what about this!
Surely Akhtar is an asset for Pakistan...no matter what...
He always complains about too many cricket being played!
Why dont we just play him in test matches...
this will take some work load off him!!
And we do not have many pace bowlers to play TEST CRICKET
He can consider a return to ODI near the world cup!
In this way he might stay fit..

i have said this for a while as have others.

he can improve his fitness, get out of habit of bowling 4 overs max, we need him fully focused in tests. In one dayers - we have sufficient cover

Yeh i completely agree!
He is a great test match bowler!
The board should talk to him and ask for his opinion
Lets not waste him!

ofcourse he should!
He is no doubt our best test bowler currently...
atleast best test PACE bowler!

AJ - does have a point- no doubting akhtar's talent - but we must move pass this - like majid khan said - better off picking team players. Some ppl may say - your dropping a world class player - a match winner etc -- well i would say look if he unsettles the side - others may not play to optimum either - team spirit will go down. An experiement of test only would be good and BW hinted at it too - when asked on his site if all pacers were fit who would he have picked for oz in terms of one dayers( 3 to choose) - he picked shabbir,rana, khalil or sami. obviously sees gul as test bowler

i agree with u 100%...and in ODis....he just gives away runs....even razzaq's stats are better than him in ODIs

i think instead of thrwing him out right away we should give him another chance with a TEST only label on him...
see how he performs!!!
especially after we know that Shabbir wont make it to the Test Matches in India and obviously Gul is unfit!
