LAHORE: Former Test cricketer and that Director National Cricket Academy (DNCA) Aamir Sohail urged the upcoming cricket series between Indian and Pakistan should be held for the betterment of the Asian cricket while adding that the possibilities for the series could not be ruled out.
This he said while talking to media in Lahore. Former player said that the cricket series between India and Pakistan always catches attention of cricket lovers here in Asia maintaining that good cricketing relations between both neighboring countries help promote cricket in Asia.
He regretted that lack of international cricket in Pakistan, in the year 2008, has contributed a great deal in causing harm to Pakistan cricket.

I don't any journalists have asked the Indian player's opinion yet. What with them being in the middle of a series.

I badly want this series to go ahead as planned. I've been anticipating it for a long time now. :(

Its almost becoming embarrassing now, why is it that all of our former players are coming out with a begging bowl in their hands, pleading India to play cricket with us?
Even at this time where we have everyone from the rickshaw driver in India, to the media and to their politicians , saying Pakistan is a 'terrorist' state and there are chants of "Pakistani hai hai", heck.. even former Indian players and artistes (like Jagjit Singh) are coming up with anti-Pakistan rhetoric --- and here we are, with the PCB chief running over to India to beg them to play cricket with us.
Do we have no shame at all ? or is playing cricket with India such an important matter that we are prepared to carry on begging and let India continue to humilate us further!
Only last week I believe the Indian Sports Minister was on record saying "How can we play cricket with one team from that country, when another team from Pakistan has already come and killed all these innocent ppl in Mumbai". And we talk about sports and politics not mixing.. this statement says it all. They are talking about our cricket team in the same breath as a terrorist 'team'.. how absurd.
I must say credit to Rashid Latif, the one former Pakistani player who has actually come out and said lets boycott India, lets boycott their leagues - ICL and IPL -- and he's spot on , is this the time to play cricket with them when there is such hatred for Pakistan among their ppl (thanks mainly to their media and politicians from RSS, BJP and Bajrang Dal), there is a belief in India that their country is pure as milk ("mera mahaan Bharat", this image created by Bollywood), all problems in their country are not their fault at all, its all due to Pakistan..
Does it really make sense to even think about playing cricket in such a climate, where the people in India probably look it as a match between good and evil ?

It will be interesting to see if the PCB takes a stand now on the players who go and take part in IPL. Let's make a point to the BCCI.
Then again I suppose, maybe the PCB are getting their cut out of the IPL deals..
