ut oiih Uzair Bhai seems like ur CA is similar quality to my SG king Cobra and very good review.
And I've sold my SS Ranger bat to semi-pro guy hes same guy i sold my bubber sher to and he said the bubber sher is amazing test quality and frm the toe to where it says used & recommenced if the ball hits any where between that it flies off it.
JAZZAKALLAH KHAIR
Yeahh since both are Grade 1 willow so they do share characteristic. But Majid Bhai I won't be using my CA 12000 Plus alot in indoors. So far I haven't used it so I will use it once and if anyone from my club wants to use it I will let them use it and then I will store it away. Same thing will apply to my AS V3 once I get it InshALLAH. I will take extra care for AS V3 because it will have more grains compare to my CA 12K.
Good to hear that bro, is that semi-pro guy from CSF? It is good that you have a buyer who can buy your bats. Even not you can easily sell your bats as your bats are in good shape.
yaar Majid Bhai tell us more about your SF and SG bat please? Perhaps compare it with AS V3 :s Your SF thickness is same as Bubber Sher right? Your SF is a gem seriously.

Uncle Sam which bats do you have? Or you have used? Tell us more about your bats? Also can you post pictures of them as well?
JazakALLAH Khair..
I may not have all the pics but will upload later whatever I may dig out but here is a small detail of some of the very fascinating bats I had this year.
Starting with
(1) Gray Nicolls Fusion-2 "Players" bat. This bat was personally custom made for me by Stuart Kranzbuhler of Gray Nicolls Australia. Test Grade English Willow at 2 lbs 7 Oz, it was an unbelievable monster and was the most expensive bats I ever owned. Paid over US$700 for it new. Recently sold it on Ebay Australia after having a great year with it.
(2) Redback "Allegiance". My personal favorite. Test grade supreme class English Willow at 2lbs 8oz . It was custom made for me by Gary Day of Redback Cricket. This bat was bought by a teammate who loves it more than his wife. The pick-up, balance, weight transfer and ping were matchless. I believe Redback Allegiance are perhaps the best custom made bats in the world but then as with all bats with great ping, there is always a slightly higher probability of short life due to soft pressing of the highest grade English willow.
(3) Bradbury's S-500. Bought on a very good deal. Absolutely fantastic bat with highest class English Willow. This bat was given to a friend as a gift who holds the bat dear to the extent that he has made it a decoration piece instead of playing with it. This friend holds a record of having 4 balls lost in one over in over sized cricket ground, you can imagine the size of sixes he had hit.
(4) Canterbury weapon 500 made by Warsop of UK. What else can I say when a bat is made by Warsop? A good friend and teammate wanted to see this bat when he heard about it, he hold the bat and never gave it back to me. Although he did pay me for what I had paid but what an Absolute beauty was it. Only 500 were made by Warsop.
(5) AS-V3 custom made on my request in their Sialkot Factory. It was an extremely good bat but the pick-up and balance was not near to my already spoiled level of playing with high End custom made English bats. I sold it on Ebay without even taking off the plastic packing. Someone in France bought it and is happy with it.
(6) SS Ton L.E. bat which was a personal bat of some Karthik guy who has played for India. Absolutely cracker of a bat but the handle split while I was practicing. The bat was unfortunately stolen from me before I could send it for a handle replacement.
(7) CJI Limited Edition Fatso (the Fat a$$). The bat was a monster but too heavy to play with for my liking. Sold it to someone in California.
Currently, I have a Slazenger "The Don" cricket bat. Only 100 of these super class bats were made in tribute to the great Don Bradman himself. This bat is more of a collector's item with laser engraved hallmarks and really too good to be played with. Slazenger made sure that ever aspect of these 100 bats is unsurpassed. I just have this bat sitting on shelf.
And finally, I have recently placed an order for a bat which is illegal by ICC specs due to having an extra wide blade. I am bound not to disclose the manufacture's name as they might get into trouble for taking their chances with ICC regulations but will post the pics of the blank bat once received.
Don’t get me wrong here, I hold great respect for Asian bats but almost always, the handle quality disappoints me. In my experience, custom made high end English bats are your best bet if u play proper cricket, and Asian bats are best for slogging type batting.
Newbery came up with B-52 bomber bat which is a high end (SPS and Players Edition) English made bat made along the Asian style profile. So it may enjoy the best of both worlds.

^^ Wow !!!
Looks like you have reached the top level in finding the ultimate bats. I played with a Mjolnir SPS and a Private Bin this year. Both were top notch stuff. Looking into trying a custom made Warsop Platinum or a Salix Pod 1 for next year. Any suggestions?
Uncle Sam
17th November 2009, 14:12
I looked at a Pod 1 lil while ago, the profile bow was steep enough to make it look like a spoon ('guess it was an off the shelf product), so if u r opening the innings and looking to hit it over the top in the power plays then it could be your best but u can always have it made with your specs, and obviously you could never go wrong with a Warsop Platinum.
I have heard, and I may wrong, but they say, Salix are now made in india. Some finishing touches are given in UK to justify the "made in England" stickers.
Both are great bats and pricey as well.

Haaa? Ive read on many websites that 90-95% of the crickets are MADE IN INDIA OR PAKISTAN. I know that some custom made cricket bats from UK can be good, but in my opinion, they r not worth the price.
How on earth are English bats best for proper cricket, when almost all the bats in the market are made in the subcontinent? So Kookaburra and Gray Nicholls " are best for slogging type batting" ?
If Cook and co. had a Bubber Sher or a CA PLUS 10000 L.E. in their hands , then they might (accidentally) hit a boundary, so i think get your point.

MashALLAH Uncle Sam amazing bats you had. In fact, for some companies I am not fully aware and I am not quite sure which one are they. I am kinda rookie to these bats and stuff as this is the first time I got interested in bats. However, recently I also joined CSF InshALLAH I'll catch up with these brands soon. How many grains did your Bradbury's S-500 have? I have seen CJI on its website and it is quite thick. Did you by any chance measure the edges or do you know how thick are they?
Sure do post pictures of your "illegal bat" :))
Which Asian brand disappointed you in terms of its handle? So far the only Asian brand I have heard of which had weak handle were Ihsan (Inferno 950) but now I have heard it came with an improved version. Doesn't it also depends how you hold? I know few people they put all of there weight on the handle which in result breaks.

