What's your opinion? I believe that they should because without the holders in the competition it ruins it a bit

Nope - the rules are there and they shud be followed
I disagree with the rules BUT you cant change them at a time like this - they shud be changed at the beginning of a new season

How can a winner not be allowed to defend the trophy. The rules should be changed now and not next season. How many times will UEFA continue to screw up.

NO,its their own fault they finished 5th and the rules should be followed :) .Although if man united was in the same position i would want them to defend the champions league
If we aren't allowed back in, then they must rename the tournament. How can you have a Champion's League if the champions aren't in it? [-(

then hitman why not take the name seriously in the first place and not just have the champions of each country? i am only kidding as i like to see chances being given and big sides do have an off season- but 4 teams is what is permitted - so it is down to the FA now
I REALLY DON'T think the English FA will budge. If anything is to happen it will be done by UEFA

lets not forget the influence the G14 clubs have! i wouldnt be surprised if collective bargaining wasnt used - already seen milan come out in support if lpool - wouldnt be surprised to soon see the likes of barca, real and juve follow suit
The rules are already implemented and Liverpool understood them at the start of the season, yes? Then well stick to the rules and I say No. I am not speaking this out of a united fan, but simply following the rules.
I mean, it is great and all that you are "Champions of Europe" but it is a shame you cannot even make it into the top 4 of the premiership!

Its pathetic really how can the bloody champions not get a chance to defend their title. Its really stupid its like telling chelsea they are relageted from the premiership so next season they cant defend their title then arsenal become champions, hmmm......... i wouldnt mind that actially.
Who's fault is that? They are good enough to win the champions league, but they cannot even finish fourth int he premiership when they are known as one of the "elite 4" Heck they got outclassed by Everton!

What kind of rules would they be if they got changed mid-season (or during a campaign which has already been completed)
Liverpool were aware of the rules and its no one BUT their own fault that they finished 5th!
I personally think the Champions shud automatically be entered for the following year BUT thats not in Uefa's rules so nowt can be done!
If they want to change the rule then it must be done before next season begins so it can take effect for the season after!

Football is massive now, alot of money goes into it. I dont think the sponsors of the CL will agree to not having Liverpool in the CL. They (sponsors) will get involved, if UEFA doesnt do something. Somebody somewhere has to make a very brave decision.
The last time this happend, cant remember when it was, Real Madrid finnished 5th. The Spanish FA kept it simple by allowing Real over the team which finnished 4th to enter.
After the heart Liverpool showed in the final, everyone wants to see them play next year.

Faisal Akthar, the rules are there to implement and should be followed. The Spanish FA allowed Real to bypass fourth, so if anything, this matter should between English FA and Liverpool.

yep - a two legged play off would be best way. I know everton may try a lawsuit but it didnt work for zaragoza as the FA have final say in a matter like this

But thats not fair on everton becuase financially getting into the cl means alot to them. I think liverpool should play a team in the qualification rounds to get in.
