Was interested to know what everyone thinks about the youth academy system. Obviously when the majority of us started we thought it was a waste of money but now a couple of seasons down the line how does everybody feel about it now?
Me personally i think in your first season its best that you dont have anything to do with it but once your into your second season and have a bit of cash in the bank i think its a must.

For the past few seasons i have had my acadamy at superb and had 100 ITS at the start of the season. So lets hear what you have to say, also i will list a few players that i got from my academy so you can see how profitable it can be.

Absolute pile of crap - too much luck involved in it (you can tell I've not been lucky)

I've had a superby/strong academy for 2 seasons now, I've had 100 ITS at start of each season and only 1 of my YP's have been decent (respec/prof primaries with atleast comp secondaries) Altaf Alauddin is the boy in regard.

The rest have ranged in being sold from 30k - 1k with many 17 year olds being fired aswell.

I have been doing 100ITS and superb academy since the beginning but only have had a few good pulls. The pulls that have been good have been amazing, players lik eKhalil and Javeduddin. But there have been a lot of crap players also. This year especially. My first season I would do 0 ITS or 10 ITS pulls and had very good pulls. It sucks now even though I am putting lots of money in it. But I depend on Youth Academy solely and rarely buy players.

Crap! Too much luck! I had feeble academy last year, and I pulled out a respectable/mediocre batsman with no ITS. This year I got my academy to superb, but everytime I tried, I got players with everything worthless. What the heck?

Althou as FAM experienced it can be a double edged sword but I can't see how anybody can afford players in TM anymore unless they are beginner BT players. I pulled 1 respectable this season and wasted by money but I would easily do it again just becuase the rewards are amazing. ALso 20k per week in not that bad of a investment.

Anybody agree?

Ok to those who dont seem to have any luck with there academys what i would suggeest is that you try what i do. When i do a youth pull i will go 12 bat 12 ball 5 stam 3 con 3 con now if the player was all worthless then you would end up with something like this.

Stamina: woeful Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: mediocre Concentration: abysmal
Bowling: mediocre Consistency: abysmal
Fielding: worthless

So thats the worse you could end up with, but if your lucky you could have something like this.

Stamina: mediocre Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: respectable Concentration: competent
Bowling: mediocre Consistency: competent
Fielding: worthless

So i would advice to keep academies at superb and try and do 35 its youth pulls, as you only need 1 lucky pull and you could make millions.

Thats if you want an allrounder. Alternatively you could ignore stamina and do something like 12 bat, 12 bowl with the remaining 11 on conc and consis. If you put your YP on 1 stamina net he should get to Strong or Superb over the 3 season period you train him, from worthless. Stamina always increases at the same rate regardless of age and trains more quickly anyway.

If I want a pure batsman I go for 12 bat, 12 concentration, 11 stamina. For a pure bowler I choose 12 bowl, 12 consistency, 11 stamina.

Having a Superb academy and 100 ITS is a good idea but teams in their first season or two probably cannot afford the expense. It is a lottery. My first pull was a Respectable rated batsman who had all round ratings and played for the U19's last season. However I have had many duds as well. I got another Respectable batsman this season so he's being trained towards the U19s too.

Actually, that's if you want to make money. Allrounders, such as med/med will always go for more then say med/med/med bowling.

That is if you want to sell palyers. I always pull players to train and add to my team. I set my ITS depending on they type of player I need the most, batsman or bowler. I also go for 12 bat, 12 con and 11 stamina.
