Eid on saturday for aussies!

It depends, it could be Friday, Saturday or even Sunday but most people in Australia are celebrating it on Saturday. We have Bosnian mosque next to our house and they are all celebrating eid tomorrow, they are a bit upset that some people (mainly desis) are celebrating it on saturday so they have even declared that if you guys don't want to say Eid prayer on friday , there is no need to come and pray in this mosque in future :( (kya zamaana aa gaya hai).

But yes we will be celerating on SATURDAY!!!!

BTW, astronomically speaking, the only place that can have Eid on friday is South Africa.

Empire State Building to turn green for Eid

http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/News/News_By_Industry/ET_Cetera/Empire_State_Building_to_turn_green_for_Eid/articleshow/2448058.cms

NEW YORK: For the first time in its history, the world famous Empire State Building here will be lit in green from Friday to Sunday in celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr.

So far the landmark tower is lighted in traditional colours every year only on the occasion of Christmas and the Jewish festival Hannukah. From this year on, lighting on Eid too will become an annual event.

At the end of Ramadan, Muslims throughout the world observe a joyous three-day celebration which marks the end of Ramadan. In Islam, the colour green symbolizes a happy occasion.

Soaring 1,454 feet above Midtown Manhattan, the Empire State Building was recently named America's most favourite building in the poll conducted by American Institute of Architects.
