Was in Sydney today. Decided to get some takeaway from Bundu Khan, but was denied service as the restaurant was playing host to the Pakistan team.

I wish I had done better, but for my troubles, I was able to get autographs from Shoaib Malik, one of the Akmal brothers (Kamran I think?) and Waqar Younis.

Also had some luck at a second hand book shop where I picked up for a pittance a West Indian cricket book with autographs of Michael Holding and Colin Croft.

Links to photos and scans of the autographs ....

I didn't get a chance to chat with them. They were all going inside to eat. Malik and Akmal were outside chatting in Punjabi, so I approached them. Waqar came outside for a minute so I took the chance to ask him for his autograph etc. I was hoping to catch some of the others after they finished with their dinner, but I thought it would be rude to loiter around the restaurant, so I went away for an hour and when I got back I missed them by 5 minutes :(

Pak team with a strict diet of nihari and parathas a day or so before a match. Expect more brilliance in the field.

I can tell you my wife was not impressed by their diet. We live 3+ hours away from Sydney, so getting some takeaway from Bundu Khan is kinda like a treat. She knows nothing about cricket and wasn't too pleased that these strangers prevented her from getting any food. Still, she was a good sport about taking the photos for me :)

We've just had one open in London (maybe a different chain) and top notch food so I don't blame your wife for being upset!

The food is nowhere near as nice as we used to get at Bundu Khan in Karachi, but hey it's better than nothing.

@Shane - quite simply, I would have liked to have gotten a few more autographs for my collection. I don't have too many of the team in my collection.

@Age-Speculators - 41 - too many grey hairs in the beard and a silly fascination with collecting stuff!

@Inswinger/Lethal - ta for the compliments. The site is a labour of love for me, that's for sure.

@rhussain33 - usual fair - tandoori, pakistani/indian food. I remember seeing pics of your encounter earlier. Very nice :)

By the time I got there, most of the players were seated. Malik is probably 5'9" - 5'10". I reckon Akmal is 5'5". Butt probably is around 5'7"
Don't know how tall Afridi actually is, but much like Waqar, he has a presence about him - very charismatic. I'm disappointed I didn't get a chance to talk to him.

Absolutely ... and there is a presence about him which commands respect. I felt the same when I saw Afridi, whereas most of the others I saw were just lads you would be comfortable treating as your peers ... if you know what I mean.

As stated earlier, the food is nothing like the Bundu Khan in Karachi, but I guess if it's good enough for the players, it's good enough for me :)

Malik was really nice. Of the 3 guys I interacted with, he seemed the most genuine to me. Sort of fella I'd have no trouble being good mates with.
