Lots of players have great first seasons.

Let's have a proper look at the likes of Nasir, Khurram, Ahmed Shahzad and Umar Amin first.

He's only 18 his time will come.

Umar Akmal was super in his first season according to his stats - but hasnt done the same this year. And also as stated above, we have strong competition just now for that spot.

This guy is supremely talented and has a bright future if he keeps on persisting with his great scores. I am sure the selectors have an eye on him since he was selected for the Patrons XI. Although I think the selectors are waiting for him to show consistency by playing well two years in a row.

A bit... when I went to Pakistan a few years back.. but he was a young kid back then. He was probably 16ish at that time. Although he could bat really well. I know him cause he's my cousin's friend.

I played a tape ball game with him, he was hands down better then everyone there but he can hit the ball a mile that's for sure.

i would be wary of juding players based on their domestic record.

We have seen recently khurram Manzoor, Khalid latif, Shoaib Khan struggle against international attacks.

yup... that's why it's best that the selectors actually watch the games at the ground instead of just looking at the stats. Also, consistency is the best thing when looking at domestic records. Although if you look at Ramprakash or Hick even consistency wasn't good enough lol.

As stated by mohammad wasim... the difference between department competition (Group A) and regional (Group B) is a quarter mile. He is representing Hyderabad and has done really well against other regional teams.

He is talented and has been picked... selectors must have seen something.

Actually this is sort of his 2nd season

He made his debut in December 2007 and he played 3 matches - scoring 346 at an average of 57

The stats are impressive so far BUT as you say other guys are ahead in the pecking order - lets just hope YK is the revolutionary everyone is thinking he is and will give the younger players a chance

Yeah hes done well but lets c him re produce these stats for the next 2-3yrs before we can consider him for national team

Also i feel that openers need to be more mature and have a lot of first class runs under their belt before they can do justice as intnly

A 20 yr old opener will more than likely struggle in overseas conditions but a 25 yr old whos been playing first class cricket for 5-8 yrs will adapt better and have a little bit more experience of such conditions

Lot of players perform well one season and one season only

If he makes into the playing 11 in the 2-dayer against Srilankans, and can perform with the bat with a heavy ton... than he surely would be inline for selection in next couple of months...