I totally agree with you Dosta.
Asian bats are by far the best mate.
My SF Saphire is the best bat I've ever had better than Hand made Fusions and Laver & Woods which cost £140 more.
Also owned plenty of other Asian bats and are better than English bats which cost £150 more.
I would never buy a English bat again and will always buy CA's, AS, SS, SG, SF and MB Malik's.
This SF & SG look to beat anything I've ever owned.

I am telling you... watch out for it. This bat collecting thing is a severe addiction and you might end up spending a lot of money in quest of finding the ultimate bats. Always keep a conservative approach and ready to resist against the temptation of buying "good looking" bats off the internet. The best way is to ALWAYS pick the bat, hold it and feel the balance and weight transfer. Buying online can be disappointing.
The Bradbury S-500 I had, had 12 ruler straight equally spaced grains on an absolutely Lush cleft of English Willow.
The CJI Fatso I had, had over 50 mm edges. I guess I have posted its pics above somewhere in this thread.
There may be exceptions to handle in Asian bats and obviously there are some very good ones. A teammate who has played against Sri Lanka and represented United States national team in champion's league has a 15 years old CA (Kashmir willow) bat. And this is the only bat he would use. It's handle is still intact in contrast to many Asian bats I have seen with cracked handles, handles not placed perfectly in the splice with rifts filled with filling agents etc. And obviously there may be low end English bats with poor handles. But talking on a broader level, the handle quality of good English made bats edges out for me. Some people may have a different opinion which they are entitled to and I have nothing against it. :)
Here is the cricinfo profile of my teammate...
http://www.cricinfo.com/ci/content/player/25858.html
and not to brag about it but I have a profile on cricinfo as well but would refrain from posting it over here for personal reasons.

Have you played County Cricket in UK or first class cricket in Pakistan if not international cricket yet?
Son, Me and Sam are talking on a whole different level.
Sam, I know Mr Tehsin Ahmed. He has captained the Karachi team that produced 2 captains for Pakistan, Rashid Lateef, and Moin Khan. Tehsin had an elder brother Muqeem if we are on the same page?
And I sent you a private message taking a wild guess as who you may be? :) And I guess you MAY know me as well. I represented Pakistan college eleven against against Sri Lanka college eleven in 90's.

AND we are impressed? Look, it doesnt matter what level of cricket im playing, the fact is that almost every cricket brand is made in Pakistan or India, so why are you even trying to show off with your "English" sticks?
Nothing is English anymore, so get over with it. Custom made bats in england are an exception, but in my and many others opinion theyre not worth the price. Pakistani and Indian bats are high quality bats, used by world class players, so there has never been any doubt about their quality.
Son, Me and Sam are talking on a whole different level. What level are you talking about? Are you a test player? You may be talking on a different level, but it is quite obvious that you dont know much about cricket bats. Even Dilshan use CA in test matches, so your argument is ridiculous.

And your post is absolutely ridiculous as well. No player uses the same brand bat that the sticker on their bats show. Companies like Slazenger, CA, Malik, etc (basically each and every company which makes bats) "sponsor" batsmen, and put their bat stickers on their bats, so they can fool gullible people like you to go buy their bats just because you think a player uses the same one.
Each and every player has their own bat, unbranded, and custom made for their weight, how heavy they want it, grains, etc etc.
And also your post is ridiculous because, just because most people use Asian branded bats these days, doesn't mean they're necessarily better. Yes brands like Slazenger are nothing special but brands like Bradbury and other brands the others have posted here are absolutely amazing bats, much better than any of the other bats you'll ever see. I've tried them, and it's impossible to say in words how outstanding these bats are.
Don't make any judgments on any bats at all before you hold them and pick it up.

Hey Master,
I didn't mean to offend you and apologize if I did. Asian bats are super great bats. I guess I should have rather said that "Custom made High End English bats are not good for slogging", while Asian bats are good for both slogging and text book perfect shots. And yes, thats a fact.
Now, just like you are comfortable playing with Asian bats, there are many Asian test players who prefer using custom English bats.... again, don't mean to brag about it but I met Sangakkara at Warsop's factory in Essex... guess why was he there? Yes, to have a few custom bats made to his own specs ... Back in 2008 I bought a bat from Rana Naveed.. it was custom made by Tim Keely of Newbery and stickered as Gray Nicolls. The point is, each to its own... you prefer Asian bats, and some people may prefer (and can afford) high end custom made English bats .... but we can still be friends :)

Off the shelf bats could be anything..... specially by manufactures who produce bats on mass scale (Like GM, Gray Nicolls, KOOK etc), They do not care much about quality of willow clefts since they have to meet the production demand while you can get a carefully selected willow cleft for a custom bat made according to your specs (but yeah, be ready to pay the high price for good quality). And as someone said above, hardly any of the professional batsmen ever uses an off the shelf bat. Almost all of them are custom made.
I remember playing with a friend's Newbery Series 1... absolutely plank. Did not have a sweet spot AT ALL.
The least impressive bats I experienced are KOOKABURRA and Slazenger, interestingly both are "Non Asian brands" that are made in Asia yet are not better than AS-V3 (which in my opinion is the best Asian bat).

I only have one English brand bat in which I got ripped off badly. As I told you that I am quitw new to this stuff so at that time when I bought the stuff I had no clue what are the characteristic of a good bat. I got Gray Nicolls bat and thought all of them are same and would be amazing bats. But that guy took advantage of my foolness and ripped me off giving me 3 Star set and saying it is best ones. Now I am kinda aware of the bats and when I recall this I feel like hitting my head on the wall really badly. To be honest with you guys at that time I could have bought GM Duelist 707 pads and gloves along Newberry UZI bat but in my mind it was that I want all three things of same brand and more importantly I want GN stuff as MoYo uses it. So because of that I kinda got ripped off.
So Bhai in custom made bats what can you get of yourself? I mean in terms of grains and stuff?
Also why would you rate AS V3 the best Asian bat even above Indian's Kook and Slaz (which are English brands)?

