Pakistan 3 test match series V sri lanka will be a tough Assignment as Sri Lankado currently boast a very talented team and their Recent home test record againstmost nations is a good one. However, Pakistan will be buoyed by the Fact they have never lost a test Series in Sri lanka. Pakistan Also has won the Last Two series it has played in Sri lanka.

Head to Head in Sri Lanka

1985-1986 Sri Lanka v. Pakistan -- Drawn 1-1
1994-1995 Sri Lanka v. Pakistan -- Pakistan 2-0
1996-1997 Sri Lanka v. Pakistan -- Drawn 0-0
1999-2000 Sri Lanka v. Pakistan -- Pakistan 2-0
2005-2006 Sri Lanka v. Pakistan -- Pakistan 1-0

Pakistan's record in Sri Lanka is great, better than any other test side, I'd think. Out of twelves matches in SL, Pak have won 6 and lost only one. They have never lost a test series there and the lone test match defeat happened more than 20 years ago

It'll be tough defending that record. In the last series, Mohammad Asif almost single handedly won the second test for Pakistan. Though Younis Khan's inning in the successful run-chase and Shoaib Malik's marathon match-defending innings in the first test were also very valuable. This time we don't have Asif, and SL have Mendis and Malinga. Pakistan will have to combat Mendis and Malinga on what will be expect pretty dry wickets which will offer turn. However, pakistan have nothing to Fear when playing
This series.

I'm looking forward to some quality test cricket again, the stats show that Pakistan has a good record but it'll be tough. Hopefully there will be decent wickets made for the tests.

The return of MoYo is a big boost though and hopefully the bowlers can take 20 wickets.

Il be grateful if the team manages to draw the series. The Sri Lankan spinners wont be that easy to handle in their own conditions. We also have to contend with malinga as well. Our batting will be tested at all times.

Our bowlers will have to rise to the occasion. Gul will have to get the ball to not only reverse but also at a decent pace.

To be fair the ball does swing a fair bit in sri lanka. Waqar wasim asif have all taken wickets there. Inshallah gul can carry on that good work.

Depending on weather conditions in Sri lanka sometimes you can get very seamer friendly conditions which may benefit Pakistan bowlers alot more.

Doesnt Gul have a problem with the new ball? I am still concerned about his one dimensional nature. I personally dont like seing him bowl yorker after yorker every ball because he puts a lot of pressure on his back and he has already had one severe stress fracture.

Plus in test cricket i have seen his speed decline in his 3rd spell onwards. He only bowls at his full possible pace in his first 2 spells. Against good teams that wont help him especially if there is not enough reverse swing on offer or if he is up against good players.

It would be a very good effort to even draw the series this time around, our bowling isn't as good as it has been in the past, batting looks strong though.

I still remember Shoaib Malik's marathon innings..It was too good.
Looking forward to some quality cricket..It will be a good contest between bat and ball..Both teams have strong batting and bowling line ups.

Gul and Akhtar have not played a test match together since 2004.

Will this series be shown on tv? if so anyone have an idea as to where it will be in the UK?

Im am seriously lookign forward to this, a bit of needle to the action is well due to Pak whooping them in the T20 final.

Shockingly impressive, i consider Sl firm fav for the coming series coz i think Pak bowling lineup is very thin thanks to the selectors, but who knows, maybe Pak might do wonders in Lanka again.

Just like every team which played Pakistan in W T20 was fav against us?

What is wrong with Pakistan bowling? We have Aamer, Gul and Abdul Razzaq and Ajmal. SL could not score many against these players when they had to (T20 WC) so I wont be surprised if Pakistan win this series.

If the bowling is a bit weak then remember that thhe batting will be very strong.

It certainly is a good record that Pakistan has against Sri Lanka.

InshaALLAH they will continue this.

Should be a good series.

Id like to see Ajmal give a go as a Test spinner and see how he goes, i recon he could outbowl Kaneria, then again thats not to hard!

Shoaib Malik outbowled Danish Kaneria in Karachi vs SL this year so it shouldn't be too hard :))

Our fast bowling attack is not at all suited for these pitches.

Gul, Aamer, Rauf are all 'hit the deck' type bowlers who will struggle on these slow and low surfaces.

True maybe they'll have to pitch the ball a bit more. I reckon A.Razzaq will do a decent job. Asif would've been devastating.

One thing is for sure that we are definitely going to see some of the best battles in the field with the likes of M3 bowling to YK,MOYO and Malik who are all very good players of spin
On the other hand likes of GUL, AAMER and AJMAL bowling to Sangakarra, Jayawardene Dilshan etc.
I am really looking forward to it for sure.

Razzaq was good last time in Lanka.

Arafat should have been selected over Rauf.

His skiddy, straight and full bowling is what's needed on these surfaces.

Problem is our bowling, we dont have experience in there. Spinners and gul have to do really well if pakistan want to do well in the series.

and interestingly Sri Lanka's record in Pak is pretty impressive as well. Lets hope we keep our impressive track record against SL in SL !

It ll be very tough Inshallah we ll do well, hopefully we ll play good cricket

I think our batting should be ok seeing as we played em recently and played em well

Bowling apart from gul was shoddy last time, kaneria has to step up or step out

Like to see some of the boys like rauf claiming the other seamers position, hopefully they ll grab the opportunity with both hands

I hope we adopt to conditions ASAP. It might be difficult in start though but if we click as we did in T20 then no stopping.

I dont expect us to loose test series.

Difficult series...really don't know where our test team is. We've some good raw materials but hardly any cricket.

I remember the last series in 05-06. I think that was Shoaib Malik's best innings in test and in the 2nd test Mohammed Asif destroyed Lankans. Sana retired after that test series. Brings back good old memories. Looking forward to some real quality cricket now, I honesty had enough of 2020.

Ya, me too . Inshallah we'll have another good test series there with competitive cricket

If you take Asif out from our last series, i doubt whether Pak would have beaten the lankans. Our batting will most probably hold its own for most of the tour, getting 20 wickets is the problem.

It will be interesting to see how our players adapt to the longer format. On paper SL seems a better team.

Fast Bowling: PAK == SL
Spin Bowling: PAK << SL
Batting : PAK << SL (Yousuf's would be critical)
Fielding : PAK << SL

I daresay our fast bowling is miles ahead of theirs
