In zombie or half dead people, vampires type movies, why dont these people eat each other ?

In recent times, I am Legend had a bunch of blood thirsty types running around chasing Will Smith Bhai - how is it that they dont eat or kill each other?

Normally because it's conveniently scripted that Zombies seek 'live human flesh'.

Perhaps it's more interesting to see blood thirsty types attack humans rather than themselves.

Simple physiology. In order for a zombie to be animate i.e. walking and moving, its muscles have to be receiving oxygen from whatever agent is causing the reanimation of the corpse - be it a virus, chemical, radiation, or whatever. In order for those muscles to contract and flex there has to be electrical activity in the brain - which tissues have to be supplied with oxygen to function.
It is my theory that this "zombie factor" or z-f must cause radical transmogrification of nonessential tissue and body organs to free up vital oxygen since the heart is no longer pumping blood. This causes excruciating pain to whatever psyche still remains, and the zombie understands on an instinctual level that it must feed on fresh, oxygen-rich blood and flesh in order to stave off its own final consumption. The z-f causes certain senses, such as hearing and smell, to be sharpened in order to better find living prey. There is absolutely no reason why a zombie would attack another zombie, except out of sheer desperation and animal instinct - perhaps such "cannibalism" occurs late in the zombies short existence, as the z-f continues devouring the zombies own body in order to produce oxygen to keep the brain and muscles working.