AS V3 = Best Value for your money.
You can have a custom made AS V3 according to your specs (preffered weight, sweet spot location, edge thickness, profile shape, handle size, hard or soft roller pressed, etc all in grade 1 English willow) for about $150.00 delivered internationally in contrast to a CA 10K Plus L.E. for $350.00 or an SS Ton Matrix L.E. Players Edition whatever for $450.00 which in my personal opinion (and I may be wrong) is either equal or less than an AS V3 in terms of balance, pick-up and weight transfer.
for English Custom made, try a Redback Allegiance in 2 lbs 7ish Oz in Grade 1 EW, medium pressed bowed profile, will cost around £140.00 and go thru a few extensive knock-in sessions... most probably, you will find that the whole bat is a sweet spot. :)

I recently ordered AS V3 which costed me $100 CAD. However, CA 10K Plus LE is around $200 CAD as I recently got my CA 12K Plus for $180.
Uhmm can a custom made bat be ordered online? Perhaps for a Pakistani brand?
Btw are you aware of the difference between CA 12K Plus and CA 10K Plus LE?
Another thing if it is hard pressed or soft pressed it just effects the ping right?
I think Majid Bhai has the SS Matrix bat you are talking about. I'll ask him how is it.
Another thing you are quite right that AS V3 seems (I haven't seen it yet so can't say anything for sure so I am just assuming) best value for money because AS V3 costs around Rs. 8300
CA 12K Plus Rs.14300
CA 10K LE around Rs.16000
Ihsan Inferno 950 around Rs. 14000
Bubber Sher Rs. 9000
I remember I once asked UT Sports the price of CA 10K Plus and CA 10K Plus LE (if I were to be precise it was on October 4th 2009). He told me that the price of these both bats is same. I am pretty sure he got confused among them.

These CA prices look iffy.
Plz contact CA Sialkot factory directly to get a price quote on a CA 10K Plus LE.

Soft pressed willow will produce greater ping but there is a trade off of a shorter life span of the bat. The soft pressed bat will probably break sooner than a hard pressed bat.

yes i could have changed the shipping cost while the listing was on but if i bumped up the shipping after the bat ended then it would have put off the winning bidder and if i sold it few weeks b4 the cricket season starts nxt year then surely it would have went for £30-40 more.

Yaar no updates on the bat yet coz koi chance nahin mila bats ko test karne ko and I need to fit a clear sheet on both but I showed them to Zimbabwean pro guy he was full of praises for both bats btw I compared the sound of my SF to dwayne bravo's SF the sound is very similar lush meaty sound when the ball hits the bat.
Dilshan did use SF but that was some really old model. :butt used SF LE in the 1st odi match versus NZL.

ASAWRAB Brother,
Most recent prices of the bats you mentioned above from UT Sports are
Bubber Sher (Sticker version): Rs. 9300
AS V3 (I am not sure which AS bat you are talking about but I am assuming as this is AS's best bat): Rs: 8300
CA 12000 Plus: Rs. 14300
Again the above prices are UT Sports prices which is located in Karachi
The factory price of AS V3 and CA 12000 Plus (CA 12K) are as following
AS V3: $132.50 US Dollars (USD) whereas shipping to Toronto, Canada was $22 but the shipping cost fluctuates due to the country. However, I think Uncle Sam knows someone who is at AS factory (I think he knows Khalid Bhai) so upon Uncle Sam you can get additional discount off the price (I hope he didn't mind if I mentioned his name).
CA 12000 Plus: Around Rs. 16000 whereas I am not sure about the shipping even to Toronto, Canada.
The online websites who are selling these bats for $300-$400 are just ripping you off badly. As they are charging almost double for the bat.
Price wise the best bat among these bats is AS V3 without any doubt. But if your budget is not restricted then surely go for CA 12K. But I am assuming your budget is restricted so go for AS V3. People who have owned AS V3 on this forum as well as other forums were full of praise of AS V3 (Majid Bhai (Majid_V3) and Uncle Sam were among the people who I am talking about from this forum apart from them Usman Bhai (usman_ash14) said this bat is amazing).
AS V3 is amazing bat. It has really good ping, balance, pick up etc everything is quite great in this bat. THe bat might not be very thick compare to CA 12K and Bubber Sher but is certainly a killer of bat and covers alot of distance.
Bubber Sher is more of a slogger player bat. I mean if you play like Afridi then Bubber Sher would be best choice but if you are not Afridi type of player and play more like Yasir Hameed or prefer to play drives over shots (thats what I prefer) then AS V3 or CA 12K would be best choice.
I hope you understood what my point was explaining with those players.
If you can manage to go for CA 12K then go for it. But always keep in mind whatever you see in CA 12K will be present in AS V3. I mean both of these bats have long/big sweet spot and both bats have amazing ping, balance, pickup etc.
I will also post pictures of these three bats so you can draw a better picture yourself. Those pictures might have been posted before but I will repost them for you. At last it is up to you to decide which bat should you go for and not.
I hope it helps!! If you have any other question please do post it. I sincerely apologize for replying late as I got struck in my work.

Uncle Sam's earlier comments on AS V3
(5) AS-V3 custom made on my request in their Sialkot Factory. It was an extremely good bat but the pick-up and balance was not near to my already spoiled level of playing with high End custom made English bats. I sold it on Ebay without even taking off the plastic packing. Someone in France bought it and is happy with it.
Majid Bhai earlier comments on Bubber Sher and AS V3
Out of the CA Plus 5k, Bubber Sher and AS v3 all are really good with light pick ups. Bubber sher is most thickest with 36mm edges and huge spine and pick up is very light, but I dont really like the bubber sher bcoz it doesnt suit my style of play its made for player like Afridi and am more like Yasir Hameed type of player.
My fav is the AS v3 it has the most longest sweetspot and the ping is so good u dont hav to middle the ball or time it to get fours.
Hope it helps mate!!!

