Why do people say jab when the better word would be tab.

jub hee ja kar hum aap kee baat manaingay...

Would the above not sound better as following

....Tab he jaa kar hum

I have read famous poets using jab as both. Is there a reason for this?

I know there are differences within Urdu but does anyone know the reason behind the use of jab as when and then? Was the word tab developed later?

Urdu poets are moody people. They can do whatever they want. :)
But seriously, I am not into poetry so -- can't comment.

Don't know but in spoken Urdu, Jab is used more in term of "when". Please give me an example when Jab is used for "Then" in commonly in spoken Urdu?

"well respected" ----- as oppose to what?

Didn't know some languages are not "respected"?

slang

Words are normally slang but haven't heard of a slang language. Urdu does have its fair share slaNgs also. I can't think of any right now. All you have to do is, spend a day in some areas of Karachi.
