What started off with a mere question regarding a cricket bat, has turned into a huge thread about cricket bats. Nice work, boys! C-D you legend. :moyo

Coverdrive, now that you are a moderator. Can't we have a sub-forum about cricket equipment? It will be much easier than going through 2000 posts.

I have heard that Zaidi Sports sells legit stuff but its better if you go and check it out yourself (dont take my word on this).
Yes I will be buying atleast 3 bats. I will definitely consider AS V3 LE along with a custom bat G1.
I still havent got my GM. Well MB LE gloves should be here by the end of this month as my mom is coming.
Zaidi sports is on Multan road and it has very few brand name bats, no CA, Ihsan, MB, AS when I last went there. Most of their stuff is their own unbranded. There are some shops in Anarkali like Pakistan sports which probably carry larger stock and have all the brand names. I wouldn't go to Zaidi sports if one is looking for a brand name bat, pads, gloves etc.

I second that, too much useful info is getting lost in the 2000 posts. A person who is specifically interested in discussing a bat or gloves or place to buy will be lost in the 2000 posts. Too much good info is burried in this huge thread.

Best bat worth the money which isn't above Rs. 10000 has to be the Sher Amin (MB Malik) or the AS V3 or the BAS Vampire (they aren't above 10000, are they?)

I am assuming he is in Pakistan. So it will be hard to find BAS Vampire.
Also MB Malik Bubber Sher is under Rs. 10,000 as well

Yeah that's true but I still feel that 6 grains doesn't mean its fake or low quality as I have started playing with it after intensive knocking and its turning out to be a good bat. The sweet spot has a real good ping and pickup is great as well. The only thing that makes it look fake is the number of grains but so far no cracks and stuff.

We are talking about your Bubber Sher right?
If so, I don't think grains tell that but the willow being used on that is not the one which is suppose to be used.
Atlast if it feels good in your hands, goes well then I really don't think it matters

Any new bats coming out? New ranges?
Since Boom Boom (most likely) is the new sponsor of the Pakistan team, they should have bats releasing too, right? Afridi's bat looks amazing (not just the thickness of the edges, but the stickers are very stylish too). Really want one of those.

Han yar my Bubber sher, I also have CA power which I have been using for past 2 years and it just amazing. IMO CA stuff is better quality then any other Pakistani brand.

If so then mostly each brand has gotten its 'Limited Edition' range. CA has added few more in its catalog such as Dilshan, Custom etc
Trust me mate! don't go after Boom Boom. The bat(s) which Afridi is using is MB Malik's bat with just new sponsor stickers.
Your money will go in vain if you buy Boom Boom bat as I don't think there quality is amazing. Just get stickers and apply it on your Bubber Sher

Achaa theek hai
CA bats are very good! There balance and pick up is simply awesome and amazing. No doubt about that. i would say CA has best balance among Pakistani bats
Alhamdulilah it is going really good. The balance is not great which is because I have a thin handle at the moment. it pings really nicely and goes like a gun! InshALLAH I am looking forward to buy Bubber Sher Limited Edition

Oh okay. I thought MB Malik quit putting their stickers on Afridi's bats and Afridi then changed his sponsor to Boom Boom. Anyway, they haven't released or look like they're going to release anything soon at all, so it's nothing to worry about. Even if they do release a bat, I'll read some reviews before thinking of buying it, then feel it for myself, then buy it.
I don't care how good the bat looks or how thick the edges are really, it's the quality that matters, that's first priority. Looks and edge thickness come next. Fortunately, the Bubber Sher fulfilled all my criterias :D has good looks, the thickest edges I've seen in a while, and it's a lovely bat as a whole.
It's the golden rule I follow - never ever buy a bat online because you're going to end up disappointed in some way or the other. Feel it for yourself, IF YOU CAN play a few deliveries with it to see the ping, balance, etc., take your time then buy it.

Actually Afridi is brand ambassador of Boom Boom. So obviously he will promote that brand. You probably remember the final of RBS T20 where Afridi had a quick cameo innings? If you remember seeing his bat properly you would have noticed that on the edges he had covered a logo with a tape. One can easily predict it was "MB" logo
Boom Boom is UK based company and it was known as Essential previously so they changed the brand and made Afridi the brand ambassador. I had never heard of essential so I am not expecting there new bats (Boom Boom ones) to be good. But I can be wrong! For something around two months I have been hearing it will be released in a couple of week time. But that hasn't approached yet. But I personally think it will be released during T20 WC as that's when our new kit will be launched.