If you need bats of Pakistani market price then buy them off UT Sports and/or directly from factory. You will have to pay 2000-3500 Rupees for the shipping but at the end it will be kinda cheaper to what online people sell it for.

SS Ton Gold Edition.
It's 2 lbs 10 Oz blaster.
Have not measured the edges but they are perfectly carved. I would say between 35 to 38 mm. There are 18 grains and I paid quite a lot for it. :)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Slazenger "The Don"... I will see if I could take some pics over the weekend but here are some file pictures and my bat is exactly the same. Graphics, color combination, cosmetics and quality are truly superb. Only 100 of these were made with lazer hallmarks.
This is what Slazenger has to say about it.
The Bradman of cricket bats. The stunning hand selected Grade 1 English Willow clefts have been modelled on the shape as used by sponsored players around the world. Magnificent edges and unparalleled Weight Balancing Technology (WBT) makes 'The Don' the biggest bat in the Slazenger range. Slazenger's unique Rapid Compression System (RCS) rubberised cork handle combines supreme comfort with exceptional strength. The revolutionary, laser etched, face is superbly complemented by the Grade 1 Metalic stickers and Rapid Traction Control (RTC) rubber grip. If you want to play like the worlds best, play with the worlds best, 'The Don'.

^^JazakALLAH Khair for "The Don" pictures. It looks pretty amazing. I quite liked the grip on your "The Don".
SS TON Gold Edition seems to have alot of meat on it. The edges are slightly thicker than Bubber Sher. Again for 2.10 lbs this stick is amazing. I just found one of this bat for around $270 (Canadian Dollars) which I think is quite reasonable and is worth. I mean CA 12000 Plus costed me $180 (Canadian) to buy it from UT Sports. So I can't really find any UT Sports which sells Indian bats either in Pakistan or India. But I am kinda scared of buying an Indian bat because one of my club mate told me that these Indian manufacters mix Kashmiri and English willow so nicely that you can't even spot it. Which is quite hard to believe but...
Another Indian bat which looks really good is the one Majid Bhai recently bought (SF Saphire). That bat has got alot of meat on it as well. its edges are quite thick as well and pretty much same as the above SS TON Gold Edition. To me that bat kinda seems like Powerbow as the shape of these two resembles :(
Atlast I would say great pick Uncle Sam!

^^ Actually you are right about indian bat sellers pulling a quick one on you but the golden rule is, always pick the bat, and feel it before you buy, no matter what brand or what willow grade. Online bat shopping can be disappointing.
I haven't played with the SS Ton Gold and neither plan to do so as someone is interested in buying it.. I will prolly let it for the same price that I paid.
However, this is the bat I am after. Laver & Wood, and Mongoose explored the idea and some manufacturers in india copied the design in Kashmir Willow to sell it for £25.00 but Slaz took it to a new level. The sweet spot and spine is outrageous.

Well you are right that buying a bat online is quite difficult. I currently have 6 bats and out of those 6 bats only one bat was purchased by me. By me I mean that I literally went to the store and picked it up. But when I got that bat I knew nothing about the bats like how they feel and stuff. Even though that bat is not one of the best bat in my collection as it is Grade 3 (I believe) but that bat is quite lucky for me and I love that bat the most loll
I hate these Mongoose bats lolll I hope they don't come onto International scene as I like the current version of the bats much better than Mongoose version loll.
Laver & Wood is that New Zealand brand right? So how will you manage to get it since you are in States? Last thing is Laver & Wood better than Salix or Warsop?

Depending on what are you comparing with what? If apples to apples and oranges to oranges,
Laver & Wood Signature bat costs around $800.00 alone
Salix Pod 1 is about £220.00
and Warsop Venom Pro is about £225.00
All three are the flagship of manufacturers. For me personally, Warsop edges 'em out, but again a player may love and adore a $50.00 Kashmir willow SS Slogger bat than all three.... There are quite a few factors that contribute to being comfortable and confident with a bat. Name brand and high price should hardly ever be one's preference to buy a bat.

Yeah my bat for the next season is on it's way.
I am off to NYC for a couple of weeks and hope that the bat may have arrived by the time I get back home.
I will post pics. This is a custom made experimental stuff that I have been thinking about for a quite a while now but couldn't find any pod shaver willing to break the ICC rules. Cosmetically, this bat may not look a whole lot impressive, its going to be a G2 as I am not willing to gamble much with experimental endeavors.

Jazzak Allah brother! It has 5-6 (which worries me, i hope it's not fake), weight is 2.8 and it was rs.9000. The price makes me think it can't be fake, but the grains say otherwise. I'm not sure if this is another indicator, but the 'Ready to Play' sticker was half-way stuck onto the main lion sticker and half on the bat itself, overlapping. It came off really easily, I thought it was supposed to be part of the main sticker. 1 corner of the main sticker and back sticker weren't stuck down properly, a little double-sided tape did the trick. But then again, I may be nit-picking :/

Mash ALLAH it looks nice bat? By any chance, was it purchased from UT Sports? Also is there a sticker on top of the handle? Having MB logo and size of the handle such as SH. I am familiar with the toe area
My CA 12000 Plus has around 9 grains whereas I have seen CA 12000 Plus with 14-16 grains one as well. Usman Bhai's (usman_ash14) Bubber Sher has around 8 grains (I believe, I think he posted pictures on page 2 or 3 not quite sure). If your grains are straight and the bat has few or no blemishes then it would be original.
As far that "Ready to Play" sticker is concerned it is not part of the main sticker. It is just a small sticker which they put after getting the bat. The Bubber Sher I have is painted version and it also has "Ready to Play" sticker on it. Were there two red lines under "Ready to Play" writing?

