I'm attempting to create a ranking system for us PPer Battrickers.

The ranking system is simple, the higher your league the higher you'll be on these rankings. After the league, your standing in your league counts.
I think people with same league and position should have their points considered for these rankings and if the points are equal as well their NRR should come into equation but that'd take too much time for now.

Flawed as iqbal should argueable be number one for OD's.

He's in division V because he participates in the English league which is much much harder.

I suggest that you base the ranking systems on reporters summary of matches and try to number certain ones and add them up and come up with an index number type of thing - if you have the time!

The best way to work out ratings would be through a combination of reporters summary and individual players skills, there used to be a programme called batstats that did this although it doesnt exit anymore but you could use the formula they used.
+ 3 top order
+ 4 middle order
+ 4 lower order
+ no. of seam bowlers seam ratings
+ no. of spin bowlers spin rating
+ 1fielding
im not sure how the formula is worked out but i will have a hunt around and see if i can find any programmes that show you this rating.

So there you have it my batstats ranking is 117.

Great idea wasim as this should give us a good idea of who has the best team on here, i would assume it would be falcons or hamblin and tawheed would be quite high aswell.

So did I. Well attempt failed then. I guess one of you experienced guys should run a ranking system until we newbies understand the system.

If everybody posts a reporters summary that is there best and tells me how many spinners they used i can make a ranking list from that.

As for the ranking system its very basic all you have to do is get your repoters summary and then do this sum
top order rating x3
middle order rating x4
lower order rating x4
number of seam bowlers x seam ratings
number of spin bowlers x spin rating
fielding x1
Then add those together and you get your final rating.

I used your league game for ratings so since then you bought in a remarkable batter so that should push up your rating by 4 or 5 points but you did sell a strong bowler so that would bring down your bowling rating but i would expect you to push up by a couple of points and go top of our rankings.
Your playing me in the cup so depending on if you TIE or PAN i should be able to redo your rating from the reporters summary i get from that game.

Yeh i do try and keep up to date with the transfer market as i think its the best way to improve your team and its a good way to scout your opposition eg your currently in the market looking for a bowler at the moment as you sold your 5th bowler, although it looks like you have been priced out of the one you wanted.

the first number of these two brackets from each of the above brackets is the rating of the seam and then spin bowling. the second number is the number of that type of bowler that you have playing

for 3 x 5 - the rating is woeful and all 5 bowlers who bowled were seamers thus 0 x 0 for the spinner bracket


if it was (3 x 4) + (3x1)then the rating for the seamers would be woeful still but only 4 seamers played the match and thus the other bowler was a spinner who also got woeful.

So as kamran said, you take the rating and multiply it by the number of bowlers you have of that categoary (category being limited to seamer or spinner).

that means the 5th bowler was a spinner and if the bowling rating

the bold section relates to the type of bowler and how many of you have, in the example above there are 4 seamers and 1 spinner
now if you had 0 spinners and 5 seamers then the sum would be -
(4 x 3) + (3 x 4) + (1 x 4) + (3 x 5) + (0 x 0 ) + (3) = 46
if you had 2 spinners and 3 seamers it would be -
(4 x 3) + (3 x 4) + (1 x 4) + (3 x 3) + (3 x 2 ) + (3) = 46

Yes it is, although with this ranking system its more based on squad development then performance.I suppose we could try to add an additional criteria based on wins and losses but im not sure how accurate it would be as some teams would have easier leagues than others.If you have any suggestions feel free to add them.

Idea!

Lets base the ranking on only the matches we play each other. This way, good squad or not, the team that actually wins gets the points, just like in real cricket!

So the friendlies we play (and we all play each other almost every week) and the games we'll play in the upcoming tournament should be the only matches that count. Afterall, its PP ranking, not your league ranking.
