Before you go spending money, first double-check that the problem is not with your Broadband ISP.
Most ISP's cannot/do not, provide the download/upload speeds they advertise, due to many different factors, including the quality of street cabling coming into the house from the exchange, the distance to the exchange,.....etc.
Furthermore, the ISP's also 'slow' down the speeds at peaktimes, depending upon loads on their system/ in the local exchange..etc.
So check all this out first, perhap by borrowing somebody else's router, before splashing out money and finding that nothing has changed!

If the Router you mention is a Cable Router, then it should work.
however, your maximum speed for your laptop, desktop etc. will depend upon the network cards that they have.
just because you have a faster Router will not give you a faster speed unless
1. Your Isp is proving the higher speed
and
2. Your Network cards are also of the higher speed.