I am subtly going off the wall with the blade width .... (like an inch wider than the allowed 4.25 max), and then there are couple of other experimental specs to balance out the weight transfer and light pickup. We will see. :)
And talking about thickness, check out the meat and pure muscle on this baby.... And what makes it Grade 1 English Willow? The weight is only 2.8 Oz and ping goes thru the roof.
You may find thicker bats than this but almost all of them will be around 3lbs. This one is a genuine piece of Test Grade 1+ English Willow.

yar why dont you post some more pics of your bats so we can see whats the real deal with it. Also, on the bottle of linseed oil, it says any cloth you use can spontaneously combust so I have to dispose of it. Would it be safe to keep the cloth until i finish oiling, i mean, what did you guys do?
Cover Drive
16th December 2009, 20:15
Wait how did you oil all at the same time? I mean when you oil the back and the edges (first you oil these two parts) you leave the bat facing down. In other words, when you oil the back and the edges your face of the bat should be faced down. So after 3-4 days you flip it over and oil the front face (only).
As far how many coats should be applied are cocnerned it depends on the bat dryness. Some bats are pre-oiled. If the bat is not pre-oiled then 2 is good.
How I oiled my bat is that I used my fingers.
Hope it helps!

Oh sorry, i have been oiling it over the past 5 days. 1st i did the whole bat, left it face down over 2 days, then i oiled just the face and edges. So that's 1 back coat and 2 face/edge coats. I'll apply one more coat to the face and edges then start knocking :)
Just one thing, when knocking in the edges, does that include the back edges? Even though it's not a regular impact zone, i would assume you knock them anyway?

Waiyya kum!
Leave the bat for a week and let it dry. You will over oil it by applying to much oil to it. Over oiling will ruin your bat and the loses its ping (under oiling the bat is better than over oiling it). In fact, the process of oiling is that first you oil the back and back (not the splice area) and leave it to dry for around 2 days. After that you oil the face and edges but you oiled the whole bat at once so I am not sure what will it do. But my advise to you or what I would do now if I were you was that leave the bat for a week to dry completely before even applying another coat of oil. Don't leave it in sun to dry or near any heating outlet.
When you do knocking you knock the front edges only. Do ever think of knocking the back of the bat or the sides. Again I would start knocking after a week let the bat dry first. When you start knocking slowly start knocking the edges and then start hitting the edges directly at 45 degree angle. If you want I can explain you the knocking process at later stage.
Also does your bat face has a scuff sheet on it? I would assume that it doesn't have it yet. But would recommend you putting that after you have knocked your bat.

Waiyyakum brother, no worries!!
Yeahh that is good video to follow. But I would still give it a week to completely dry out and then you can start knocking. The way he is knocking in that video is completely perfect. And you had probably noticed that he never knocked the back edges. In fact, he knocked the front edges (rounded them off) at 45 degree angle. By rounding off the edges there are very slim chances that the bat will crack from the edges. Another thing since your bat has around 6 grains it will require alot of knocking. At last there is no such thing called "over knocking" so no need to worry if you have knocked alot. But see that video one more time before knocking the bat (start slowly and gradually increase the force. Don't start banging at the first hit, it will ruin your bat. I remember I had banged the mallet many times to my GN bat and now when I move my fingers over the toe area I feel a little bump loll)

I mean CA 12000 bat costs 175 $ from the CA factory, and the same bat costs about 15000RS in a shop in pakistan. How do the shops make profit out of it?

No worries mate!
In my opinion what is happening is there is that these CA people are making money as well. I mean that once you email them they (CA Factory) ask you your location that in which part of the world are you located then you tell whereever you are located then what these people do is that they increase the price by a little increment (perhaps factory price for CA 12000 would be Rs. 12000 but they told you Rs.15000 they are making some out of it). If you mail AS people they will tell you AS V3 is around $133 US Dollars whereas UT Sports is selling it for $100 Canadian Dollars. You see the price difference there? In other words, these factory people or that representive who dealt with you through emails is making money
Hope you get what I meant there (I am writing this reply from my phone so if there is any typo or mistake forgive me)

Thanx for the explanation, now i understand better. But it isnt fair, they should have the same price for every customer, location shouldnt cause any difference in price. But suppose this is how things work in pakistan. Maybe i should should call them and speak to them in punjabi :ajmal
Well you are right but I don't think anything can be done and I believe this is how it works in Pakistan. Those people are really smart but you can try giving them a call asking for price and you never you might be successful in finding the real price
By the way brother what are you looking to buy?

Ohh okay. I would say since you are buying alot of gears and stuff I would suggest you to contact other websites as well. Those people do have high price but the thing is that they can give you alot of discount as well since you are buying bunch of things. I am saying that because it is a bit hard for you to directly get it from Pakistan since you have no contacts there. however, I would also suggest giving a call to UT Sports as they have very good prices along good legit stuff. In addition, they can make a good deal with you as well. The reason why I said UT Sports is because my club recently got our uniforms made from them and they gave very good price for them
I hope it helps!

what bat you think might be bettetr between the following, with medium heavy (is it 2.8 etc) and long sweet spot, specially towards the bottom:
1 IHSAN INFERNO 950(IS IT THE LATEST THEY HAVE?) vs CA 12K or Sher Bubber?
2 What is teh best price for them if buying personally in Pa?
Jazakullaha Khair guys!
Serendpity I had a CA + 12k uptil very recently until it got past its age
Let me tell you from my experience it was a hell of a bat. Haven't played with a better bat till now. It weighed 2.8
However, my advice to you is not to look at the brand. Just go to the shop and look at some pieces of willow personaly. See how it balances and whether or not you are comfortable with it.
I got MB Sher Amin 2 days ago. Still haven't batted with it but it looks like a solid bat.

