London, Jan. 9 : Pakistani power-hitter Shahid Afridi has been voted the No. 1 import to Australia for the KFC Twenty20 Big Bash series, according to a poll conducted by Fox Sports.

The all-rounder imported by South Australia has left behind West Indian heavyweights Dwayne Bravo and Chris Gayle.

Afridi polled 671 votes, almost 40 per cent of the responses, while Bravo netted 473 votes.

With all sides now through three of their five scheduled matches, South Australia are in the box seat to claim a home final and direct passage through to the lucrative Champions League tournament, Fox Sports reports.

Afridi, who has played 26 Tests for his country, has made 43 runs at an average of 14.33 in the middle order.

His strike rate of 153.57 is a shade better than he came into the tournament with across 53 T20 matches.

But it has been with the ball that Afridi has done his best work. At an economy rate of 6.25 runs per over, the quick leg-spin bowler has taken five wickets so far.

Bravo''s bowling has been more expensive; he''s going for 11.11 runs per over and has two fewer wickets than Afridi.

Windies skipper Gayle''s devastating form in the three-Test series against Australia has carried over to the condensed version of the sport. (ANI)

He's always been a crowd favorite, just like Akhtar was when he toured.

2 MoM performances, guided the Redbacks into the Champions League next edition alongside Pollard, so he had to be one of the top Imports. No surprises there.

Afridi is certainly a big crowd puller. He knows how to keep people on their feet. As of late his form is good, which is great for Pakistani cricket. I hope he will get the Pakistan's captaincy soon, as he is a clear leader in the captaincy race.

He is well respected everywhere, but Pakistan have undermine him so far. I really hope he gets the captaincy. Given the pcb's decision making there is always element of surprise.

When YK quit the team before the NZ series, I think PCB should have announced at that time to name Afridi captain of the ODI and T20 team. They should not have made Moyo as the ODI captain. The fact, that Afridi was the VC, naturally it should have been him leading Pakistan during the Australia tour.

Captaincy has never been the issue. Problem is selfish players. Get rid of every oldies and try out fresh legs and then give him time for at least two years.

I think the series in Australia would've been alot more closer if Afridi was captain.
1. He would've captain the team with alot of passion (moyo lacks)
2. He is aggressive captain would've taken it Aussies (moyo is deffensive)
3. He would've inspired the other players and encouraged them when the chips were down (moyo critisises them)
AND SO ON AND SO ON................................

You gotta be kidding me that captaincy has not been an issue. The amount of singles our Captain Marvelous has gifted to the Aussies during the tour has been appalling. Well all I can say that if you think Captaincy has not been the issue, I'm seriously speechless.

So, what a young fielder can do if he is placed on the boundary as soon as the powerplay finishes. Can he be so energetic that he will run at the speed of knots and cut off any singles?

YK, MoYo include Malik too he's never been in touch in recent time. Kamran Akmal we all know let us down in crucial times. Salman Butt OK Fielder not as good as few like Nazir, Afridi.

I was impressed by our U19 team the way they were energetic in the fielding and from their body language they were keen to win every single match.

I think Azim Gumnam should be in the team and should be made vice captain in a year time so he could succeed as captain. I've been reall impressed with his captaincy in the under 19.
