I am speechless - did not expect this - especially on TV

What really gets me is the audacity of this person to appear on national TV.

Was shocking the first time I saw it, I believe the show was closed down for a while right after this episode. Shameful stuff.

This is purely shameful and disgusting. I'm surprised the idiot hasn't been stoned yet. People like him shouldn't be let loose to roam the streets. They should be locked up where society can be protected from them.

This guy should have been publicly violated himself before being tortured and then given the death penalty only after all that.

I dont know who this guy thinks he is or who this guys family is but this clip basically epitomises everything that is wrong with Pakistan. Absolutely shameful

I dont think this show should be closed down, it should be allowed to continue in exactly this way...people need to see the reality rather than sticking their head in the sand.

I think it is made up - the shocking part is that it was shown on TV. No responsibility shown by media. Yellow tabloid sensational stuff - the channel probably watched by young people mostly as it is I think equivalent to MTV.

If it was real there would have been news of arrests after the show.

Basically this man admits to gang raping an innocent girl and then goes on to boast about it. He says that his family is so powerful that "even the army can't touch them". The presenter then gets fired up and starts beating the hell outta that guy (which in my opinion is only a tiny fraction of what should be done to the animal)
I do also think that it could be staged......

If the producer did think that, he wouldnt have aired the episode and given the animal the attention he wanted

^a guy confesses (or proudly announces) on tv that he has raped a girl (or slut according to him) with his friend. he think this is some kind of a 'dare'.

staged/fake, but this kind of mentality is normal in most parts especially rural areas of pakistan. notice how he mentions his background, this mentality has been given in 'wirasat' to the confused youth of Pakistan, from their wadera/choudary/elite fathers and grandfathers.

Not much different in India either, particularly in small towns.

Edit... Just saw the clipping. Looks a bit like MTV Roadies which does promote some thrash in the name of being yourself. The Producer is trying to copy Raghu, the other shows producer

What shocks me is not the crime itself ( its a crime and these things happen around the world) - I am totally blown away by:

1. how its discussed on tv - what kind of sick society will discuss something so serious in such a trivial manner?

2. the audacity of the individuals involved

Staged/Real who cares - the sickness of our so called Muslim societies is more sickening to watch.

Has, there are some thing which really were due to him and you gotta admit it. Musharraf can and should be credited with giving the media more freedom BUT it also must be said that it was he who introduced this 'modern enlightenment' on TV to try and make it more relaxed....more Western.

You're right maybe blaming him directly isnt the way to go, he didnt go and say make these programmes BUT it was this policy which Mush introduced which acted as the catalyst for some seriously rubbish, dirty TV....in Pakistan.

Ok even if that last part is taken as the truth, then clearly there were some people in Pakistan who were waiting for such an opportunity and who feel that there is a market for such things in the country. Its not mush who forced them to make such a programme...

Every country has garbage tv...if there are some people who like this garbage stuff then let them watch it. There are many other programmes on too, thats the beauty of it everyone is catered for...thats what opening up the media means.

Shocking and embarassing, I wish people stone him to death. What a proud and ugly face.

I was in Pakistan last year and I'm not surprised to see this type of attitude shown by younger generation of Pakistan on TV. Younger generation has to get their act together or I'm afraid we will sink more further and might not cope back fully for centuries to come.

They are only aware of few things: Boyfriend, Girlfriend, Sex and how to woo a girl/guy on a wrong number and sending shameless text messages back and forth.

Last but not least, they have also plunged themselves into a habbit of turning night into a day and day into night.

I'm not against of having an active life at night but there is a limit to everything. Younger generation in Canada, USA, France, Germany, UK etc. are compelled to study and work at the same time. That's how they gain experience and serve their respective country. If younger generation in Pakistan will keep presisting with night life habbit 365 days a year, what do you expect? Who is going to work? Who will shape Pakistan into a quality country?

Especially rich kids I don't want to mention them.

I totally agree. And then they think its funny to accuse the western kids/kids that don't live in Pakistan of promiscuity and what not, when in actual fact the ones in Pakistan are 10 times worse. We spend most of our lives in education and actually trying to make something of ourselves, rather than relying on daddy's illegal cash storage and influence. SO GOD DAMN ANNOYING!!! how is this allowed on tv?

1 of 2 things has got to be true.

1.) hes lying (most likely for tv purposes), even if he is, why is this aired.. does it have a viewership base?

2.) he did it. is he in jail/in the process now or what/

modern enlightment is a by product of free media and free speech.

that was musharrafs mistake he gave the media way to much freedom with no check and thats when you get losers trying to seek attention like waqar and dogs barking against their own country like hamid mir and shahid massod.
he relized this and the CoC was issued which later ghadari took down, but it should have been implementated in the first place.

What is "modern enlightment" anyway. People mention it but don't explain it. Is it no sectarian violence, education of men and women, no compulsary beards etc? This is one confusing term and does get abused. Maybe it is to get back to what Pakistan was 30 years ago

No way thats REAL.

If its staged then I have mixed views:

1) On one hand Waqar is showing us how disgusting these COMMON

(and they are common amongst lads there: "That slut has BF - She was therefore asking for it..., She wore sleeveless/provocative stuff therefore she deserved it..." You cant touch my family have big LINKS)

actually are - This is a good thing and his anger displays how we should feel when in the prescence of such revolting attitudes to womens consent/role/view

2) On the other hand is this Trivialisation of Rape for ratings and thus in bad taste?

Bless the people who are attributing any abhorrance of the clip (which should be directed to the host/producer) as a result of Musharrafs Media Policy (Which brought you channels other than PTV!)

This whole thing is shocking !!

Regardless of it being real or fake, its shocking that Pakistani tv channels can broadcast something as vulgar and sickening as this ?! Even reality TV programs in more liberal western countries do not go to this extent! someone actually bragging about the fact that he's raped a a girl and talking so freely about it !!

Are these no broadcasting/censorship rules in Pakistan at all? other than the ones that come into effect to silence political program anchors like Dr Shahid Masood, Hamid Mir, Kashif Abbasi and co.

This is shameful for ARY, who run this Musik channel.

Not meaning to post this for the amusement of others, but just to show the level of vulgarity that our Tv channels are now getting to.

I couldn't help but being curious what other garbage is being broadcast in this program, we have another clip here where this same presenter is asking a young girl some shocking questions about her 'physical' relationships with her boyfriends..

How the hell has this program been allowed to be broadcast in a so-called "Islamic republic" of Pakistan ?? I'm speechless!

This is why there needs to be a regulatory body for broadcast media which can set some rules and decide what is 'healthy' and what is 'unhealthy' for society when it comes to entertainment... making sure the programming does not cross such limits which are deemed socially, culturally, ethically and of course Islamically unacceptable in Pakistan.

From the TV channels viewpoint, they will always have their own vested interests first.. getting as many viewers as possible, best ratings and therefore more advertising. But you wonder if they have no one to censor their programming, what will come next.... let's hope not.

12thMan
19th October 2009, 15:58
This is not a movie that censor board first approves. There is a guideline (probably) and media is responsible to see what they can or cannot show even if it didn't violate some clause. There should have been a huge fine by federal authority and next step would be cancel the show. The channel itself should have cancelled the show as someone posted another show description so a repeat offender. Isn't this also the host who has a dare program (someone posted before and looked familiar) and someone picked up burning coals. Jihalat by thoes who think they are responsible