Asalamalakium Brother,
1).
Did you meant to say that is Ihsan Inferno 950 latest bat Ihsan made or is in the market? Either way I don't think Ihsan Inferno 950 is latest bat in the market or in Ihsan products. I have never used Inferno 950 but have surely seen it. However, at that time I did not pay much attention to it. In fact, now I am really keen on having a look at that bat. Anyways, lately I have heard that Inferno 950 are very improved bats and are amazing piece of willow as it has thick edges and long sweet spot. But I am not sure how long its sweet spot is.
In total I have played with my CA 12000 Plus once (properly, the first time I played with it was like 5 minutes or less so I am not considering that at all loll). I "properly" played with it on Saturday against bowling machine and I must say this bat is amazing. The one I have is 2.9 lbs and it is beauty. It has really long sweet spot. The sweet spot just finishes few inches from the bottom of the bat. Perhaps you can say that sweet spot finishes 2-3 inches before the bottom end of the bat. Now as far its ping is concerned it has amazing ping. Even if you don't time the ball properly or don't middle it properly the ball will still manage to cover enough distance. You don't have to use your own power you can depend on the bat. The edges are quite thick as well they are not as thick as Bubber Sher but are pretty thick. Ahh yeahh the balance of this bat is just perfect and it has ultra light pick up.
Now coming to Bubber Sher. This bat is a beast! It has very thick edges. In fact, it the thickest bat I have seen in this weight range (2.8-2.9 lbs). It also has long sweet spot. If you are Afridi type of player then this bat is best for you. I don't know much about this bat as I haven't played alot with this bat. But from non-playing perspective I must say this bat also have very good balance and pick up as well. The painted version of the bat didn't look great (physically) but the new stickered version of Bubber sher is beautiful. One of my club member got it few weeks ago and it looks stunning.
Another bat of which I would like to mention is AS V3. I don't have this bat nor I have seen this bat anywhere in Canada. But from what I have heard this bat is amazing. I heard it also has very long sweetspot and it has very good ping. InshALLAH I will be getting this bat and once I get it I will surely tell you more about this bat.
I got my CA 12000 Plus for Rs. 14300. At the time I got my CA 12000 Plus one of my club member got Bubber Sher and he paid something around Rs. 9000 for it. However, I am not sure about Ihsan Inferno 950 price but I once asked its price long time ago and it was around Rs. 14000. At that time I found Inferno 950 to be a bit over priced. Again I am not sure nor I have any clue of its price at the moment. As V3 is Rs. 8300. All the prices I am telling you are UT Sports prices. I find UT Sports most reliable and most legit store I am aware of. One of PPer poster Uncle Sam's view are that AS V3 is the best Asian bat in terms of its price.
I hope it helps!
If I have missed anything or if you have any question please don't hesitate asking me.

Yes I started on Tuesday. I've been knocking the edges for 30 minutes each day, 15 minutes for each edge. I plan to finish the process by the end of the holidays.
In total i've clocked 2 hours of knocking, so 1 hour per edge. I'm starting the whole face tomorrow :)

There are two stores that I`m aware of in Lahore that sell these bats, one of them is Shahid Sports but they dont have them on display, the guy goes to the factory and brings back with him on your request three or four bubber shers and you pick the one you like (042-7589376, 03004988298) and the other one is Zaidi Sports (042-7414100, 042-74151510 and they have all the bats on display and this shop is located around chaburji. I would recommend Shahid Sports as I bought it from there.
I haven't bought any bats from Lahore so I am not really aware of any stores although I am from Lahore

Today I saw Ihsan Inferno 950. Honestly guys this bat is pretty awesome as well. I never thought that this bat would be soo good but it was amazing. I also held it in my hands and it had beautiful balance and pick up. I would rate this bat among top Pakistani bats. It also has huge middle and sweet spot. It had really long sweet spot, it finishes just before the toe area (according to the shop keeper)
Overall I am impressed with this bat and had underestimated this bat big time
At last, no wonder Chris Gayle uses this bat.

It is very light, feels like 2.6 (altough it's written 2.7 on the bat) , could be that it feels lighter because of the good balance of the bat. Are there any disadvantages with such a light bat? Im thinking about breakage of the willow, handle problems etc.

Walikumasalam Brother,
I was a bit busy few days ago so I didn't really post on PP. Anyways, first of all congratulations for getting a new bat. I hope it last really long! My CA 12000 Plus says 2.9 lbs at the side but it looks a bit lighter than that.
In my opinion I don't think there are any disadvantages of have a light weight bat nor I believe it will break because of its weight. But it all depends on what style and level of cricket you play. I mean if you have someone bowling at you around 90 mph mark then there might be chances of breakage. This bat is a test level bat it is not an oridinary club level bat.
Have you oiled the bat or was it oiled?
Since it has around 16 grains you do not have to knock it in alot. You will have to knock it but it will require less knocking compare to a 9 grains CA 12000 Plus. Higher the amount of grains less knocking it requires. If I were you I would round off the edges then knock the edges for little bit and then knock the toe area. But if your bat is not oiled then you might have to oil the bat and then start knocking.

Every bat has different shape and it is a bit different while compare it to others. The balance does vary in each bat. But the main thing you would look is that how does the bat feel in your hand. One of the reason why I might have liked Inferno 950 and felt good in my hands could be because of its balance and blade. I believe the one I saw had long blade. My Gray Nicolls bat has long blade and its weight or sweetspot is a bit lower down the blade, same thing for Inferno 950. So I use that GN bat and I am used to is so maybe because of that fact I liked Inferno 950
I don't think grains really make a difference. I mean your CA 12000 Plus has around 16 grains whereas my CA 12000 Plus has around 8-9 grains. Both are English Willow, both are Grade 1+ and so on.
Do you mind if I ask you where you got your bat from and for how much did you get it for? I got mines for Rs. 14300 from UT Sports Karachi. I never thought Inferno would be around Rs. 15000. I thought it would be around Rs. 13000 max because I remember I once called Ut Sports back in October and they told me it was around Rs.14000 at that time.

Asalamlakium Brother,
Which bat(s) did you use in past? and which one did you break?
It depends how much you budget is. Buy an English brand bat would be expensive when comparing it to Asian brands bat. For example, look at my case I paid $150 for Gray Nicolls Grade 3 bat and I paid $180 for CA 12000 Plus which is Grade 1. My point here is that the amount you pay for a Grade 3 English brand bat would be near Grade 1 Asian brand bat. Now don't think Asian brands are garbage or poor. If you buy a proper bat in fact that could be as good as English brand bat if not then a bit better
Yes, it is certainly worth going from Grade 3 to Grade 2 but again all depends on your budget
I hope it helps!

