Welcome to the first final of the PakPassion Premier League between Lahore Leopards and Karachi Khanjars. The match is being played at Multan. Our pitch reporter says that it’s a good track and will assist both bowlers and batsmen.
Both teams have won 6 matches out of 8 in the league stage and have scored one victory over each other, so it’s difficult to say which the better team is. On paper, both teams have a very strong batting lineup, and I can guarantee you a run fest out there.
It’s been a long journey to the finals, and we’ve had some fantastic matches and performances. Let’s review them:
MATCHES:
• The tournament started with a nail biter between Lahore Leopards and Rawalpindi Blasters. Lahore Leopards put 269 on the board, and Rawalpindi were 167/6 at one stage and their faith seemed clear, but Napoleon Einstein played a fantastic innings of 84* along with FAM (44*) and they both made 103 runs partnership for the 7th wicket, and got their team through the finishing line. Upset in the first match.
• We witnessed another nail biter between Multan Mughals and Punjab Panthers. Multan Mughals were all out for just 158 on a poor track, but had Punjab 93/6 at one stage, and with Tanvir and Rauf’s few overs left, they seemed to have the job done, but few drop catches from their fielders hit them very badly, and Andrew Symonds and Boi won the match for Punjab.
• We witnessed few records being made in the first league match between Karachi Khanjars and Lahore Leopards. In the match, reduced to 45 overs, thanks to rain, we witnessed Karachi Khanjars putting up a whooping 356 runs on the board, thanks to Monsee’s whopping 182 runs off just 139 balls, and PlanetPakistan’s 125 runs off 96 balls. They both put 279 runs partnership for the 4th wicket and hit Lahore’s bowlers all over the park on the flat track. Karachi fans would never forget that performance, though Lahore fans would want to…
• The match of the tournament no doubt was the match between Punjab Panthers and Multan Mughals in the second round. Punjab openers provided 42 runs start for their team, with their team chasing just 211 runs, but down went few quick wickets and the balance shifted toward Multan, but with Andrew Symonds still on the crease, Punjab hoped that he would see them through just like he did in the first round match against Multan, but he got out at the wrong time, and Punjab couldn’t manage to score 12 runs off the last over, and lost by just 8 runs.
