LAHORE: Aaqib Javed, coach of Pakistan ‘A’ cricket team, said that Pakistan needs a good quality spinner and its target during the series against Australia ‘A’ is the hunt for a spinner.

In a press conference at Lahore, Aaqib Javed said that along with Danish Kaneria, the national team needs badly a spinner. He said that kokabora bowlers should be used in domestic cricket so that good spinners can be groomed.

Aaqib said that a spinner would be located in the series against Australia ‘A’ so that he may be groomed for national team. He said that at present, no team can be better than any other team because the most number of Test cricketers are in Pakistan ‘A’. These players would become experienced by playing against their strong rivals.

Aaqib Javed said that the Pakistan ‘A’ should be a permanent team.

I have to agree, we need a good quality spinner to not only support Kanaria, but also make a mark in ODI's. Danish hasn't really impressed in ODI's, and we need a specialist spinner to help take wickets after our new ball burst, and we have to stop maybe relying too much on part timers such as Hafeez.

Well economy wise Danish improved in county matches, but Pakistan need an off spinner for ODI, since Afridi is doing good job of a leg spinner. Rehman or Hafeez could step up to support leg spin of Afridi, since Malik is handicap after being reported. Also it is nice to see Younis doing good as a leg spinner.

One way to solve that problem is.....
We have a record breaking, legendary spinner called saqlain mushtaq who is only 30 years old and can play for another 5-6 years at least, much more as he is a spinner
He is playing for sussex and has declared himself fit
I say we bring him back :27:

He said that kokabora bowlers should be used in domestic cricket so that good spinners can be groomed.
And Waqar was questioning during England's tour to Paksitan why Paksitan switched from Duke (English ball) to Kookabora. Duke with it's more pronounced seam swings more and was helping the Paksitani bowlers.

More importantly we need a keeper who can keep against spinners. Then watch how our spinners will miraculously improve overnight.

Rehman should be Danish's direct replacement but I think Aaqib is looking for someone young and unheard of. Danish should still have a long career ahead of him so theres no need to panic for some time yet. Perhaps in a few years a replacement should be groomed.

Rehman doesnt really spin the ball enough and sometimes bowls a bit flat not a bad spinner but can he get wickets when needed is my concern. Aaqib is right someone who can take wickets between overs 20-45 is what we need looking at Powar and Chawla against England they have really kept india in the series.

He is not just talking about ODIs but also longer version of game (as Kaneria was mentioned) or just cricket in general

I think it is time to look beyond Danish. It was time about 2 years ago, but for some reason people are still obsessed with this mediocre performer.

He needs to go or be given a break.