Inferno was bought in Kharian for 15000 Rs, and then changed with CA PLUS 12000 with a price of 18000 Rs, but my friend did manage to lower the price a bit maybe 2-3000, not sure because havent talked properly to him yet, he is still in Pak.
The prices in Kharian are about 3-4000 higher than everywhere else. The reason why i bought from him is that he gives a 1 year guarantee, if the bat breaks (handle or anywhere else on bat, even if its your own fault), you will get a new one. Many of my friends have bought from him, and have only good experience with him.

loll I don't know alot about bats
Since you have played some deliveries (I am assuming you played it with hard ball) then have a close look at the bats face and see if there are any seam marks on the face. If there are then it means that the bat would require knocking. Another thing before oiling is that feel the texture and move your hand all around the bats exposed wood as see if you feel or see the wood really dry. If it is dry then you will have to oil it. But be careful! Over oiling will ruin your bat. They always say it is better to under oil the bat rather than over oiling it.
No, you don't have to knock the middle of the bat. Just lightly knock it if you want to. Again lightly :) Yes you should knock the toe area of the bat. I believe you are confused over there. Perhaps what people have said to you was that avoid playing yorkers with a new bat. Yorkers damage the bat really badly. Toe area is quite weak area and if a yorker striks it then it might crack the wood. So by knocking the wood is compressed and gets a bit harder despite the fact willow is really soft wood. Also whenever you start knocking make you sure don't bang in the mallet. When I got my first bat I did not knew the proper procedure of knocking so I used to bang in the toe area of my Gray Nicolls bat which later made a small 'ditch' in the toe area. So avoid banging the mallet to the bat and inital stages
I hope it helps!

I did see the pictures earlier and I saw them again. I didn't notice the seam marks earlier but now I had a close look and I saw them. Anyways, does it have plastic scuff sheet on the face of the bat? In the pictures it seems that it has but I am not 100% sure.
No worries! Also remember whenever you oil NEVER oil near the splice area (handle area)
Don't hesitate going over that booklet as it has got quite valuable information in it
As far pictures are concerned the bat looks great! I think you might not have to oil the bat again but thats my view after looking at the pictures. You can confirm this once you feel the wood. Because after oiling the bat the wood does get a bit darker. One thing I am concerned about is that wood at splice area (under the front sticker). It seems quite dark. I believe it is the wood colour which is dark and I hope it wasn't oiled in that area. If it is wood colour then it is heartwood which is very good, as the name says. From the pictures I realize that you will have to round of the edges for sure. Apart from the wood colour concern the bat is 100% original CA 12000 Plus bat.
Also does your bat has a toe guard? Did you see how cool it is? I mean the way it say 'CA 12000 Plus' on it looks pretty amazing.
Once again congratulations and good luck!

Ohh okayy do talk to him and also confirm with him whether the bat is oiled or not. Because some shop keepers oil the bat as well.
It is always better to pay a bit more and get a warranty. In Pakistan it is quite hard to buy a bat and get a warranty. I mean even if you do get the warranty it is highly likely that the person will back out once you take the defected bat to him for repair or replacement. My bats which are purchased from Pakistan have no warranty. So it is great to hear that your bat is under warranty

Yes it has a grey toe guard :) no, there isnt any plastic scuff sheet, but i will apply it later on. Yes i also noticed the dark area under the sticker, but i hope that area is not oiled. If it is, and the bat breaks, then i will just give him back and get another one.

I am yet to get 2 bats from Pakistan (AS V3 and Bubber Sher). It has been quite long since I paid for them but I don't even think they have been shipped from Pakistan yet. :(
Again I am yet to get my GM Original Limited Edition Pads and Gloves. I had to get theem shipped at my cousins place in UK. She has got them but she did not ship to me yet. :(
I had bought Gray Nicolls pads, gloves and bat. The guy at a store shop here ripped me badly and gave me 3 Star range. At that time I had no clue about cricket gear at that time so now I kinda regret. InshALLAH tomorrow a guy wants to have a look at them so I hope he buys everything. InshALLAH after selling this I will be buying Nitro 5 Star pads for nets/practice. Then I might buy a GM Icon bat.
Uncle Sam the biggest problem which I have to face and believe you don't have to face when buying anything is that I have to go thru my mates. Sometimes they don't allow me to buy anything :(

I've been really busy with revision lately but i'll be continuing the process after my exam next week. At the end of the christmas holidays I had clocked 5 hours of knocking, 2 hours per edge and 1 hour for the whole face. I just dented the face with the edge of my mallet to emulate seam marks and the dents were really deep on the face. They weren't as deep on the edges which is a good sign. I've started to oil the face and edges again because I think 3 coats is why the dents are so deep. I've got 5 coats on the face and edges and inshallah there'll only be a few more hours of knocking.
Oooh I like the sound of this CA! Was it the Mani LE or the normal LE? Price and weight?

Asalamalakium Brother,
Uhmm you oiled the face five times?!? As far my knowledge goes I know that you should oil the face no more than four coats per year. I believe no matter how many times you oil the face you will still be able to dent the face of the bat with edge of mallet just like you did. I believe it requires more knocking rather than oiling it again and again

And yeahh as far that CA 10K LE is concerned it was normal LE. That guy paid around 290 Canadian Dollars and it was 2.8lbs. I believe the only difference between Mani LE and Normal LE is that one has different stickers and has Imran Nazir's autograph on it

- CA12K Rs 13,500 (after negotiation) - was quoted 16000 initially
- CA10K Rs 9000
- AS V3 Rs 8000
- MB Bubber Sher Rs 9000
I know that some of you have purchased from UT Sports in the past - please advise if the prices seem reasonable?

Yeah I bought a Sher Amin previously but gave it to my brother, I used to use a lighter Ihsan Crown, the Sher was just a bit too heavy. The newer model is however lighter and much thicker, which sounds wrong but somehow is right :afridi And I don't know what it is with CA's, but their middle is always amazing, regardless of the bat model.
I'll post up pics of the whole bat collection soon, I have about 7 now (mine and brothers) :jm

The highest price that I found for Bubber Sher was Rs.12000 and that too at Lords Sports in Karachi.
I was able to get Bubber Sher for Rs 8500 as I bought a total of 7 bats from UT Sports.
Between 7 bats and other equipment i.e. gloves, WK pads/gloves, guards, batting pads, helmets and kit bags I paid Rs 55000.

