I have just spoken to Yawar Saeed.
Umar hurt his back as he played a shot in practice today. He felt a sudden jerk to his back and was taken to hospital immediately for a scan
Yawar has spoken to colleagues who took Umar to the hospital and the scan has revealed no damage.
Yawar stated that with the scans revealing no damage, he hopes that Umar will be ok to play.

For God sake he played one good inning in this T20 cup, and he has become Inzi? He is a one match wonder in T20, he has done his job. His absence will not affect our performance. Beside, it's Afridi time! Go Pakistan:)

Well, both Akmals and Razzaq combined scored 18 in the last Aussie game in St Lucia, and we still reached nearly 160.

From a scoring perspective, Umar isn't a big loss. I just don't want the team to mentally experience a letdown before the big match.
Just heard on Geo that he is 50/50. Shoaib Akhtar said he should take some painkillers and play for the country as Shoaib, wasim, moin etc have done in the past.

Is the injury caused by those acrobatic catches?

Why Hammad Azam? I would rather have Fawad in there cause Hammad should not have his debut against the Aussies in the semi final.
Hopefully Umar Akmal will be fine. I wouldn't promote the use of an injection for his back pain because it has repercussions later on in life for the athlete. It should be up to him and if he feels that he does not want to take the injection then his decision should be accepted.
Tough break for Pakistan.

give that back a good massage and tell the man to sit his **** in a jacuzzi for a couple of hours and stretch a tiny bit and he'll be fine.
i doubt a professional athlete would let a back tweak leave him out of a semi-final, with well over 12 hours to go to get it worked out.
i'd say the scan was moreso as a precaution.
my guess is umar will play inshallah.

Look at his age and the injuries he's having. SHould be more fit. Such brittle bones, should drink a glass of milk like dhoni. Need calcium to make his bones strong

Just like Sachin is scared that if he plays International T20 and fails then he will no longer be the God of cricket.
I gotta agree with you. :19:
He should play if he has to come on a hospital bed ! Some people just dont know the meaning of the word sacrifice! ASk Imran Khan and his pain killer injections during the World Cup

I guess it depends upon the importance of the event and occasion as well, ODI World cup still is the ultimate crown of Cricket world and its worth taking the risks .
While T 20 cricket is entertaining and important but still it one of those things which has a limited stature and worth in world cricket.
Playing with an injury ,he will be putting himself at the risk of a long term recovery ,which can put him out of the cricket for couple of months and in worse case may be half a year or more.
And considering he is just starting his career I wont like to risk this kids future just for the sake of 20-20 entertainment package championship.
May be it would be better in national interest also as he is a asset and need to be cared .
