optimally you will need 12 feet of open area in front of TV. Next game to look for is Bumboo Cricket where you can actually hold a bat while batting. No more hand/palm batting

Is that 12feet sideways only or back and forward also?

I own a Wii and a Xbox 360. I can't give you a comparison against the PS3, but in my case, I prefer the xbox.
There are more grown up games available for the xbox than there are for the Wii. The one adult oriented game I've played and thoroughly enjoyed on the Wii has been Resident Evil 4. Apart from this, I find it lean pickings. Even if you come across any decent games, the reviews often indicate that the controls are a bit clunky to use.
On the plus side, games like Mario Kart and Mario Galaxy and even De Blob are good fun, but in the long run they are games which appeal more to kids or are fun for guests at a party. After the novelty of the controls wears off, the Wii basically sits around gathering dust.

Play 'Virtual Girlfriend 3D' on the Wii

i have a Wii - i dont really play it but my sons love it
i think its more for younger people but no doubt you can have some great fun playing beach cricket or boxing against your friends/family lol
most games are really aimed for kids, so theres not much variety for adults, thats the only problem. i also dont think the graphics are as good as the ps3 or other latest consoles

So you sayn the Wii is more of an active and laidback console for fun and messing around, while the Xbox and Ps3 are grown up and are for proper gaming?
Nintendo Wii is NOT a serious gaming console.

Nintendo Wii is NOT a serious gaming console.
Ox you got one?
i dont mind it not being serious gaming console, afterall playing games is for the fun and enjoyment of it, but Wii i beleive is under-rated by many or am i wrong?
want to knwo how good and the pros and cons before i spend my money on it

Yes I have one.
I have never played on PS1/2/3 or any of the other serious games consoles, as I dont like gaming!
However, I'll ocassionally have a go on the Wii.
People who like PS3 tend to hate Wii's as they believe gaming should be serious and not open to 'casual fun gamers' like me :)
And I think the sales figures will back 'my lot' up :)

You would need few matches in Wii boxing against me to have sore shoulders next morning, unless you are real life boxer. (Cause I would knock you out in no time :) )
As for Bowling: recently my son is beating me a lot. He averages 205+??? (he will be six soon)
Very difficult to get a gold in Billiard. My highest score is 53. Got a silver for that :( .

As for space, need 12x12 (feet) at least. Two player tennis can be problematic if space is any less. And make sure you have the strap on. You don't want a busted TV anyways.
What better way to exercise when it is raining outside and you don't feel like going to the Gym? Ofcourse you have to have a good sport to play with.

Since I am not a gamer at all and wrong side of 40, I like wii better.

Yep that's a pretty good summation of what I'm saying.

Wii may be a good game console but it does not have media capability. I do not think it can even use network.

Thanks for that advice, was going off the Wii but you kind of sold it to me, this a hard choice, most people who like it are kids, old guys (OAP) :D and girls, not many in the 'youngster' categorso bit of risk and 50/50 opinions.

They are called ' fun gamers' - its a massive market. The Wii caters for this market.
Apart from myself & Saj - I cant see how it would interest anyone else on PP.

Well you can play games online - ours is connected to other Wii's through my wireless network
But I agree, it doesnt play DVDs...doesnt have internet...and doesnt make the tea or wash the dishes

What the normal size?
size big issue for me, room pretty small

If you're going to get a Wii, then the games I would recommend (in order) are:
Resident Evil 4
Super Mario Galaxy
De Blob
Mario Kart
You should get Wii sports with it and that is good casual fun.

What games do you get on the Wii sport?
What games do you get on the Wii sport?
They are all mini-games.
To be honest, people that want the Wii - dont ask questions - they want a 'fun-console' for their families and buy it....no questions asked.
We arent fussed on graphics etc
If you have to ask lots of questions about the games etc, to be honest, its not for your - the moment you buy it, you'll be on here saying how 'babyish' it is.

Nicely said, though the problem with me is the space thing
If you spend about 180qd, you would want to do a bit of research on it.
Think if i bought this from Game, i would be able to return it, but you dont get the Wii Sports with any of their bundles and aslo space is a issue
from what i can tell their is a difference of an opinion, at times i do like playing games seriously but at other times perefer having a bit of fun and mess around so maybe Wii could be for me
What gadgets or remotes or whatever, do i have to buy, their some numchunks and some others, quite abit, so dont know which ones i would need?
a console with a game is around 180qd, so to add on other features which are not a must but quite important to get proper fun, how much would the bill come upto?

Is 6.5x3.5 feet enough space needed to play the Wii?

That's ample space. As Oxy said, his son's room is the size of a single bed. Just put a wrist-strap on to make sure you don't lose control of the remote.
One piece of advice. Don't go crazy with buying extra controllers. I bought 4 controllers and numchucks and a couple hardly get used, especially as some games are designed for only 1-2 players. A lotta money wasted on those.
To be honest though I think you're just talking yourself into buying one. I do the same thing myself and seriously dude, if you're happy with your PS3, I wouldn't bother getting a Wii.
There are some fun games on the Wii and it will get better as more games are developed for it, but it's basically a fun console, ideal for kids and families. If you're a gamer into FPS and high-end graphics, you're not going to get a lot out of a Wii. Go for a xbox 360 instead. Between that and your PS3, you'll have a whole world full of fantastic games to play.
I have almost finished playing Resident Evil 5 on the xbox 360 and have picked up Call Of Duty 3 (never played that series before) and am having a blast. I'm going to have to go buy COD 4 and 5 soon.

Not the size of my bed but the area in my room which i can move about in, would you say it is enough?
Though if i didn't have enough room maybe jumping on my bed is the next option :D
