Atleast Batty can now say he atleast took part in the game, unlike the first test where he did not bat, bowl or field (no catches).

Doubt if he bats or bowls in this game aswell :D
Why was he selected for...
Would have been better to give Pieterson a chance.

Rob H
3rd June 2005, 13:25
Hope they bowl Batty in the 2nd innings as he deserves toi do something in the game.

Doubt Pieterson would have got to do much either. Bangladesh's bowlers seem incapable of taking more than 2 or 3 wickets.

Would have been good to see FLintoff and Pieterson going hell for leather against the hapless Bangladesh bowlers... Game could have been over inside 2 days...

Bangladesh are very very poor, If they can just bat for 3hrs-4hrs they do not deserve to play test cricket.

England should bat and score at 8 runs an over for the next 30 overs and put Bangladesh back in for 10 overs, and bowl them out tomorrow morning !!!

Officer Barbrady
3rd June 2005, 15:13
This should be Vaughan at his best. I hope to see more of this in the Ashes!

13.6 Anwar Hossain Monir to Vaughan, FOUR, make that three in a row!
short ball, pulled away with ease to the midwicket fence,
expensive start!
13.5 Anwar Hossain Monir to Vaughan, FOUR, shot! Hossain compensates by
pitching it up, Vaughan gets forward and drives it away
beautifully to the deep extra cover boundary, long chase and a
diving attempt ends in vain
13.4 Anwar Hossain Monir to Vaughan, FOUR, short and wide outside the
off stump, begging to be hit, Vaughan gets more than enough time
to get back and smash it away to the cover fence

I can't believe England are wasting time against Bangladesh. Had I been in Vaughan's poistion for both games I would have declared the team on at least 300 and bowl Bangla out twice in one day.

Fessal
4th June 2005, 11:56
Ideally, I would have declared my first innings with same score or forefitted it. In that way it may have been some game.

People will say that would be probably giving Bangla no respect but I think it would have helped England in many ways.

Finishing the game in a day would have mean more rest, or getting some decent practicse by playing county cricket.

Whats the point practicsing againsy Bangla? Also, it would have helped in pushing the suspension on Bangla and ZImb from test as they are not yet ready for it.
