Tino Best fined for beamers
 

Tino Best, the West Indies fast bowler, has been fined 50% of his match fees for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the second Test against Sri Lanka at Kandy. Best was found guilty of a Level 1 Code of Conduct breach. Mike Procter, the match referee found that Best's conduct was not 'within the spirit of the game.'

In this particular instance the offence was related to the bowling of fast high full-pitched deliveries, or beamers, for which Best was suspended from bowling in the second innings of the match after bowling two such deliveries. He was also warned in the first innings for bowling one fast high full-pitched delivery.

"Players need to be careful that they do not bowl in this manner. It has no place within the laws or spirit of the game," said Procter in an ICC press release.

All Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand and a maximum penalty of 50% of a player's match fee. The charge was brought by on-field umpires Simon Taufel and Tony Hill, TV umpire Tyrone Wijewardene and fourth umpire Gamini Silva.

Procter reached his conclusion after a hearing attended by the umpires, Best and Tony Howard, the West Indies team manager.

The problem with Best is that he does it regularly. He did it in the Pak series and to do it 3 times in one Test is unforgivable. However Lee should also have been punished.

Lee also does it regularly. First against NZ. Then against Razzaq toget revenge(for which I think he should've been fined) then again against NZ. And then to Marcus Trescothick. During Pakistan's tour of Australia when Razzaq nicked ball and umpire gave him not out, The ICC didn't say McGrath's mouth even it was against umpires decision. In the same series when Danish Kaneria got the wicket of Clarke, he just said "F#*k off" (compared to McGrath's big mouth), Kaneria got fined(I think the whole match fee). This is simple racistness against Blacks & Asians or ICC don't have guts to say any thing against whites. ICC Sucks. If I were Tino Best, I would've gone straight into the court.

Actually Sohaib, Danish didn't say anything to Clarke, he pointed at MArtyn and stared him down. Martyn being the baby he is, complained(like he did when Pathan made fun of him in vb finals).

Plus Lee boweld two beamers at Razzaq, and did not get fined or warned...just some stupid same crap in the paper who he apologizes and it is a mistake(even though his 5th offence). ICC are just a big joke, no equality whatsoever. I hope one day a player wears a black arm band to similar teh death of equality from the ICC(like Olonga did in the WC to Zim govt).

Just another example of one rule for the 'Ghorey' and another for the Asian players...

Will any of the English or Australians get fined, or even suspended for the slow over rates in the first test?

Will Warne get warned for his 'over appealing' and questioning the umpires decision, by standing for nearly a minute and pressurising the umpire?

Will anyone question Lee's diving catch? You can bet if that was a pakistan there would be 'remarks' from the commentators questioning if he scraped the bowl on the grass as he dived...

Waheed its interesting what you say about about Warne's excessive appealing. Inzi was banned straightaway for one Test for over appealing in the Bangalore test yes its ok for Warne to appeal for as long as he wants and for how many times he wants. Double standards or what!

in the Warne's incident, Aleemd Dar was the umpire & i am glad that Dar didn't get pressurized by OZs who were almost all over him on every 2nd delivery.

on beamers, well Lee bowled the attempted beamer to Kavin & almost got him lbw. i think Lee have started bowling beamers on purpose.
