Why was Ryan ten Doeschate not playing for Netherlands recently?

I just saw on cricinfo that Ryan ten Doeschate is in India for IPL 5 so I am a litle bit surprised to not have seen him playing with the Netherlands in T20 World cup qualifications.
He was also absent in the short series agaisnt Afghanistan.

I originally tought he was injured, but looks like it is not the case.

Don't tell me he is looking to play for a test playing nation (England?)??

Has become a t20 specialist. Since the 2011 WC, he played in IPL 4, then played the FLt20 in England, played the Champions League, moved to Hong Kong for the 6s tournament, then in the t20 cup in Zim followed by SA's domestic t20 league and has now landed at the IPL again.

Even then, the qualifications recently played in UAE were for T20 World Cup, so he should haveen playing them...

He did not even played for qualification tournament for T20 WC or before that ODIs/intercontinental cup matches because.. he has opted for $$ playing in New Zealand league / BIg bash and then SA T20 and now IPL... instead of 100$ per match he has opted for 1000$ per match..

FYI. He was not even Dutch.. he is South African his grandparents were dutch so dutch board asked him to represent NL , for which he agreed , but obviously he would never get as much $ as he gets playing for leagues , so now days he has told the board to only play major tournaments like WC T20 Wc ect..

I saw a interview in which he said the Dutch people don't care that Holland did not qualify to WCT20. Which is correct.

You must understand that the dutch people don't care about cricket. Maybe 1-2 percent cares and the rest don't care. They might even not know they have a team.

So I understand him. Why should he say no to $$$$ and play for Netherland when they don't even care about cricket. I understand him, he won't be a cricketer forever and he has a life. Need to make as much as possible.

This lad has a bright future. Should look forward to play for England. Despite Morgan.

An Irish born kid, who played for Ireland, and also against England, and now playing for England. He has improved a lot from the day he joined England. So, by that, I meant that the same can happen with Ten Doeschate.

Why would he help the Dutch qualify in cricket, when he has himself to think of? AND. The kid's from South Africa for crying out loud! Probably wants to play for England if he can. Already plays county cricket. For Essex.

IPL$$$ + Future chance to play for Englad = Does not make a difference to him if he plays for Netherland now or never. What he makes in 3 seasons of IPL...he will never make if he plays for Netherland (cricket ..not soccer of course) till age 40.
Besides what happened to theory of giving new talent a chance........He is giving new talent a chance to showcase thier skills is what he can always say ;)

No one in Pakpassion is in a position to say where he should or not play.

Hefty pay and he is doing fine.

Little sad in my opinion he hasn't been given a chance with south africa. He could have easily slotted in at seven or six in the ODI line up. And could have been useful in tests too. He deserved at least a chance. I guess perhaps it's become apparent he's not going to get a chance to play for SA, so he's given up on Holland and now just focusing on getting enough money to live off when he has to retire.
