The PakPassion Mod team has been perusing the memberlist and we've discovered that there are a large number of members who havent posted a single message!!
We do understand that a portion of these accounts belong to guests/lurkers who prefer not to post but needed to register in order to view the forum since we locked it to only be visible to members!
What we need you to do is make a post in this forum with the word 'active' or something to that effect so we know how many of these accounts are in use.
This message will stay in place for a few days before we begin to delete those accounts who havent posted recently so as to clear up the clutter in the memberlist and ensure that only active accounts are listed!
Your help in this matter will be appreciated.
Any questions regarding this announcement should be made by e-mail because this thread is only for checking which members are active. Any other messages posted will be deleted by the moderation team!

i think the better way to track inactive members is to check the number of time someone has logged on to the board instead of checking the posts.

dormant.
BTW, why do you have to post to browse the forum?Strange rule. Not everyone has the time to post regularly.

folks, it's just an audit of inactive or duplicate records which we are tidying.
In a couple of weeks time we will look at the users who have not made a single post and be in touch with them. In the meantime as Merc says a few posts here and there will confirm to us that the username is active.
Thanks.

Is it because you can get the IP address of the user only if he posts ? I think it is like that in public forums.

on this forum we can get the IP address of any user who is browsing PP.net. In fact we can even get the IP address of guests/lurkers who are just browsing the forum.
So no tapioca thats not the reason for the announcement.
Its just that we noticed there were too many accounts with similair names one example is 'Malik KHan' and 'malikkhan'
Now they could be two entirely different people (which is no problem) or it could just be the same user who accidentally signed himself up twice. If thats the case then we will delete the account he is not using!
There are also far too many user accounts with zero posts and we just want to confirm which accounts are failed signups and which are in use!!
Kapiche?

Thanks a lot for the explanation, Merc.
That's just the right way a moderator should react to such a question like that.

You could have replied 'none of your business' or could have raised questions about my intentions on asking a question like that.
I was half expecting such a reply :)
