Great article on Cricinfo!!

One line almost made me fall off my chair, check it out!
India's stellar batsmen have always overshadowed the bowlers. This truth applies not only to successes but to failures as well. If India's batsmen are generous with their wickets in a final, the bowlers become experts at the art of pie-throwing. The memory of Ricky Ponting being fed juicy steaks on the leg stump at the World Cup final was not a solitary occurrence. India have conceded over 300 thrice, 290 and above thrice and over 260 twice, in their last 15 finals. With the exception of Harbhajan Singh, all the others, the fast bowlers in particular, have appalling records in finals. Ajit Agarkar has a bowling average that dwarfs Bradman's batting average. Nehra, Zaheer, Agarkar and Pathan concede more than 5.50 runs an over.

Not really! It'd be 2 final wins out of 16! India got a long way to go before they can start throwing pies at us.

India's performance in not only ODI finals but in ODIs in general has been ordinary to say the least under Ganguly(though the test record and specially away test record has glossed over it to a big extent). India has not been a formidable ODI unit since Azhar's captaincy in the late 90s when Ganguly, Tendulkar, Azhar, and Jadeja formed a very good batting unit with Dravid and Robin Singh chipping in.
To India's credit though, they have managed to do well in big championships reaching the ICC trophy finals in 2000 and 2002 and WC in 2003.

The absence of a quality all rounder in LOIs has perhaps been the biggest problem for India. Nevertheless with the talent they have in batting, they certainly have been an under-performing team in LOIs.

That sure interests me too.. If we do all ODI tournament final analysis of teams ever since ODI cricket originated since 72-73 I believe, I am sure Pakistan would be right up there with Australia with most ODI tournament wins. India wins maybe 1 out of 50 tournaments it ever played in.
Lately Pakistan's final record may not be that excellent but it still is better than India.

man all said and done , we have to feel for the indians , they have to support this team and the indians do a pretty fine job supporting it, all be it in exaggeration, day in day out. and then to see this team, brand chokers shatter their hopes of being number 2, and thus providing a choke slam to a billion expectations almost beyond fail. my heart bleeds really :)

Talking of burning..during the last India v Pakistan ODI series, Afridi was rampant and Shastri comments 'Afridi on Fire!'....Amir Sohail followed that up by......'very soon...(followed by a pause)..the whole stadium will be on fire' :)))