No, Zaidi sports is on Multan Road near choburgi. I wouldn't recommend going there especially if you want to buy a bat. From what I've heard, the better options are in Anarkali like Pakistan sports and Star sports, they should have more variety and stock with lower prices. Other places in the city will probably charge higher prices, even if they carry the brands you are looking for.

I don't know about Millat Sports but if you plan to go to anarkali, it shouldn't be difficult to find these shops. From what I've heard, most sports shops are in the streets in front of Neela gumbad (not that far inside) and anyone in anarkali will be able to guide you.

Again its ones preference. One guy might like Kashmiri willow (Cheap one) more than English willow :I. In other words, it depends how the bat feels in your hands. Its not that the most expensive bat will be the best.
Everyone has different views. So these days Newbery and Redback is over my head so I would say they are good!

lol, I kinda do both depending on the situation of the match I guess. Everybody likes slogging, but there is always a risk of getting out. Plus, when I go to slog, I sometimes mis a few and they become dot balls.

best deal for rubber spikes is a place called tornado cricket - google them. they are in ottawa. but the guy travels to toronto often (his name is Dushy). you can tell him i referred you.
His Puma shoes are all over 10-15 less then any store in toronto. Have him bring you a pair.
i think all his bats are in the 180 - 200 range. he had a sher, the inferno, and some CA Gold's. Those were all sold today. The inferno was the best by far. The 12000 is also really nice and i think it was only 2'8

Thats true. I personally like my GN the most out of my bats because it was first bat which I bought according to my will. I sometime think of investing in big brands but I have second thoughts because there top notch bat quality is not as good as smaller companies top notch bats.
For instance, GN Powerbow PP will not be better than Newbery SPS or even players in some case

did he only get bats?? i am looking to add a few pairs of gloves to my kit too

Thats true. I personally like my GN the most out of my bats because it was first bat which I bought according to my will. I sometime think of investing in big brands but I have second thoughts because there top notch bat quality is not as good as smaller companies top notch bats.
For instance, GN Powerbow PP will not be better than Newbery SPS or even players in some case
that might be true - but the predator i had technically is the best bat i've used - and that was only a 5 star. The CA Gold i just had an emotional attachment too. But the Predator was also only a Grade 2 - I figure if i had the the Carbo - or Pro Perf predator - imagine how well that would go......i think you cant classify Newbury as a small company - they are a big bat maker! Redback, Laver, Screaming Cat....these are the small ones...

best deal for rubber spikes is a place called tornado cricket - google them. they are in ottawa. but the guy travels to toronto often (his name is Dushy). you can tell him i referred you.
His Puma shoes are all over 10-15 less then any store in toronto. Have him bring you a pair.
i think all his bats are in the 180 - 200 range. he had a sher, the inferno, and some CA Gold's. Those were all sold today. The inferno was the best by far. The 12000 is also really nice and i think it was only 2'8
thanks for the referral....I will look him up.
Also, I myself got bats from UT sports and I will not question the authenticity of their bats. Can you email me at ohussain@sympatico.ca? I need to ask you something.

Compare to GN, GM etc I think its small company. Another reason why these big brand bats quality isn't that excellent could be due to the fact majority have moved to India.
Redback, Newbery, SC, Laver, Nixon, Vantage and several others all make there bats in UK and Australia

his bats are all top quality ca's. if your price range is 180-200 then it'll work.
second - my family is in karachi right now - so i can place an order from UT and get stuff if people are interested here. My friend will be picking all the bats - he plays for Karachi Gymkhana and they get all their stuff through UT as well. My friend that is selling bats got his bats handpicked from the Karachi Gymkhana player too. Basically the UT guy gave him a gurantee that all the bats would be good - if there any issues we would send the bat back. biggest issue in getting bats in pakistan is alot of stuff is fake OR lower grade stuff that is stickered up.
Even big stores are guilty of doing this - you have to be very careful that you know what you are getting. Alot of the bats I see guys bring back form Pakistan are blatant fakes.
Even these guys that are ordering directly from the factory - unless you know the factory owners personally - id be wary of it. I've seen it happen personally - for example - a cheaper quality handle will be put it - or it wont be binded all the way down the handle....you would never be able to tell until the bat breaks and you see for yourself...Asad bhai - from Uzi sports supervises all his bats before he brings them from Pakistan for this very reason.

