PESHAWAR: Star batsman Yasir Hameed on Monday expressed optimism about the team’s success against England in the October-December home series and said the morale of the captain counts the most on the team’s performance.

Talking to APP here Yasir Hameed, who stamped his presence in international cricket with two Test centuries on debut and becoming the second player to achieve this feat, said a confident skipper like Inzamam and guidance of the coach have steered the Pakistani team to be a formidable side in the world of cricket.

Yasir, known for his perfect timing and the style he uses for single-minded gap shots, said he was working hard to regain his form and bat well against any bowler.

Peshawar-born Yasir joined Test cricket after an incredible show during his first-class career where he has played 83 matches and scored 4,750 runs with nine hundreds and 25 fifties.

He added that good technique coupled with a great eye has helped him in his career so far. Having built a superb combination with Imran Farhat as opener against New Zealand at home, Yasir was very excited about that form.

"I am very touchy about my form and surely on some time it has broken down my concentration while batting. This is alarming," he added.

"When a batsman is not in form he will have no worries rather he’ll have more time to concentrate on graceful batting," Yasir said.

"I am not throwing it away as I was known for rather I am giving more time to reserve my wicket which keeps me away from my actual style of fluent batting," Yasir remarked.

Yasir who has so far played 17 Tests and scored 1,168 runs at an average of 38.39 and made two centuries and seven fifties, said he was doing more in term of good batting and wanted to play a key role always in the team line-up.

About his form against Australia, he said, he loved to play against McGrath and Gillespie whose bowling always remains in line. Both maintain a good line and length and always remained a threat for the batsmen, he added.

He rated England as a tough side as it has come out as the most balanced side of the world in the recent past. However, Yasir was sure that Pakistani team under the strong leadership of Inzamam would give them a daunting task.

The thought of yasir facing line and legnth bowlers like flintoff harmison hoggard has got FISH written all over it. By the end of the series he would have enough fish to feed the whole of pakistan.

I suppose this is an URDU to English translation of "Aik Dimagh say shot khelna" ( not that I have ever used such a sentence - but worth a try )

I'm impressed by his PR skills: flattering the captain/coach and building himself. Almost wasted in cricket!
