Ok dont call me racist or watever as Aamer Sohail is my favorite who played for Pakistan but I dont know why he is such a big critic of Karachi based players.

1)Anwar Ali (when he was playing in OD game where he goes for 71 runs he was continously crticizing him for being lack of pace instead bad bowling (133k-135k is lack of pace?)
2)He always rate Muhammad Salman ahead Sarfraz Ahmed (batting wise) even though Muhammad Salman is just one of those flash stroker and Sarfraz a proper hitter/batsmen with nice technique ,he even goes on to say that (when Akmal was in horrendous form) that Salman should be the next one to pick after Akmal.
3)In latest Fawad Alam knock of 70 runs he was continously criticizing Fawad Alam(as some of you have noticed) even though he was hitting in boundaries instead of praising he was just criticizing bowler in his own words (Bowler ne bad bowl kya aur Fawad ne aram se gap mein khel dya when Fawad hit an impossible gap shot without any force for 4 runs)

I had one more point in my mind but that just runs away from my mind due the detail I put in first 3.

Well i don't know if Aamir Sohail hates Karachi based players or not. I would even go as far as saying some of the Karachi players have been treated unfairly due to Lahore based administrators.

But having said that Aamir Sohail did select Asim Kamal and gave him debut. I would certainly say Aamir Sohail does have his favorites like Mohammad Hafeez. Aamir bought Hafeez into the team and use to give a lot of backing during his commentaries. Aamir use to make out Hafeez was going to be next Viv Richards. Sadly for Hafeez his honeymoon only lasted until he came across Shaun Pollock in 2003. Pollock made Hafeez look like a local club player.

Can't say about Anwar Ali.. But you are right about Fawad Alam and Sarfraz Ahmed.. But in this tournament, he did praise Sarfraz Ahmed..
Aamir Sohail has always been a big critic of Fawad Alam. Instead of praising Alam, he starts criticising the bowler. And on many occassions, when the other commentator praises Fawad's batting, Aamir Sohail ignores it and starts criticizing Fawad's bowling.

If you are good enough you get selected, there far better players exist other than Karachi, Lahore. Lahore, Karachi is not an issue any more.

Why does a stupid thread like this have to be posted every few weeks? He has been one of the biggest critics of Salman Butt. Does that mean he hates all Lahore based players as well? As for as Mohammad Salman is concerned even Rashid Latif rated him as the best wk in Pakistan that has gone unnoticed.

I am not saying that he loves lahore based players as he was refering Ahmed Shehzad as a tailender yesterday but I am sure he has a personal favorite list of players in which there is no Karachi based player.(Never heard him praising any Karachi based player like he used to praise his personal favorite players)

Can't say for sure about him being prejudiced but his constant praise for Chucker Tind and his constant snubbing of Fawad Alam leaves a lot to be desired.

I would not say he hates Karachi based players for obvious reasons: 1) Hate is a very very strong word and you really dont understand its meaning; 2) Amir Sohail's best opening partner was Karachi based Saeed Anwar (although there may be a professional jealousy on Amir's part which is all ok and part of the game to bring out the best from a person).

The knock against him is that he has a personal favourite players list and he will go to extreme to show them as world-beaters. So yeah in this sense he is really prejudiced.

Regarding Fawad, I remember Imran Khan also criticize his selection in the team a while back ago.

exactly..I wouldn't say that he HATES karachi-based players..but his continuous criticism (which is unfair more often than not) on Fawad Alam and Sarfaraz is not so cool of him.

Amir in his playing days got along better with guys from Karachi( Saeeed, Basit, Rashid, Javid) in mid-late 90's than Guys from Lahore (Akram, Ijaz and Malik)

So why would he HATE karachi based player is beyond me!

If you guys have been following cricket for a while then we should know that Aamir Sohail has his opinions that are different from other players. Aamir Sohail is an eecentric man and I won't pay much attention to what he thinks or say

Dani made his debut when amir was selector. He always rates danish very highly.
He just has list of his favourite players and will always praise them. Its just his nature and nothing to do with hate for karachi players

Kaneria? He made his debut in 2000! Sohail hadn't even retired then IIRC

Kaneria was drafted into the team permanently when Amir was the selector and he use to defend him a lot.

aamir sohails ratings have no merit to me. ever. he was a good batsman. thats it.

after that, with respect to commentary, all he does it point out the obvious after it occurs.

most of the time he is wrong about everything he predicts or claims and is clueless.

I wouldn't pay much attention to people like Ramiz and Aamir who were nothing exceptional when they played and are even less exceptional in stints with PCB or TV.

A comment on the issue in this thread. We, Karachiites should accept some responsibility for the lack of international cricketers from our great city. I don't know why we stopped producing international quality cricketers. Is it the lack of interest in cricket any more, or better opportunity elsewhere or lack of infrastructure, I don't know. I just know that somewhere along the way we lost our bearings and Pakistan is poorer for it.

Wat are u talkin about man...even in the current team their are a few..... We shud rather be worried tht there has only been one balochistani player representing all of balochistan in pakistani colours. Shoaib khan who was only picked for the canada twenty 20 is the only one in god-knows-the-last how-many-years

it is not just aamir sohail who doesnt like fawad alam. i wont use the word "hate" because its too strong like someone else commented.

ramiz raja, waqar younis, aaqib javed, they all dont like fawad because they know he is very good. since 2 years fawad has been sitting on the bench. i see every match pakistan plays and foreign commentators like ian bishop kept asking ramiz and waqar why fawad was not being chosen, but they gave no answers.

whenever you talk to people like assistant coach aaqib, he says "fawad is an all rounder and he needs to improve his bowling". malik is also an all rounder but how is his bowling? afridi is also an all rounder but how is his batting?

these are just stupid excuses, a dying man will clutch a straw and they want any excuse possible to undermine fawad and get him out of the team. even in RBS Cup recently commentators were praising hasan raza and other players much more than fawad alam, who batted with more confidence than hasan raza.
