Post of the Week - AJ

AJ makes some great points in his post on :

Pak Vs Eng : Strategies for English batsman (http://www.pakpassion.net/ppforum/showthread.php?p=229272#post229272)

english batsmen stratergies

Trescothic (key man) - is subsecptible to two main forms of dismissal early on. 1) is a fast straight inswinging ball, his lack of footwork early on means he is a candidate to lbw/clean bowled. Also tresco likes to play the slash shot thru gulley area early on.

strauss - like tresco or most left handers he can be knocked over by swinging ball back into pads. also strauss has struggled against spinners when hes bowled a quite wide of off-stick. strauss seems unsure at times of reading the turn and uses the sweep as a cop out shot.

vaughan - if fit i think umar gul can make this guy his bunny. vaughans strength is his cover driving but hes also supsecptible to the swinging ball on off-stump or just outside. vaughan time and time agen has been clean bowled or lbw due to misreading of the line of the ball.

bell - looks clueless against spin full stop.

pieterson (almost a typical asian player) - very strong player on anything middle and leg stump and loves to be expansive outside off stick. I think pakistan spinners will have to concentrate their lines "on the stumps" as anything outside off-stick spinning away pieterson will look to slog sweep over off-side. pieterson also at times can be supsectible to hook shot.

Flintoff - is getting better and better however, hes struggled time and time agen v top quality spin on turning tracks. pakistan spinners need to focus on bowling off stick line and not be scared to give ball air. flintoff can be knocked over by spin.

g jones - very strong player sqaure of the wicket. so short ball and back of length would be cannon fodder to him. full deliverys in and around off-stick can cause jones problems.

Quote of the Week - OTW

OTWs splendid observation about Haydens inning in Australias first innings at the Oval in the thread:

Adapting and forgetting the ego (http://www.pakpassion.net/ppforum/showthread.php?p=230639#post230639)

Given Australia's eventual collapse, I'm reconsidering my initial thoughts on Hayden's selfishness. Yes, he batted slowly and carefully - but look at what happened to those that didn't. Ball was moving around a fair bit today, it's not a flat track any more - and given the position of the match now, Hayden's knock looks even more valuable now; regardless of the pace.

Well done to both !

OTW is like the new Fairplay. Its becoming increasingly rare to see the POTW or POTW without his name in it. Congrats to both him and AJ
