Barcelona president Joan Laporta has been encouraged after meeting with Arsenal striker Thierry Henry.

Laporta knows Henry well from his time with Nike and Marca says he recently spoke with the French ace about a move to the Nou Camp next season.

The Barca president's great dream is to bring Henry to Spain to play alongside Ronaldinho and Samuel Eto'o in an attack that would match anything in Europe both for ability and glamour.

After meeting with Henry, Laporta is convinced the Arsenal striker is warming to a move to Spain, particularly Barcelona, where he will be shielded from the controversy involving Spain coach Luis Aragones earlier this season



rossell was a senior director at nike - he was major factor in helping get ronnyd to barca - he is also good mates with thierry henry - so who knows - after all barca did say they would make a great signing in summer - i presume either henry or the beast! julio baptista

Arsenal striker Thierry Henry admits it has been a difficult season for his club but insists he is happy and has no intention of moving in the summer.


The Frenchman believes Arsenal's problems began following their defeat to Manchester United, which ended their 49-game unbeaten run.

"The question of records is very popular in England," said Henry in Spanish paper Marca.

"Suddenly we lost for the first time and that caused a commotion. That affected us badly, not so much because we lost, but because of the way we lost.

"That penalty they gave against us...I could spend all day talking about the penalty," he said recalling the controversy surrounding Wayne Rooney's apparent dive.

"It has been difficult," he added, believing that taking revenge on Manchester United in the FA Cup final would only partly heal the wound.

"We can still win the cup, but the thing is when you play for teams such as Arsenal it is not enough to just win the league or the cup. The same thing happens with Milan or Madrid, it just is not possible," said Henry.

Henry also had some veiled criticism for teams such as Chelsea, who have triumphed through a more defensive style of football than Arsenal's.

"Recently we have seen a lot of teams play 4-3-3 and now we are seeing more 4-4-2 and those who are having more success are even using a 4-5-1, like Chelsea.

"They have invented another way of winning, while other teams try to play the ball before they defend.

"It is not a criticism of Chelsea. All I am saying is that their way of playing is different. Their priority is defending, not attacking," he said.

Henry has ruled out joining Real Madrid or another big side on the continent to improve his chances of lifting further silverware.

"I am happy here. Madrid, Barca, Milan and Juventus were teams I dreamed about when I was young, but now it's a different story and I am happy in London," he concluded.

Liverpool beat chelsea in the champions league
Arsenal beat liverpool 3-1 recently.
Which means arsenal are better ;)+

oh - so AJ u feel arsenal are a better side???? in la liga we have had the best defence and scored the most goals - both sides play great football but i feel barca have the edge as we dont just rely on ronnyd for that X factor - at arsenal a lot is down to henry

yeah henry is a rubbish player. thats why he scores 30 goals almost every season and creates another 25 on average a season.

Stop being a drama queen. Henry is a very good player, I never denied that. But you make him sound like some machine. No man can make a team "100 times better" as you put it.
