I feel that a person should always look good, and in today's day and age everyone is after that perfect look, and without confidence that look cannot be achieved. A person's hair plays an important role in feeling confident

Nida Amir talked to P&G Head and Shoulder’s new Brand Ambassador Shahid Khan Afridi. He revealed Head & Shoulders shampoo to be the secret to his healthy hair that helped him build confidence by eliminating his dandruff entirely.

Afridi is known for his aggressive batting style, and currently holds the highest career strike rate in the history of international cricket. He has also been the best bowler of 2007-8. In a recent survey, Afridi was named the most popular cricketer of Pakistan.

NA: I wanted to know, what made you choose Head & Shoulders?

SA: I have been using Head & Shoulders for a long time, even before I was working with P&G. As you know I have always been working with various drink manufacturers, and I was delighted when P&G asked me to become the brand ambassador for Head and Shoulders, as I had already been using their product.

NA: Have you always had healthy hair, or is Head & Shoulders the secret behind your healthy head of hair?

SA: You can say that. Of course genetics also play a major part in the health of one’s hair, and I have always had healthy hair naturally. Head & Shoulders helps me maintain that.

NA: What do you think about your partnership?

SA: I am having a lot of fun, the crew at P&G is excellent. They have really taken care of me, even on our travels abroad. It feels great working with them.

NA: The brand promise of P&G is that they want to help you build your confidence, how do you feel about this?

SA: I feel that a person should always look good, and in today’s day and age everyone is after that perfect look, and with out confidence that look cannot be achieved. A person’s hair plays an important role in feeling confident.

NA: How important is your confidence for you as a cricket player?

SA: When you get on the field, your confidence level should be very high. Your body language should be very positive so that you can perform well. One should be completely satisfied by their personal appearance, and unless that positive attitude is achieved, one cannot perform well.

NA: Obviously if your hair is looking good, you would feel more confident.

SA: Well it’s not just hair, you should be satisfied with everything, your overall look.

NA: Since when have you been using Head & Shoulders and how do you actually feel after using the product?

SA: I have been using it since I did have a dandruff problem before. To be honest, I was not regular in using the shampoo. Ever since I’ve signed the contract with P&G, it’s been coming to my home more often as well, so my use has become very regular. And it has worked wonders in eliminating my dandruff completely. I would say my dandruff has gone away almost 100 percent.

NA: Let’s talk a little about your upcoming future plans, apart from your plans with P&G, what are your plans for cricket?

SA: We will be playing for the ‘Pentangular’ cup; I am the captain for the province of Sindh. We have had one match already and we won by a lead of our first inning, the second match will be against Balochistan. The competition is good and a tour of Abu Dhabi is coming up followed by a tour of India, or maybe they will be coming to Pakistan. After that the IPL, so cricket is going on.

NA: Apart from cricket, what else do you enjoy doing?

SA: I enjoy swimming, table tennis and I used to enjoy music but that was a long time back.

NA: Your lifestyle must be very healthy

SA: Yes, I must maintain it for cricket, it’s a healthy and fun sport, and it keeps one fit.

NA: What’s your favourite country or place to play in?

SA: Australia is a lot of fun to play in, the atmosphere and the pitches are very good and the bouncy tracks are the best to play in. India is a lot of fun because most of the crowd is against you so the pressure to win is very high, and if you are able to perform, you get a lot of respect.

NA: There is a huge responsibility on your shoulders, as you are the role model for millions of Pakistanis, do you feel the pressure of that?

SA: There is a lot of pressure to perform and the amount of traveling involved is also very high. One has to face the people after performing as well.

NA: How do you relax?

SA: By performing well. There is a lot of pressure in cricket these days, if I perform well today, and in the next match I don’t, my good performance becomes equal to the bad. Cricket is so intense that you have to perform well in each match.

NA: So lots of tours are coming up and cricket is your passion and you enjoy that a lot. Thank you so much for talking to us and best of luck for the matches.

SA: It was my pleasure. *

If you happen to be a fan of head & shoulders or a shareholder in P&G.

This was nothing but a product sell interview.

omg :))) :))) brilliant interview, for me the most hilarious thing about it is that, as Dblock says, this is a promotional interview, and despite that he rather brazenly says:

Of course genetics also play a major part in the health of one’s hair, and I have always had healthy hair naturally.
:))) he'll stab his advertisers if he wants to, honestly is this guy from earth?! What a beast!

:))) :))) absolutely love the new addition to the beast vernacular :)))

And what brutal, brutal honesty from Afridi.

Seriously, the guy is being paid to promote a product for hair, and he undermines it by choosing to include the fact that it's genetics as much as anything. What violent integrity! I'd make him captain of our team based on this interview alone.

I was gonna say that, but I read down, and he actually chats about cricket for a while, so I'm fairly chuffed.:D

Is "Head and Shoulders" any good for the "Head" apart from hair ? I hope it is, since Afridi desperately needs something that can cool it off...
