Lots of "hoo ha" in the UK Media today about China's Human Rights abuses and how some protests may affect the Beijing Olympics.
But if you look at things closely, surely every nation on this planet has some sort of Human Rights abuse going on? Take for example Guantanamo Bay - isnt that a violation of basic human rights?
I'm sure there are other countless examples around the world?

I take it you like China then .
I have read of the millions of Chinese who have died of Starvation bought on by the ridiculous policies of their goverment over the last 60 years. Also the countless Chinese who have died in forced Labour camps during that time .I suppose Guantanamo bay equals that out

China's human rights abuse has been going on for decades and i really want people to make as much noise as they can about this issue(especially during the olympics).

well guantanamo is atleast discussed openly, protested and is now destined to have the shutters lowered on it once and forever. the oppression of the masses, especially a large muslim population in western china is overlooked and completely forgiven by most pakistani observers on the ground that china is a pseudo ally against india.
yes, america is flawed. yes, its foreign policy is hijacked by vested commerical interests, and yes it is often hypocritical. yet, it is centuries ahead of china when it comes to human rights records, civil liberties and non exploitative use of labor.

they are not quite a third world nation. one of the fastest growing economies who keep claiming to be the finest in the world. they will be subjected to stiffer standards. we dont compare india by bangladeshi standards, but by where europe is today (and thus learn where improvements are required).

that's my point .. they were a third world nation like most of asia and africa but they worked themselves out of it ...
only a strong socialist system like theirs can pull a country out of poverty.

Of course China is wrong when it comes to human rights guys, but lets face it countries who themselves cant spread some peace in the world should not be lecturing other countries on human rights

they have never been classified as a third world nation since the social reforms of mao which preceeded the economic revolution by a good decade or so. "third world" classification is a lot more ellaborate that you might assume it to be. moreover, theirs is anything but an effecient, strong socialist system.
china is a rampant totalitarian state where corruption is rife! they ahve done well to not let a word of their interior regions escape to the rest of the world. they suffer more ecological and financial crisis than india and pakistan; coal mine explosions, water pollution, air pollution, lack of infrastructure and massive chemical spills. such is the state of affairs that those who protest will be improned for "harming the image" of the nation abroad.
chinese development is limited to the east coast and little elsewhere.

Why are the positives of China not discussed as much as their negatives, other countries seem to get more of a 'glass half full' approach.
Something to do with it being a global power, if China stopped producing it's cheap electrical we all enjoy then our standard of living definitely would not be the same as it is now.
You can't have your cake and eat it.
