If you ask any Imam or Scholar they will tell you that from Islam you shouldnt be going near these places of alcohol...
Its very difficult for us peeps brought up in the west to apply these strict regulations
Your not buying or drinking alcohol bro, thats a good thing...
I used to love going rileys to play snooker on the 12foot , and the pub is their reception desk, and people used to drink there, we used to buy our pepsis and play snooker and do out thing..
Quite a few bearded brothers used to come as well, heck one even used to get a side room in the pub to read namaz in haha

I don't think there is anything wrong with going. You're intentions seem clean and thats what counts.

I personally would not go to a pub - my local Pak community would crucify me (or anybody) seen leaving a pub (even though they might sell sharaab for a living!!!)
And Pak paindoos spreading gossip is something you can never win against in my experience

How about all these newsagents selling newspapers, mens magazines or even soft-porn magazines, owned by Pakistani's who consider themselves to be very religious.
What is even worse, is to see a young son, or even young daughter, standing behind the counter, after school, taking money from a customer who's buying a soft-porn mag. And even having to closely scrutinise the indecent cover or back page, to find the sticker with the price on it.

The pub has the pool tables and other games for their customers.
Isn't it kind of cheating to use a pepsi as cover for playing pool for free?
I mean if we are talking about doing things all good, why not go to a place where its meant for playing pool. Pay and play.

Nope. I read about this, its actually a great idea but only viable in Muslim heavy areas. Its just like a bar without the alcohol. The main attraction is the lounge
They have pool tables, show footy matches, cricket and so on. Everything a sports bar does but serve alcohol and non-halal meat. A fantastic idea and keeps the Muslim youth from getting influenced in terms of bad things such as drugs and alcohol. I rather them be inside playing pool in a place that is Islamic (however little it is)...than be on the streets and getting involved in gangs.
Oxy any word on how they doing? Still in business?

Back to the topic as Luton Bad Boy said in the other thread, in my opinion its all about intentions. Personally, I wouldn't have any qualms about that.

Am I right in thinking, that we will be judged on all of our actions on the basis of intentions???
How we interpretate intentions is again another can of worms?

The road to hell is full of good intentions. Not only should your goals be legitimate, your methods to achieve those goals should also be legitimate.
The Robin Hood approach doesn't quite work in Islam.

Yeah, I believe that too, in other words, if you intend something good, yet use underhand tactics, then what is the point?
However, these scenarios such as:
- Pubs/Islam
- Paying for someone alcohic drinks
I think Islam is clear-cut in what is to be done in this scenario? Can I add another one to this.....
- What about buying a house with a mortgage and paying interest for 30 years???
A lifetime of sin is what our parents had to endure to put a roof over our heads but, what little choice did they have?