Which pads did you order? V3? V3 gloves looks good but worst thing is that AS did not come out with new range this year (yet) and the gloves still have calf leather palm on them. Don't get me wrong here I am not saying gloves are bad! Honestly I like them as well. I haven't used or have heard anything about AS softs but they look pretty decent.
Just a question for you (i hope you don't mind) that why didnt you buy pads from your country? The reason why I am saying that is because shipping of pads is alot and it is more than the cost of pads itself. My pads are stuck in UK and shipping from UK to Canada for pads is around $80 whereas pads are worth $70 loll

Sultanator Bhai it is good that you have knocked your bat alot. I mean one of my friend was telling me that these Pakistani bats require alot of knocking. I barely knocked my Bubber Sher so the other day it was not playing good at all

Hi Guys
I am looking to purchase a cricket bat for the upcoming new cricket season. I was thinking of purchasing the 'woodworm ibat gamma' but not sure if this is a good choice.
Has anyone used this bat before or can you recommend me a decent bat I should use. I prefer the bat to be light.
You help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Jazzak Allah brother! They sure are frustrating. I've clocked 9 hours of knocking (2.5 for each edge and 4 for the whole face) and i'm still getting seam marks! But i'll keep at it :)

Heyy Mate,
Woodworms iBat range is made in Pakistan by CA. So Woodworm's iBat and CA bats will be pretty much same
As far Gamma goes I have never used it nor I have seen it but from what I know it is Grade 3 English Williow
What is your budget?
If you have any other questions please let me know
Cheers!

Woow thats alot of knocking brother. I don't know how your house mates have survived thru the 9 hours of knocking. Since your bat had few grains so it required extra knocking compare to other bats. But once you have knocked in alot watch the ball flying!!

Bubber Sher is not a bat pick as well! Again everything lies within the person. He will be choosing the bat that is best for him in terms of balance, pick up, budget and so on. It is not about stickers or brand

Hah! I do it in the kitchen :/ the door makes it virtually sound-proof!
The thing is, the ping kind of sucks. I have one of those cricket balls hanging off a piece of string, I tested the bat with it. I don't get that crunch feeling when you hit the middle and the ball doesn't exactly fly off :/ Maybe I just need to knock a bit more, but a cheap Kashmir Willow bat (not even oiled or knocked) seems to have more ping :/

Ohh okay
When I was rounding off the edges of my CA 12K it made alot of noise that my house mates had taken the mallet from me and kept it some where for quite long time loll
It will surely improve once you have knocked in alot then it will improve alot and the ball will fly like rocket

Salam CD!
I ordered coloured G-200, he said that V-3 are not available in colour. The thing is that i have ordered for myself and my team mates. I have have ordered for over 900 USD! Indoor balls, protective equipment, V-3 bat and some other stuff like protective sheet.
The reason why i dont buy pads in my country is that we dont have any cricket shops in Norway. We have to order from UK or Pakistan, and the last option is the cheapest one. Shipping is 210 USD for everything, and that includes 7 pairs of pads and 30 Indoor balls, some 5-6 pairs of gloves, thighs, guards and supporters.. so a lot of stuff you see. I am going to pay through my bank tomorrow, so i hope that they are a professional company, i mean i know that they are well-known, but it is a lot of money.. :ibutt

Walilakumasalam,
Ohh okayy G200 pads are pretty nice as well, they are lightweight and look good as well whereas they also have good protection. The reason why I asked you initially way don't you buy stuff from your country is because pads are usually heavy so there shipping cost is a bit high. But since you don't have any store then it makes sense.
Usually when you shop alot at a specific store and more importantly you are doing it first time alot of seller usually throw in free stuff as well. I am not sure if they are giving it to you but they should.
InshALLAH everything will be safe and no worries nothing will happen

I am returning next week and want to get started on this project ASAP!

I always wanted to get those CA pads (whereas I still wish to get them :) ). In summer when my mother went to Pakistan I told her to get me these pads so instead of them she got me CA 12000 Plus Batting Pads so I don't have any regret. But InshALLAH when I go Pakistan in summer then I will buy these pads and then I will have 4 pair of pads all different style :D
Those gloves are very nice and they are very light as well. I was getting a pair of gloves for my brother (Orange) so I told the guy to send me the old model (like the one you posted above) but he did not have them in stock so I am now getting new model of Ihsan Inferno 750 batting gloves.
Brother Omair post a picture of your kit once you get back here :D

Uhmm sometimes the bat has been oiled by the seller. For instance one of my friend got Sher Amin about 2 months ago whereas his bat was oiled and it just required knocking

loll UT Sports?
You said your Bubber Sher is "Limited Edition" right? No wnder there is a price difference. If you don't mind can I ask you for pictures? Since we haven't seen Bubber Sher Limited Edition picturees so it would be worth having a look at them. Also how many grains does your Bubber Sher has got? mine has around 10-11

Brother, I sincerely apologise but it wont be possibel just yet, just back from long holidays and work is like mad with outstanding stuff, need to sort out tenants for my flat plus some travel inshallah nearer the season will do.
BTW, yes, it is limited edition, and has got about similar grains if not more. The irlines no longer let you take them in the plane due to security reasons so I was a littel concerned about damage on the way but it was okay MA.
Do you know them or get any benefit? You must ask for comission from this lot :-), they were very busy I must say...........seems to be doing really well.
I had asked them to get it knocked in and oiled before picking it up so they apparently did ..........but not sure if it actually happened, it does have two marks of seam and no obvious sign of oiling, will find out soon!

I saw limited edition while I was at UT Sports...it has green and yellow stickers as opposed to black and yellow.
It was also very light compared to the regular bat and the balance just felt right.
I will post all the pictures upon my return.
