wht if a guy knows not much about pitching, i mean dont know how to swing or other tricks n stuff but can pitch really quick say above 95 miles, wht do u think is his chances of playing for a major league team. or how effective do u think he can be just with his speed alone?

Most of the guys that get to major league don't know how swing/sink the ball.
Coaches in baseball have bigger role in teaching them.
A guy who could throw at 95 would be considered a talent and will be worked on by pitching coach and most likely be successful.

^^^

completely agree with the above poster

i am a big blue jays supporter and have played for club leagues and school as a hitter as well as a pitcher
most of the pitchers have control by my age which is 18 ......... i donno how to throw a breaking ball or a slider or a cutter .. but i know how to throw change up n fast ball and u gradually learn new tricks

BTW baseball is harder then cricket

I disagree there....
i mean a sport where guys can play upto 42-48 year of age is not harder then a sport where 36 year old struggles to keep his spot.

thank u for answers. so basically u r saying that if u got speed other stuff can be learned. but how hard it is to learn how to curve/spin the ball? and i am talking about for someone who is in his early 20s

curveball pitchers are prone to injuries .. its not the easiest pitch to throw..

sliders are more effective, and there are different types b/c of height, throwing angle, finger placement etc..

curve balls are hardest to learn but are most effective there are only handful of pitchers in MLB who are masters at curveball someone like halladay and aj burnett

slider is easier so is change up

Agreed... halladay has one of the nastiest curve ball in the game... he seriously gets it to dip at will...

Baseball is just as hard as cricket... both require a certain skill set... so i wouldn't call baseball harder then cricket or vice versa...
