i swear they've been saying that for ages
The ruling has only just been announced.
For the sake of football (and I am a Liverpool fan)...its the CORRECT decision.
We can now concentrate on winning the CL and finishing 5th for an automatic UEFA Cup spot.
I know many people (inc Liverpool fans) will say that if LFC win the Chams League, then they need to defend the trophy...but the Prem table doesnt lie...and harsh reality is that Liverpool have NOT been the 4th best team in the Prem.
Table NEVER lies.
Confirmation:-

David Moyes and Rafael Benitez are vying for fourth place
The Football Association confirms that the top four teams from the Premiership will qualify for next season's Champions League.
The decision will come as a blow to Liverpool who could win the competition this season and not be able to defend the trophy if they finish fifth.
Everton are currently in fourth place in the top-flight and are three points ahead of the Reds with a game in hand.
Uefa has said it wil not allow five English clubs to take part next season.

we can still get 4th. 2 big [erformances required
I doubt it...I remember when Real Madrid finished outside the CL qualification spot a few years back...the SPanish FA threw out the 4th place club and replaced them with Real Madrid.
I dont think we should go down that road.
Who ever finishes 4th should go.
Rules are rules.

Cech would've been sent of anyway and liverpool would've had a penalty. Either way it was a goal
I do believe we have some 'sore losers' online!
Well Ill settle for a Champions Legue FINAL and a UEFA spot next season.
And Chelsea fans (that used to support Arsenal last year and ManUre 2 years ago) will soon be supporting another team when Abramovic pulls out when he gets bored!

This isn't exactly breaking news. The rules have always stated the team in 4th place will go into the CL. For some reason, some Liverpool fans have made an issue out of it and claim their team should be in the CL next season. Everybody else thinks it should be Everton.
Its a fair rule. Anyone can fluke their way through a cup but the real test is in the league, and Liverpool have failed miserably.
Have fun playing the likes of Bolton in "europe" next year.
...and ManUre wont be playing Bolton next season?

Have fun playing the likes of Bolton in one of your biggest games of the season next year.

I agree with they probably wont win it. Their luck will run out in the final.
As for the rules, they are fair IMO. If the world cup winners have to qualify for the next world cup I don't see why the CL should be any different. Liverpool are an average side and their league performances show it. Just because they went on a lucky streak this year, it doesn't mean they should be guaranteed a place next year.

i dout they will win it but if the goal was disalowed peter cech should have been sent of and it would have been a penalty so you can say that the referee did chelsea a favour!!!!! i say that liverpool wont beat ac milan because of the sheer class in ac milan although we have seen if the oposing team looks to attack against them milan can be vunreble!!! thats where i think liverpool will lose it because i feel they will be more contempt on defending.
...when it comes to luck, 2 goals in inury time of a CL final??? You cant get luckier than that!!

X) X) i think you can say that if a team can score 2 goals in injury time againt a top team at the time in the champions league final that just shows the class and determination they have till the final whistle!!!!!!!

I agree that was lucky. But the way in which United got to the final wasn't lucky. Both Liverpool and Milan are lucky to be in the final.

We were a bit lucky that night, but i agree it showed the spirit of the team and how they never stopped believing in themselves. No one can say we were lucky in the semis. I'll never forget that night in Turin. That was Keane's best game even though he knew for most of it that he would miss the final.

but a team that allows the Eng Premiership champions to only having 1 shot on target in 3 hours of football is not classy? Not skillful?
Dudek only had to make 1 save in 3 hours!
Juventus couldnt even manage a goal home or away...again, Liverpool being the INFERIOR team outplayed them.
Too many prejudices here..dont blame you all though!
Jameel

Not prejudice. I think Milan are lucky too and PSV deserve to be in the final.
Had Liverpool caught Juventus or Chelsea at their best they wouldn't be anywhere near the final. But I suppose thats the great thing about cup competitions. Everyone has a chance these days because its all about who plays well on the day. Even teams like Liverpool can make it to the final.
BTW, you say United were lucky in 1999. Liverpool were minutes away from being knocked out in the early stages this year until a certain Steven Gerrard bailed them out.
Can you believe that 1 of the guys on the 6 man committee that made this decision, was the Bolton Chairman!!!
Thats is corrupt!!!
I agree with Oxy. The fourth team should be from the League as they deserve it.
I guess we'll be knocking out Everton some time in the UEFA cup then next season. I honestly can't see them going past the CL qualifier!
Liverpool for the UEFA Cup 2006 ??
If we win, we get to keep the trophy as by the rules and as it looks almost certain now that we can't qualify for the CL through the CL then let's give it our all in the league.
Everton's games: Newcastle, Arsenal, Bolton
Liverpool's games: Arsenal, Aston Villa
There is still a slight chance. For starters, we need some help from the Toon.

i can understand decisions evening themselves out but chelsea ARE IN NO POSITION to speak
Apparently FA have done a U-turn in their policy. This was their statement earlier this season:
http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/41116000/gif/_41116683_fa_statement_416.gif
Talksport mentioned this last night and challenged the FA on this point...they refused to comment!
If Man United had been in Liverpool's position then we all know what the outcome would have been. There is no justice!
