We would have won a lot easier with a specialist wickie and Younis isnt that good an ODI bat to justify his inclusion! I've never liked the idea of Younis in ODI's and certainly not at the cost of a specialist wickie.

The team should be...

Salman
Hameed
Malik
Inzi
Youhana
Akmal
Razzaq
Afridi
Rana
Rao
Khalil

...i think as long as we get Lara cheaply the windies shouldnt be a big problem for us iAllah

The problem with lara is that once he gets going, he is almost invincible, regardless of pitch, bowlers captaincy and all

very difficult to get him when hes on a song

Khalil should be in.bcz Windies have 4left handed batsmen.

Haven't we qualified for the finals?

Officer Barbrady
30th January 2005, 12:34
No Mona, we have to beat WI to qualify.
I agree just the one change Akmal for YK.

Pathan007

Schiller
30th January 2005, 12:35
so marooned, if wi beats us without bonus, we still do make it???

catwoman
30th January 2005, 12:35
The only change should be replacing Younis with Akmal. Can't experiment too much for this crucial game!

Mercenary
30th January 2005, 12:35
u still want a part-time keeper after it almost cost us the game????

Are you mad?

Can someone tell Yasir Hameed that every ball cannot be driven and every shot CANNOT be played on the front foot. The guy was getting hit by McGrath everywhere but was still bent upon going for everything at the front foot which could be a good attacking technique for a while but sometimes at pitches like Perth you are better off at either staying at the back foot. The sooner yasir learns of it the better it is for Pakistan.

Amjid Javed
30th January 2005, 12:38
pakistan have 13 points and west indies 9

winner goes thru plain and simple... BP dont matter!

Officer Barbrady
30th January 2005, 12:38
No we must win the game in order to qualify irrespective of the bonus point.

Daoud
30th January 2005, 13:23
Yeah, just Akmal in ahead of YK. Khalil wasnt brilliant, but he did well against the lefties, so he should be in too. Yasir and Salman need to get into the crease. Its all good and well batting a foot outside the crease in the subcontinent, but at Perth, it just wont work

30th January 2005, 13:28
I think that would leave you a batsman short! This is too complicated for me!

Hash
30th January 2005, 13:29
yes agree. One change: Kamran Akmal for Younis Khan (wont call him useless...sometimes I get the impression that people here actually want him to fail)

Bat Kamran at six.

30th January 2005, 13:34
If I were to drop one batsman it would be Yasir Hameed and bat Inzi at the top because he is the best player.

Hash
30th January 2005, 13:37
no, Inzi and Youhana have to be at 4 and 5. The most experienced heads holding the middle order.

30th January 2005, 13:40
Best batsmen should bat as long as possible. Malik can bat lower, Razzaq has over 150 games too and Younis has been around.

Amjid Javed
30th January 2005, 13:45
Drop Yk!

30th January 2005, 13:47
here we go again................!

vous avez ton avis, j'ai mon.

translated..

that means, "you have your opinion, i have mine"

:oD

30th January 2005, 15:05
sadly this decision looks like it has already been made. i would also have taufiq for yasir.

tahaqureshi
30th January 2005, 15:13
u know taufiq can wicketkeep...and he actually a natural wicketkeeper...

although i heard somewhere that he prefers not to

Amjid Javed
30th January 2005, 15:14
taufeeq is part time keeper aswell...! lets not get silly now!

30th January 2005, 15:14
I do and I would have him as a backup keeper. However Akmal is a brilliant keeper who can bat and Taufiq is the best opener in Pakistan. Therefore both should play. Taufiq can also bowl off spin.

tahaqureshi
30th January 2005, 15:16
yes..i heard about taufeeq's all round ability..

and i've just realised wat a safety net taufeeq has built for himself..

he has taken up all four aspects of the game, fielding, batting, bowling and keeping..

therefore he has raised his value for any team he plays

30th January 2005, 15:19
Yes but he should be an automatic choice as he is the best opening batsman in Pakistan.

pakistani pride
30th January 2005, 15:42
For pets sake gary its ODI CRICKET ! Check taufeeqs record before calling him the best opening bat !

Akmal in !!
Shoab malik back to 3 .............

30th January 2005, 15:43
He hasnt played a lot of odis.

Naveed
30th January 2005, 18:33
I was going to say Kamran for Hameed but with Younis gone, obviously Kamran for Younis. With respect to Taufeeq and Hameed I could go either way and I'm not sure it will make a difference. Either will be out early so flip a coin.

Raz
30th January 2005, 18:43
Just Kamran for Younis.
And Kamran to bat lower down the order not opening.
Apart from that it should be ok.
