1.Saeed anwar
2.wasim akram
3.Waqar younis
4.Saqlain mushtaq
5.Mushtaq ahmad
6.Moin khan
7.Rashid latif
8.Mohammad yousuf

here i m just enumerating the players who were world beaters;not mentioning players like imran nazir, farhat, shabbir, rana naved etc. I guess if PCB had shown maturity during adversities,we would have been much better.Hope PCB learns from its past blunders and act in a sensible way in future.

You can add Inzamam Ul-Haq in this list. He is probably the most missed player here coz oh his calmness in preassure-situations.

Waqar, Wasim, Rashid, Mushy and Moin would/should've retired around when they did anyway. Though they should've got a better send off
Razzaq, Sami and MoYo made their own choices. The PCB treats all it's players badly, only these lot left.
Saeed Anwar and Saqlain Mushtaq are the only two that were let down big time!

Here is the list of players we have lost since 2003, all to age.
1 Langer
2 Hayden
3 Martyn
4 Waugh
5 Waugh
6 Lehman
7 Gilchrist
8 Warne
9 Gillespie
10 McGrath
11 McGill
Aus are still going alright. And I think you would find that the Pakistan team is actually not that bad if you could ever see them play regularly.
Bowling is weaker than it has been for some time but then again so is Australia's.
Of the list in the OP, only Saqlain you could argue was PCB's fault. Anwar retired a bit early but that happens. The others either retired or choose to take the Indian money instead of representing their country. Neither of those things were the fault of the PCB.
Everything else in Pakistan cricket however, is the fault of the PCB.

Even though Saeed Anwar scored a century in his last match, but he was not match fit and PCB did the right thing to let him go. He lost his interest in cricket long time ago due to religious focus, so that was the right call from PCB.
Saqlain was on his decline and was not the same bowler when he was given chance in his last few test matches. He had become quite predictable and was figured out by most batsmen of the world, thanks to his broad exposure of county cricket where players share information about each others. He is also one of those who lost focus in cricket due to religious reasons. Another right call from PCB.

More like the worst decision ever made by the PCB. Saqlain wasn't ineffective. He struggled due to injury and was in and out due to that. As soon as he recovered, he should've been brought. Someone with such a record cannot be ignored. It's like dropping Warne after a bad series in India.

I agree. Saqlain was a rare talent. He has gone down in history as someone who took off-spin bowling to a new-level..a pioneer of cricket!
The only reason he stopped was due to his injuries and operations. As soon as he recovered PCB should have helped him back to the international stage, but they ended up neglecting him..
I also doubt he lost interest due to religious reasons after all he is still playing cricket and has been playing cricket for a while since he became religious.
Its true that pakistan has lost quality players...but maybe this is a blessing in disguise. I believe that due to our passion and determination, new talent will sprout and may already be there like a diamond in the rough. All it requires is that the PCB do there job properly and improve our domestic infrastructure in order for us to spot the talent and harness it as well.

Look at the support Warne got after his drugs ban. Aus knew he was their superstar bowler and made sure he came back into the game better than ever. If only the mongs at the PCB had the same level of care and understanding of the game.

He played only 4 test matches in his last 2 years ( from 2002 -2004) and took only 10 wickets. It was not just bad performance against India, tok 2 wickets against Bangladesh ( in almost 27 overs), 7 wickets against South Africa in 2 test matches.
Saqlain was not the same bowler as he used to be and most of the Pakistani fans are used to be in living the past. They seems to be having trouble with their memories and keep bringing the old legends in different discussions without realizing that lot of these players have past their prime and were rightly dropped.

saqlain was recalled back into the team against india when he wasn't fully fit i remember an interview where he said they expected him to perform right away...when he didnt he was dropped and never recalled...also nobody bothered to monitor his progress recovering from a serious knee injury...he had a lot of cricket left in him but pakistan is famous for discarding players like they're nothing...calling them back and expecting them to win a match singlehandedly...

Saqlain was injured and was never given consistent chances to prove himself. Even with those performance , he was and is still better than anyone we have at the moment. He is still young enough top play for 5 years or more. I think Pak has to bring him back. Although they have wasted most of his career, he can still do a lot for Pakitan even now.

Most of them would ve retired a yr or after the wc 2003 anyway, obviously it couldve been handled better, players could ve been slowly slowly one by one let goand the players couldve been given a better send off. Most of them players were on a downward spiral. And we all know in pak cricket no one retires gracefully they have to be pushed out
Mo yo and razzaq made their choices, pcb didnt let them down, they left pakistan cricket.
Saqi was let down, pcb were at fault there for treating a player who had a lot more to offer, poorly
Sami :)) :)) :)) he had more than enough chances, he should thank pcb!!!!!!!!!

with the talent we had in the 90s we should have dominated the world cricket like Australia did for the past 10 yrs or so. But due to internal politics and unprofessional management, we were only an above average team or at best we were second ranked for few years.
I dont think we will ever have that kind of talent in the future, so i think, to become the number 1 team in the future is very bleak. with the way current setup is going, i wud like to see our team compete well with other teams, let alone seeing our team being number one or one of the top 3 teams.

i think you should shut up because he was the only player who showed up to play against ireland in the WORLD CUP.
it seriuosly makes me angry when idiots spread their hate toward sami, a man who gave everything his body has to try to keep pakistan alive in the most recent world cup we played..
shame on you.
