Amjad takes 6

By Paul Munyuki
PAKISTAN’S Mansoor Amjad claimed six wickets as Pakistan A dismissed Zimbabwe A for 191 on the first day of the four-day cricket series at CFX Cricket Academy yesterday.

Amjad sent down six maiden overs and got a reward of six scalps for 69 in 26,3 overs.

Sajid Shah took 3-37 in 15 overs to provide great support in the attack.

Zimbabwe’s opening batsman Neil Ferreira was the highest scorer with his half century, 57 runs in 156 balls that included four fours.

There were runs, too, for Mark Vermeulen, who scored 55 before he was caught and bowled by Amjad.

Captain Stuart Carlisle was sent back to the pavillion without troubling the scorers after he was dismissed for a duck.

The hosts’ third highest score came from the extras as the Pakistani bowlers gave away 30 runs.

In reply Pakistan were 64 for the loss of three wickets.

26.3 possibly? Should be Najaf since Sajid is not on tour. Whoever is responsible for these scorecards is doing a great job!

This is pretty pathetic if these youngsters our meant to be our future. The usual stupi pakistani panic setting into them. Putting unnecessary pressure on themsleves and always keeping the opposition in the game even if it is zimbabwe A team. They should be able to beat zimbabwe full team never mind their A team.

What is about Pakistan' Batsmen in the late 90's and 2000's they can't play spin at all.

THREE wickets to CREMER, he got tonked all around the park when Zimbabwe played SA recently going at 9 runs an over in a TEST Match !!!

But picks up 3 front line batsmen 3-22 off 7 overs. :(

Saj

WIY, if Sufyan is that good, then surely he should in the "A" team.

Note, tried and tested failures like Faisal Iqbal keep on making it in every "A" team.

the old traditional Pakistan batting collapse.

We were 106 for 1!

We will still win but come on people.......concentrate. This is Zimbabwe A not Australia.

8th May 2005, 19:16
Syed depends how you play him, if like most Pakistani batsmen these days who fail to use there feet and play spinners from the crease, any half decent spinner will cause them problems.

Only Inzy, Yohanna, Malik are any good from the current team, YK gets himself out of problems with his sweep but some of the others don't even play that shot effectively.

If you looked to be positive, bowlers like Cremer are nothing, Kallis was just waltzing down the pitch and Cremer ended up bowling full tosses.

Pakistan A hang on for tight victory

Pakistan A 270 (Hasan Raza 100*) and 160 for 7 beat Zimbabwe A 191 (Amjad 6-69) and 235 (Ferreira 90) by three wickets
Scorecard

Pakistan A endured a late scare in their second innings as they pursued a modest 160 at the Harare Sports Club, but eventually snuck home by three wickets thanks to a composed 22 not out from their No. 9, Mohammad Asif, who had earlier picked up four wickets in Zimbabwe A's second innings.

Needing 160 for victory, Zimbabwe made a healthy start, reaching 106 for 1 thanks to Ashar Zaidi's 43, and 46 from Faisal Athar. But then the rot set in, as Graeme Cremer grabbed both men plus the captain, Misbah-ul-Haq, with his legbreaks, and Tawanda Mupariwa ripped towards the tail with three wickets of his own.

Pakistan endured an uneasy night as they closed on 134 for 7, with Asif yet to get off the mark, but on the resumption of play, the victory was wrapped up in just nine overs of the fourth morning

Well maybe the oitch was hard to bat on last day but they won. Of course from 106 for 1 they shud have won more easily but ashar zaidi and hasan raza have been playing well on the whole tour.

Faisal iqbal and misbah failed but they are not our future ! Must be better batsmen then faisal iqbal for sure !

Well atleast we managed to win it in the end cant belive we collapsed like that in front of Zimbabwe side, Creamer got wickets against South Africa (probably the worst test side against spinners) when he was going for 9 an over.
