does anybody know the squads expected for this game (particularly with respect to Pakistan A)?
Has there been any info/ threads posted on this?
Pakistan A gets two matches against England prior to this match so they should be prepared.
Looks VERY intriguing if you ask me..

Two rubbish sides, maybe even both with ******** selections, playing against each other.
I hope they don't put highlights of this up, else it could end up worse than Bangladesh vs Zimbabwe (no offence to those two countries).
I'd be funny if one side makes 120 in 50 overs, and the other chokingly crosses the line. However, one thing will be clear: If Pak lose, M.Hafeez is a better captain than whoever is captain for Pak on that day.

:)))
wow
this post has got a lot of anger in it.
It is just a sport ....
.... until you start representing your country and start actively defaming it and coming with retarded excuses like:
'They had no McGrath or Warne. It would have been easier if we played them. We lost to the best Aussie side in history. 9-0 is the best we could have hoped for.'
And then follow that by repeating the same mistakes again and again. M. Hafeez is the captain of the 'A' side. Either we that poor (in which case what is being done about it?) or the people running this pathetic attempt of a board don't give a **** about the country (also in which case, what are we doing about it?).
They selected an 'A' side that won in Sri Lanka, with promising players. Then they go backwards and commit the same mistakes in selecting the A squad that they did in selecting the squads that got hammered by Australia. Imagine the excuses if the Pak side loses to the A side:
'M. Hafeez is always known to have had a great cricketing brain. He had 7 players on the boundary, and in an attempt to score the last 20 runs, chasing 120, with 15 overs left at a RRR of 1.33rpo, we went for the sixes and collapsed.'
Then Hafeez gets a recall and PPers with amnesia harp on about how they knew he was a superb player. Then we get whitewashed again in the summer, and the next captain of the A side gets a go ... Shahid Nazir.

Early on in his career Asad Shafiq kept wickets, so it is not a mistake. The mistake was to send Naeem Anjum as the specialist keeper. Anjum looked downright awful when I saw him keep during the RBS t2o last year. He makes Kamran Akmal look like Rashid Latif

Well, Yasir Arafat is justifying his inclusion in 20/20 with his good bowling. He may not be an attack bowler in Power Play, but after Power play is over, he is a good economical bowler then. He is also good in last overs too with beautiful reverse swing and beautiful yorkers.
Love to see an aggressive Batsman like Asad Shafiq. I dont think he is such good wicket keeper though. But he could make to the team solely on his aggressive batting ability and could replace Khalid Latif and Imran Farhat or even Imran Nazir (ony if Imran Nazir keep on playing so crap).

Agreed batting is a complete mess!
Where is the T20 team that Afridi led in his first match as captain why dont we play that team. Khalid Latif needs to go seriously.
Nazir
Farhat
Afridi
Alam
U Akmal
Malik
K Akmal
Razzaq
Gul
Aamir
Ajmal
Rana as we also saw is useless with the bat.

^ the only difference between the team that played today and your team is Kamran Akmal ... with that lineup I just can't see us winning the World Cup. Too many hit and miss players.

This was a practice match and different things were tried. Some of you love to get overly dramatic.

Yes as a bowling unit ... it was a pretty new side. I am not looking at the result, because with Aamer, Gul, Asif we probably could have won. But the thing to take out of this game is that our batting is still not world class. Yes we all knew that, but I think its about time we lose this top 3. We were in essense 3/0 at the start of the game.

Pakistan A 145 for 3 (Shafiq 48, Hafeez 41, Riaz 2-27) beat Pakistan 143 for 8 (Razzaq 39*, Malik 32, Hafeez 2-21) by seven wickets
After a disastrous Australian tour, Pakistan's confidence will not have been helped as they were overcome by an inexperienced Pakistan A in their warm-up game ahead of the Twenty20 series against England. Abdul Razzaq's rollicking unbeaten 39 boosted Pakistan to 143 for 8 after they were put in to bat, but well-paced innings from Mohammad Hafeez and Asad Shafiq set up a seven-wicket victory, achieved with three balls to spare.
Hafeez, who is captaining Pakistan A, was named Man of the Match for his efforts in this game, which included two wickets for only 21 runs in four overs of tight offspin and a vital 41 in Pakistan A's chase. Hafeez, who has not played international cricket for more than two years, brought himself on early in Pakistan's innings and was soon rewarded with Imran Farhat's wicket.
Imran Nazir fell soon after for a pedestrian three runs from 10 balls, and though Khalid Latif and Umar Akmal consolidated with a 33-run partnership, Pakistan struggled to score quickly in the first half of the innings. Latif and Akmal fell in quick succession, and Fawad Alam and Shahid Afridi struggled to get going in their short innings.
Shoaib Malik provided some impetus with a rapid 32 before he was run out by substitute fielder Abid Ali as Pakistan slipped to 109 for 7 in the 18th over. Razzaq then showed his extensive experience at the end of the innings with a typically aggressive knock, smashing two fours and three sixes to add 34 for the eighth wicket with Yasir Arafat, who was out off the last ball after contributing just three runs to the partnership.
Pakistan A lost Shahzaib Hasan early in their chase, but Hafeez and Shafiq steadied the innings with a 67-run partnership - the highest of the match. Hafeez struck five fours and a six before he was bowled by Arafat, who was impressively economical in his four overs, conceding only 17 runs to go with his wicket.
Shafiq was in sight of a maiden twenty20 half-century, having muscled his way to 48 with six fours and a six, but edged Wahab Riaz to Sarfraz Ahmed with 23 still needed in under three overs. Umair Khan and Naeem Anjum, who both made their twenty20 debuts against England Lions last week, were up to the task, however, hitting three fours and a six between them to seal the win in the final over.

Good bowling by Abdul Razzaq too. 2 overs and 7 runs is an exceptional performance. In fact the most economical.

I hope the selectors don't pick Hafeez after this performance as everybody knows that he's a tried and tested failure. IMo they should pick Asad Shafiq over Sarfraz as his List A and first class averages suggest that he's a much better batsman than Sarfraz, at least he wont try to sweep the fast bowlers :P

I agree, Asad Shafiq looks a decent batsman, but how is his keeping? It can't be worse than Akmal's?

Wow! Thats just embarrasing. Probably one of the worst 'A' side to be picked and they beat the seniors. Pathetic stuff.
Anyways, its a pratice game after all. Talha seems a no no in T20 and Lala didnt even bowl so I'm sure we'd do better come Friday, Insh'Allah.

The worst thing about this defeat is Mohammad Hafeez's match winning performance. The guy has been useless against Eng Lions but has turned it on against the seniors. I fear the man with an ODI average of 18 might have earned himself another run in the senior team beacuse of his aaal rounder performance.
That would be a tragedy for Pakistan cricket. But we shouldn't read too much into this performance. Afridi, Aamer and Gul did not bowl. Razzaq only got 2 overs. Also, we're missing Koomran Akhmal, who is a decent T20 bat. But I would like to see Asad Shafiq in the senior team, he has done really well with Karachi Blues this year and deserves his oppertunity.