We have seen it happen with Rizwan25 (bhai).

basically i was going to get a few bats - and sell them at cost + a little profit to cover shipping. I wanted to ask the guys here if they want me to get anything in particular
I'm going to have my friend (someone i trust) pick all the bats.
I'm not going to be getting into drop offs(ie have your friends/cousins etc drop a bat off to my place etc). Because it will just get to complicated to manage + everyone will want to do it that way. I'm in the process of setting up this as a business.

yes - basically working on financially viable shipping options from both Pak and England. I'm not doing anythign on a massive scale, hence people that i know travel back and forth quite a lot can be bring me a few peices in the beginning.
The goal will be to offer the best quality (genuine) bats at the best possible price in North America. I wont have a store - so there will be no overhead's really put into my price. I gurantee I'll be able to beat prices from any competitor in Toronto - but I'd obviously not be able to beat the price someone would get if they went to pak and picked up a bat themselves.
So for example if you get a Sher through me, you'll know exactly where it came from, who picked it and we can send it back if there are any issues.
From England i plan on bringing only the high end bats like my Newbury, and Salix. Obviously im working on a deal that will make these more cost effective for north americans to get through me, rather than ordering them directly. These bats will cater to those people who are really after those sort of peices (ie more then $250 bucks).

Yaar Rehan Bhai I feel this is the best time to sell a bat. Season is yet to begin, teams haven't started outdoor netting yet. So I personally believe this would be one of the best time to sell. Even during the season is a good time. Its just matter of time and your stuff will go for sure InshALLAH.
Another effective way to sell a bat (in my opinion) would be if we can place an ad on league websites. Because lots of people might not be aware of kijiji and craigslist.

2 questions:
1) does UT/MD have websites, i tried looking to no avail... what do they stand for (full name)... or any other contact info about them (phone/email, address, etc)...
2) how do they usually ship it... stores/etc what does the shipment of a bat look like once it gets here from Pak (i know from US etc its properly boxed and full with air-filled bags or foam to prevent damage) but in PAk i think there are certain rules they follow... can someone possibly share a pic...
and since its a good day
3) is it better to have a relative/friend ship/parcel it or the store (say my friend/relative buys it from UT and asks them to ship it)... also if its being parcelled over how will the price be shown to the customs ppl, ie. write the price outside of package or glue/post a copy of reciept outside of packaging or leave the receipt inside in case they open it, its there...

1) No, both of them don't have a website.
MD = Maindad Sports
UT = Universal Traders (I believe)
Google UT Sports and you will find there number. If you need there representative direct number let me know.
2) Scroll on previous pages (not precisely sure which page but Usman Bhai posted a picture of it). It usually come in a bouri.
3) When you ship it out you declare the value there. Unless it is coming through courier then it will say on the package (piece of paper which contains information).
I would wish you a good luck especially when getting a bat from Pakistan. They do treat them and we have seen examples in past. Courier ones which tend to be safer have been treated
If you have anymore question please don't hesitate asking me

3) If you trust store people then let them do it. Otherwise tell your relatives to do it for you.
Uhmm not too sure about cost factor. It won't be that expensive yaar. Maximum would be Rs. 1000 but thats highly unlikely.
For personal statisfaction I would say tell your relatives to do it. Atleast tasalii to ho gaaee

oh, in that case i'll prob just go for bats, as many i have spoken to say that the drill holes are very small sized, but i'll see naveed bhai's drilled bat first b4 i make a move, if the gloves they rip that would be purely fruitless, (did u ask customs to cover up ur loss on that, i was told by someone that they do compensate when they damage ur items for such security measures, not sure for how much authentic this is, but its worth a try on asking them to compensate)...
as far as which bats, honestly i am not too much into what sticker the bat has, i am more concerned about the specs that i prefer and the sweet spot area (to be middle/lowish), 8-11 straight grains, thick edges, i don't like the split coloured bats (example would be the fake GN or Ihsan 950 bats u showed from the kijiji post earlier on this page or last, where they have the wood with half bleached and half darkish/varnished type) SH, and a light pickup, and a 12pc cane handle is admirable (due to my thumb issues of past) if i can get that in a non-stickered bat i'd still be kicking in joy :) and that's why i am waiting for finding the right person to send to a store who can do that on my behalf and getting me a bat that i myself would prob pick off the shelf... its a slight risk, but i am willing to take esp given the prices we hear out here for decent bats... instead of paying 250 for 1 bat here, i am willing to get 2-3 bats of which even 1 turns out good and others avg at best i'll be happy...
now here is another question, on a shipment of 2+ bats, would they drill just one, or all... (if only one, i'd have them put a "plz don't drill this bat for the love of god" on a crapy bat... the customs will be forced to drill that one as the human nature is to go opposite of what one is being told, but doing that will prob have them drill em all, lolz :inzi )...

