Its an upcoming videogame from Codemasters.

www.playcricket2010.com

Only releasing on PS3 and X360. Looks really good (built from A09 engine so guaranteed to be better than last years game).

I think there are not much changes in the game-play and AI and bowling actions and batting style still looks crap with not so nice looking physics.

Are they serious? That looks exactly like Ashes 09

And why have they chosen Stuart Broad for the cover star? he's one of the most unlike-able people in cricket

Cracket

Graphics are the same but gameplay has been improved upon. Its base is patched PC version of A09, which received nothing but good reviews when it came to core physics.

And yeah Stuart Broad is a weird choice. Should have continued with Kevin Pieterson.

To be honest I was not really impressed with the way transmission and codies handled ashes, I like both the patches they provided but still the basic physics of bowling actions, batting shots and stepping is really very very artificial which kills the whole fun. Of-course it is not the problem of physics in engine which was some how fixed by the patches but the basic animations were of very bad quality.

why not for PC? :(

According to interview with Planetcricket, they said it was because of losses they got from piracy and overall sales were not high with A09 on PC, even though A09 was highest selling game for Codemasters last summer, means most sales came from PS3/X360.

Rest of interview here :

http://www.planetcricket.net/forums/cricket-games-news/exclusive-planetcricket-international-cricket-2010-q-65635.html

Some important points :

*John – The team have added a player rating which acts like a sportsmanship rating that is affected by quitting etc. There will be something there for players to see what other players are like when choosing who to play against.

*IC2010 has had all difficulty settings tweaked and we’ve added a HUD off mode for expert players. No meters, no pitch-point, no bars etc. This is all part of an overhaul of how the bowling works, which we’ve moved on from the “point and click” nature of previous games.

*The addition of analogue shot power is massive: essentially beforehand you were always aiming to hit the boundary with ground and loft shots, and the timing had a huge influence on how successful that was. With analogue shot power, you can specify how hard you want to hit it: aiming for boundary, dropping it short or aiming for a ¾ loft over the infield’s head. The strength with which you try to hit the ball will affects the timing window, so you can play safer, softer shots until you’ve built the confidence to smack it over the stands.

*if the batsman requires lots of runs and has limited wickets in hand facing lots of fielders on the boundary you can drop the power down and place the ball somewhere between the in and outfield thereby trying to steal two runs instead of a single.

18th May 2010, 14:43
.. yet again, it's only released for PAL. Maybe Codemasters just don't realize the fact that with the amount of British/Pakistani/Indian/Australian/etc people living in the NTSC regions (US, Canada, etc.), the game will sell HUGE there too. They're keeping it only for the UK. Stupid of them. Dumb, dumb people.

There's no way to 'convert' PAL games and play them on your NTSC Xbox 360's either.

Just one of those times I wish I had a PS3.. for these two sole reasons - free online gaming and region-free gaming as well.

Yeah, you're in Singapore right? I've seen Ashes Cricket '09 in a lot of game stores in Singapore.. the PS3 one of course, since PS3 games are region-free. Check out Courts Megastore in Tampines.. they had it there.

Well if you get a PS3, then you can buy a game from any region and play. PS3 games aren't region locked like X360 games are. So only solution for people in US, Canada is to buy a ps3 lol

It will be released on June 18 in the UK. No details yet about the Australia release. And you can import it from HMV, the cheapest option by far

http://hmv.com/hmvweb/displayProductDetails.do?ctx=280;-1;-1;-1;-1&sku=357982

Preordering costs about 48$ with shipping to the U.S.

Lot of other UK gaming sites that will ship to US. Ebay is also there but HMV is the cheapest option so far.

At least not with Test matches if you're bowling xD

Well i bought it as planned yesterday (only £30 in sainsbury) So far i have looked in the book seems interesting, batting from behind the batsmen, look around at the field. and then i did basic batting tutorial. maybe it was because i was ponting but the 6's were flying easy. i will play later today after the match but at the moment it seems easy batting. and only Australia and England have proper names. Afridis batting is better then his bowling (prob because of T20 world cup)

The game isn't that bad, the action cam is cool and overall it's a bit better than the Ashes one from last year. Still haven't tried online play but for the most part I enjoyed the little bit I've played so far.

Anyone willing to provide us with an in-depth review of this game?

From the little I have seen - it seems the same old rubbish with new camera angles.

The bowling actions are too generic in nature - in fact they come across as robotic. The batting styles are not personalized and are equally generic. Cricketing games will only improve once developers pay attention to minute details.

I bought it played it just as you described it. gets boring very quickly. i was playing a test match and had to defend and try and play slow to make it realistic but can easily score 15-20 runs in an over that too on hard dificulty.

Well, this game is by no doubt currently the best one out so far.
Compared to Ashes Cricket 09 its very similar but with a lot of fixes and new features. If you have Ashes Cricket 09, don't buy it. If you don't, its a brilliant game to play offline from what I've heard.

I played the game for 5 days. Here's my honest opinion :

Online sucks. Don't get this game if you want to play online with anybody.

Offline/Single Player is GREAT. I love the new cam, turn off the Hud and it makes you feel like you are right there on the pitch and it is nearly next to impossible to bat well with hud off on hard, you only have a split second to decide what direction (and the force of that direction like if you are hitting the ball with force or just driving it with a touch) and on what footwork (frontfoot or backfoot) will you play the shot.

Yes, exactly like real life, but the difference is it is much harder to translate that to a ps3 controller. In real life you just move your body+bat but in the same amount of time you have to perfectly press the right combination of buttons in a split second or might as well declare the match. This will take loads of practice to be good at.

For now I'm just having fun with minimal hud (this shows where the bowl will bounce at when the bowler starts the run up) on hard, very challenging and fair, you are bound to have some realistic matches.

So if you really want a good offline experience (and can live with jumbled incorrect names) get it, if not wait till next year. Its the World Cup year and Coddies and EA Sports both will come out with their cricket games and the competition will ensure both those games are much better than IC10.
