View Full Version : Amir Khan's fight
predictions?
Promoter Frank Warren is hopeful that Britain's Amir Khan will choose to turn professional after his rematch with Mario Kindelan on Saturday.
Khan has so far resisted the chance to go professional so he can have another bout with 33-year-old Kindelan, who beat him in last year's Olympic final.
"I think he should have turned professional after the Olympics but that was not the case," Warren said.
"Whether it is his last amateur fight or not I don't know, I hope so."
Warren expects a more closely-contested affair when 18-year-old Khan takes on the Cuban at the Reebok Stadium.
The Bolton fighter lost 30-22 to Kindelan in the Athens lightweight final, but the veteran promoter said of him: "I think he has got a bit more experience and I think it will be a much closer fight this time.
"This is the fight he wants.
"You have to take your hat off to him. How many fighters on the verge of maybe signing a professional, lucrative signing-on bonus and so forth would put that at risk by taking such a fight?
"He is not frightened of showing what he has got."
Also can you please go to: www.freewebs.com/thekissguidetoukpolitics and post on the guestbook with your opinions on the site. Need to evaluate people's opinions on it for coursework. thanks.

Kindelan will win
Will be a close fight but i feel Khan will get the better of Kindelan this time.
It'll be very close. Kindelan might just win
i think kindelan will win although it will be closer
Amir Khan's father says his son will be turning professional "sooner rather than later" following a controversial loss for Amir's younger brother Haroon.
Haroon, 13, dropped a points decision to South Durham's Geoff Saunders in the semi-finals of the Schoolboy Championships in Liverpool on Saturday.
And Shah Khan said: "I'm 100% sure it was a backlash because of what's going on with Amir. It was outrageous.
"The Amateur Boxing Association is pushing us further and further away."
However, South Durham club secretary Tracy Saunders, who is also opponent Geoff's mother, disputed Shah Khan's version of events.
"Geoff has already beaten Haroon in March 2003, he clearly beat him Saturday and would be willing to beat him again given the chance."

Inshallah Khan will win. It's about how much one wants to win, having belief and faith.
Saj, Amir had an offer/chance to represent Pakistan at the International level. Pak offered to support and back him but I personally don't blame him for choosing to rep GB as he obviously has better facilities, more chnaces of success and more recognition. I hope people dont think he turned his back on Pak as it ceartainly isnt just as simple as that. Finances, family, facilities all play a part in such decisions.

The thread seems to have dissapeared :L? :L? :L?
Saj the answer to the question you asked is :
- Amir Khan thought he was too young to enter the Olympics
- he then found out he was old enough to enter
- the ABA said they wudnt take him cos he is too late to enter (i think they picked other ppl)
- Amir Khan then said i will fight for Pakistan if i have to
- obviously this got the ABA to change their stance
- he then went to the Olympics and fought for Britain

Confident Kindelan savages Khan
Kindelan is a double Olympic champion
Mario Kindelan has questioned Amir Khan's talent ahead of their rematch at Bolton's Reebok Stadium on Saturday.
The Cuban beat Khan in last year's Olympic lightweight final and is aiming to spoil what could be the 18-year-old's amateur farewell.
"Khan should stay amateur. He does not have a good chin and he does not punch hard," said Kindelan.
"He's not as good as British people think. He doesn't have the style to be a top professional."
Kindelan, 33, also claimed he hurt Khan in the Olympic final while emerging unscathed himself.
Khan insisted that was not true.
"I'm confident I'm going to beat Mario Kindelan this time. If I do lose then I've learned something," said Khan.
"He's never hurt me. His timing is perfect but he is not a big puncher. He is fairly fast but he is not powerful.
"When I saw him in the last Cuba fight, he wasn't as fast as he was in the Olympics.
"He is using his body more than his legs. His hands were low and he was fighting lazy.
"I'm hoping he boxes me that way and if he does it would be a different result from the Olympic final."

I think kindelan would win.
I was a bit disappointed with khan cuz he could have flown a pakistani flag alongside the union jack after his win. But as far as not choosing to represent pakistan, i dont blame him at all.

kindelan will hammer khan with ease.
the kids got immense talent but no way does he look ready to turn professional.
hes already shown in a few fights since olmpics that hes got a soft jaw and that will come to haunt him at some point in his career.

Its easy to say that from where you are sitting!
Think about it, Boxing is going to be his livelihood and he needs to think about himself and his family. Fighting for Britain was the best option career wise and financially

Agree 100% GA. we could all from the outside talk about representing pakistan with josh etc but if we were in amir's situation we would have known how difficult the decision was. In the end Amir did the sensible thing and was realistic thinking about his family and career progression first.

i agree BUT it is still a good achievement by Amir Khan to avenge his defeat - we gotta remember that he is still only 18. If he keeps his head dow, works hard and avoids the pitfalls then he can become a world champion

have 2 say amirs improved 100% since olympics. hes worked hard. added speed in attack and defense and also seems to move round ring alot more. in olmpics he looked very immature and was diving in all time in final. seemed to eager.. today he picked his oponent off.

I think he will achieve more than Naz cos it seems like the kid has heart which is something Naz didnt have!
Naz imo will remain a good fighter BUT never a great. Barerra outclassed so what does he do - he runs away. a true champion would have went back to the gym and trained like there's no tomorrow but NOT Naz.