some dude whose bats got drilled... and neither UK nor Pakistani customs would own up to who did the drilling... and the drilling in the sweet spot is simply stupid, coz from what i understand the side drill is somewhat ok, but instead of drilling the sweet spot they should have drilled it from rear/back of the bat, that way person can fill it up with some sort of thing and the bat remains good and security check is obtained too, but drilling the front/sweet spot is uttely sad in my opinion coz if they are going to take the liberty on damaging our products/items atleast put some effort in understanding on how to do the least amount of damage to it while at it... and thats a pretty thick drill bit too... frig... they can use the thinnest one possible and if any drug in there, the bit will catch it and bring it out...
CD did Naveed bhai's drill bit's were of similar size or smaller... it seems like they were trying to rescue Ayesha Aapa from his bats :)))

I did call DHL and told them that my gloves have been ripped but whenever there inspector came I was not home. InshALLAH I will call him once my exams are over and will tell him to come and check them out. JazakALLAH Khair for reminding me :)
Yaar whether it is small or big your bat has been damaged. God forbid if you don't get your money or compensating then your money is gone down the drain. As far compensation is concerned it depends how much you declare (in terms of value). If you declare a small value just to prevent from custom charges then God Forbid if they get treated in custom then you will get that small item. If you declare properly value then if they get treated in customs the benefit is that you will get your declared value.
When Naveed Bhai got one bat shipped from Pakistan it was not drilled but when he got two both of them got drilled. Its not that it always happens or it happens with two bats. It depends on your luck. Usually some seller do that. They put a note saying, "Don't drill! Use sniffer dogs" or "Don't drill, contact seller". This is a good idea as well
Yaar as long bats are concerned I believe in Pakistan you have to be watchful. As ca_gold suggested earlier theres lots of fake bats floating in the market. If you look at ca_gold friend's bat price then they are really decent price. Even Sherry Bhai bat prices are really decent (it sucks because he got charged by customs). I paid $190 for my CA 12000 Plus in October. It came from Pakistan through my old club mate.
Again if you have any question or concern please don't hesitate asking me

It is stupid but yaar think it this way. The custom dude is a white person and knows nothing about cricket. He wouldn't care about sweetspot, edges etc. Another reason that comes in my mind why they drill sweetspot is because that is the "fattest" part of the bat. So if someone is smuggling then high chances are that it will be in that area because it can hold up highest amount of whatever it is.
I think they were similar. If not then slightly smaller.

i think a wise thing for us bat owners would be to put a note on the front of bat saying if u must drill it plz do so from the back end, as drilling it front will make the bat completely useless, some sort of that note, coz if they drill from the front or back its the same to them and they should drill half way or 3/4th way across not a full through hole...and if the customs neglects that note, than i suppose the person will have a strong case against them... what do you think...
i will try and find out about the compensation bit... also, regardless of if they are white/brown/blue/purple/whatever, if they can tell the bat is under-valued by someone and they can have the liberty to drill it to satisfy their job, they sure should educate themselves about wth are they drilling, and how to least damage it...

I am not sure. People say don't mess with them. Naveed Bhai's bat got drilled halfway from back and front.
As I said the maximum amount of whatever item it is could be stored in the middle of the bat (sweetspot)

that's what i am saying, sweetspot is the thickest part of the bat, but instead of drilling it from front, drill it from the back... that way we can fill that gaping hole with something and the bat won't be damaged in sense of its performance, it will be just an ugly mole on the back, no one likes an ugly mole on the face... :ibutt

its 12-2 and from now on the remaining indoor practices (i assume soon we will go outdoors as soon as outdoors is available - i think may 12th) also it will be 2 nets throughout as the ppl that populated the net on the left side shifted their time and let us have the nets for the full two hours instead of being jam packed and huging ea other in one net all the way to the batsman...

baalti - it depends on your luck as far as drilling is concerned.....I have had a couple of guys that received their bats from Pak recently and there were no issues.
As per CD, just have the store label it and you should be ok. Also, declare the real value of the bat to ensure you get your money back in case of any damages.

Yes, placed the order today with powerplay sports....they send their order back to Pakistan anyway....I could have gotten it from UT if I was still in Karachi.
By the time it gets made and shipped here, I will end up paying the same amount as what I paid to Power Play - ok may be $5 less uniform.

Indeed.....first pair of pads that I like outside of the moulded one's....price isn't too bad either but I wonder how much it would be with shipping, taxes etc.

