I can watch him and AB all day, such elegance and style !
I can watch him and AB all day, such elegance and style !
iam eagerly waiting to see how he goes in TESTS in ENGLAND , the WORLD T20 and TESTS in AUS later
ths r da biggies i so wanna see him perform well in
for now hopin he gets a 10th in da ODI come saturday
Not entirely, but England should be a significant consideration with regards to a batsman
With Anderson, Broad, Finn and co. being extremely good there, I agree
i think hussey is da only guy who averages 50 or more in both formats rite now.....trott's odi average has fallen a bit....but he can get back thr again with 1 or 2 knocks....amla can easily get thr imo....because if am not wrong he averaged 25 ish in his first 15 tests...so he has been performin damn well to have reached 47 ish in 50 odd tests....and imo it will only improve if he continues to perform well
Moreso than the identity of the bowlers is the whole swing thing, which has been the scourge of many :sehwag
and his odi stats r anyway second to none...and for a guy who was not considered as a ONE DAY player his strike rate of 92 ish is scary good
and cricinfo recently published a article whr i saw how amla averages the best in asian conditions against spin of all da overseas batsmen.....kallis and de villiers hav done really well 2
Yeah that was a decent innings, it was an absurdly flat wicket though. I get the feeling the upcoming three-test series will force some spicy wickets, which will sort the men from the boys, on both sides
His Test stats since he made his ODI debut are 34 matches avg of 56 and 11 100's while being the #1 ODI batter in the world.
but its great dat he can play both ways now.....dats why i say giv him some time in t20's and he can be atleast VERY GOOD thr 2....

Even if its not meant to be this thread has all the ingredients of epic jynx thread. I predict Hashim Amla failing in every of his innings in NZ and op you are partly responsible for that.
Mashallah he's soo humble and an amazing role model. An inspiration for everyone. He's performing good so far in NZ, great catch in the last over. May Allah bless him in this life and in the hereafter.
We'll see, I will remind you of this thread after each Amla failure.
P.S NZ start times are the best for people who live on the east coast, prime time Television.
Enjoy your trip, I will be watching inshallah time permitting.
Oh well Amla gone for 8.
Peace in the Middle East!
OP is to blame for this, expect a lot more of the same from Amla and OP you are responsible.
This post is in fond memory of a person called 'Shickelgruber'. I am sure wherever he is, must be proud of this:-
The day d last tree died, d last river poisond & d last fish caught,we'll realize we can't eat money
The great one will come back strong.
Best thing about Proteas, when Amla fails then someone else steps in. ;)
Peace in the Middle East!
OP should shoulder blame. Jinx thread.
How many batsmen can do this?
'The uploader has not made this video available in your country'
He is No.1 in ODIs and his average of 55 did not just appear out of thin air..
He worked hard for it and if there are better players than him in South Africa then why don't they have Averages and Rankings above H.Amla?
I don't understand how people can say that he is over-rated....
Those people are just simply jealous(No-Offence)..
"People Laugh At Me Because I'm Different,I Laugh At Them Because They Are All The Same"
Amla is a good batsman but when push comes to shove, Smith, Kallis and AB are the proven match-winners in this team
amla has a cold and may not play tomorrow....tho ab said he expects him and smith(arm injury) to play.....lets see
Hopefully a cold wont prevent the great one from padding up.
today he will atleast get a 50
hopefully he peaks at right time.. (english tour ;) )
Maybe Virat Kohli who must be very close to the number one ODI ranking breathing down Amla's neck will inspire a brilliant knock?
plays off a maiden from Mills.
0* (8) no rush at all. Making me nervous though.
off the mark
smashes one uppishly through point for :4

Another :4 for Amla. Pressure on him after Kallis departs early again.
looking much better today. Leaving balls outside the off. 18 off 18 with 4 fours. All of them timed perfectly.

hit three fours to Southee in a row! I just love when Southee gets hit!
I WAS A GENIUS
hits his 6th 4.
Putting on a real clinic in 4 hitting. Cuts, cover drives, on the up, whip off the legs, straight drive.
He just cut one so hard that it would have hurt a fielder if they tried to field it.
7 fours in his 32* (28)

Vaughan-esque pull for 3.
plays his second maiden of this innings. Still somehow maintaining an SR of 95+. Power of the :4
closing in on a fifty here. On 48 in 49.
Fifty for the great one. Well played. Almost every shot in the book.
Gets a top edge off a sweep but it lands safely!!
OH GOODNESS LOL and he's been dropped off a sitter.
Finally some luck going his way.
I'm not sure what Amla was trying there? Playing ugly hoicks should be only for etc. Not

slowed down a little. Getting bored it almost looks like. 66 in 76. This would be racing along for others
Amla really being more patient since the drop catch. 79* SR close to 90 still.
Brilliant batsman! Good average and has very nice shots in his Arsenal. He is also playing a very good knock today!
In the 90ies now. Got a brilliant yorker from McKay. 91mph just missing off.
for 92 in 107. Good innings but missed out on his 10th hundred.
Have to say that the first half of the innings was much better than the second. Looked tired and lazy in the second half.
Oh well, not a jinx thread after all.
Just 8 short of a century, just another day at the office for Amla. Whippy and the rest of the haters have disappeared.
I followed the innings up until Amla got his 50 and the Kiwi commies were at awe by the masterful strokes played by the legend. Despite OP's best attempts at jinxing the legend comes through in flying colors .
I am not a hater. I have never been a hater of anyone, I'm just not like that. I am in this case a rater. But I have been saying for a good year or two that Amla is the fourth best batsman (still good) in the Springbok lineup and I stick by it.
First or Second best in ODIs
Who cares what Whippy thinks, Whippy ones thought and argued vigorously that Swann is the best spinner in the world Bias views are bias.
Hm, when was that discussion last held? A year ago, when he was? Ajmal surpassed him this January and I was holding my hands up the same day, so no point trolling me really. Anyway that is off-topic.
Smith, Kallis, de Villiers, Amla. Quality South Africa batsmen - in that order.
Well quite frankly from 2009-mid 2011 he really was.Who cares what Whippy thinks, Whippy ones thought and argued vigorously that Swann is the best spinner in the world Bias views are bias.
Anyways stop derailing the thread please, this thread is about Amla and his performance in New Zealand yet you keep bringing Smith, Kallis and Abraham. :whatsupwiththat
Haters gonna hate.
Did you also find it really ironic the poster ramballed on about bias?Well-argued opinions aren't important, only trolls are important
I mean, was that the literal definition of irony?
Well, it certainly beats any other spinners performances during that time phase. You also cease to mention he ran through the 2009 Australian side, the 2011 Australian side and also did remarkably well in South Africa which is known for being a spinners graveyard. Oh, and he absolutely demolished India's so called "Play spin with ease" batting lineup in the Oval.Swann was never the best spinner in the world, on what basis did you claim he was the best spinner? On his performance in his backyard against a inexperience Pakistan, Bangla and a Sri Lankan team led by Dilshan?
Do you want to compare that to Ajmal's performances in the same year or Singh's?
Greeks please stop derailing this thread, I know its hurts you English fans for not stealing AB, Kallis and Amla from SA but simmer down son. You will be okay.
I think frankly Whippy is one of the most objective posters here.
If he is defined as bais who the hell are those people claiming Ali > Trott, Hafeez = Cook and Gul > Anderson/Broad?