Shipping for a pair of pad is quite alot. I remember when my GM's were stuck in UK I told my cousin to ship them out but she said that shipping for a pair of pads will be 80 odd pounds. So I reckon from Pakistan it will be higher.

they use good ones however unfortunately there are 2-3 red ones which are potential bat breakers/damagers... so sherry i would advise you to either request not to use the red ones (pink/white are ok) or dont use the bat in practice, unless u wana see ur new baby get hurt :afridi

About drilling, i have a friend in canada border services and he told me that bats and stuff coming from sub continent gets drilled not the ones from UK as they pass through extensive checkup before departure. Another thing he mentioned was the declared value. Pakistani and Indian suppliers declare a small amount or even gift item to save custom duties which pisses them off and they end up opening and drilling stuff. I ordered 16 bats from Pakistan 2 months ago and none of them was drilled bcuz i declared full amount.

you got them from a store via phone/email etc, or did you have a friend/cousin buy them for you and parcel them out, or someone brought them? and is there any stipulation or some sort of regulation/rule if u order that many bats, or it doesnt matter how many bats you order, i am asking in terms of "a normal person/player would say order about 1-3 max bats, but 16 bats in that would make them assume its for business purposes or something, and you might get bigger bracket of tax/duty's implied on the shipment" whats the scenario like.

I got all of my bats from Sialkot except for two. My cousin was in Sialkot so he got them for me. The amount of bats does not matter at all. If you declare correct value chances are minimal of getting drilled. In my case I told my cousin to ask his customs friend to write "Special Order, Inspected by Pakistan customs (custom office batch #), Must contact buyer before any inspection. Sure Asad before I leave I will let you know. I have seen you bat and going with a lighter bat wont affect your timing at all. If the bat is light and is made of good willow it will help you a lot as you will be on top of the ball every time. Also, it will help you play those pull shots.

Judging by the price including delivery it seems fake as CA12000 alone is roughly around $180 and GN Xiphos pro perf. is quite expensive ranging between ($300-$400). So do the math and you will see for yourself.
Western Union is just one way transfer no guarantees or anything so go with Paypal.

Uzair that's why i am here reporting of all my thoughts and actions and asking questions so I am guided/helped into buying a proper bat or bats. i am not gona blindly go and buy bats. And my sincere thanks, i was joking in the above posts first part.
the person was on ebay, however an email address on his item page reffered to "if u wana do bulk orders contact ceo@shopacricket.com" hence their website being www.shopacricket.com (i dont know if he is the owner/worker/assistant of that website/company or just an affiliate for bulk orders.
Also, I am speaking to my Uncle, and he said another uncle of mine would be visiting Sialkot in a few days (3-4) so do you guys know any good/reputable store names or factories there so i can send him there, and get some quotes etc.

ok guys, i am in touch with this guy from Pak, and i am speaking to him about, 2 bats, 1 is CA 12k Plus & GN Xiphos pro-performance at $350 canadian. both will be Grade 1 english willow, toe guard etc plus my specs, question regarding the handles i am awaiting reply, no dutys, no extra hidden fees, and he said if it gets drilled he will replace them (now i'll be paying via paypal & credit card, so if he is lying or sends fake bats i will get a refund anyways) as I got that from a seller who sent in a fake bat earlier.
he was offering both bats at $300 given i pay through western union, now my question is does western union provide same lvl of security/assurance as paypal/credit card companies do in case its fake/never arrives/damaged etc? any experts here?
and guys what do you think, is 350 a fair price for the two bats?
I am sure this has been answered already and GN will probably be fake given the price point that you have been quoted.
ALso, you will not get a refund if paying through WU. I am surprised that he is accepting Paypal as that service is not available in Pakistan.

CD - one of my team mates picked up Ihsan Inferno 950 today for $160.....this guy was also selling SS Ton and older AS cricket bats for a really good price.
I checked the authenticity and they are legit. He doesn't do it full time but will order if someone requests it.

$160 for Inferno 950 is really good because that's how much it cost in Pakistan to buy Inferno 950.
Are you sure that it was geniune? Also did you feel it how did it felt in your hands? I have heard that Inferno 950 balance is really good along it's pick up

I know.....it was around Rs 14000.....the balance was really good and when I was talking about authenticity, I was referring to SS and AS bats as they were original.
Inferno looked original but the stickers were blue? Willow was definitely grade 1 with no blemishes. Ruler straight grains too.

Was it Inferno 950 stickers? If so then it is not suppose to have blue stickers
Oh okay. How were those SS bats?
