Imran Nazir Hits 157 from 41 Balls

Imran was playing for Lashings yesterday against Beckenham.

Despite the fact that it was against a club side still worth mentioning that he hit an amazing 157 off 41 balls with 19 sixes!

His last 11 sixes came from 12 balls!!!

why do these players play against village cricketers if they are good enough to get into most domestic t20 teams around the world.

Yawn! Same batsman is useless against any bowler who is slightly decent.

Don't know why people are obessed with pathetic players like Nazir.

I think we should give him one last run in our T20 side, hopefully for the T20 worldcup.

Needs to be included in our t20. He will always be great in the field n if he contributes with the bat 3/10 its enough to win a t20 game.

It was an 8 ball over to be honest.

Coming back to the topic, not impressed at all. However, deserves a go in the training camp for T20's vs Aus

a lil tip for Beckenham ...

Bowl him a couple of short pitch halwa type deliveries and let him hit a few fours, and then surprise him with a quick yorker ... 9 out 10 times he will either be bowled or get lbw out.

Repeat this process 100 times a day and you will get the same result. That's his entire story.

Imran Nazir will forever be my favourite batsman but he is not really good enough to represent Pakistan anymore. We could have made something out of him by persisting with him but right now is not the time for it. Thats the sad story of Pakistan cricket, we get good cricketers but we cant develop 'em and once they hit rock bottom, we try to resurrect 'em which defies logic, time to move on buddy.

Shazabe is also bowling very well for a club team, maybe he is a potential replacement for Ajmal? I also remember Yasir Arafat used to bat really aggressively when he played club cricket in Scotland. Should get him in the ODI side as an opening bat I guess.

Looks like the future is bright.

He's been good in BPL and FBt20, And our T20 batting is so weak, we don't use PP overs, Imran Nazir is good enough to provide us good starts at a Better S/R then most of our other Players.

Look at his recent T20 performances in the Faysal bank T20 and recent BPL before making such a comment.

2nd highest run getter in BPL followed by 2nd highest run getter in Faysal Bank T20.

He was never a failure at T20 even at international level. Similar average to AB Devilours in T20 International and a better strike rate. He is a must for T20. A must.

Should never have been dropped from the T20 scene. Its been almost 2 and half years since he last played an international T20 and that im afraid is 2 and half years too long.

This guy is made for T20 and is much better than the current rubbish we have at the top of the innings. Hafeez is a damm joke so is Khalid Latif

Nothing, is this! My brother, infuriated by your post, tells me to state here that he broke Brian Lara´s record of 375 way before Matthew Hayden did.

even though am not a huge fan of sloggers , he does have a place in the current Pak LOI team imo

Let him open with Azhar . Dont expect him to be consistent , but if he comes off ocassionally he will put the team in good positions for the like of Azhar , Asad & Umer to bulid on . otherwise the top order is going to look too one dimensional .

Laughing at people who are referring to the opposition as a pub/village team.

Why don’t you guys try hitting 157 from 41 balls – even if it is in your back garden?

The fact Imran Nazir can score at such a rate proves he still has what it takes to be a T20 player. Don’t forget, we have players in the Pak T20 squad who score 10 runs off 60 balls only to hand the match to the opposition from a winning position. Imran Nazir cannot fare any worse.

Oh and frankly speaking, 157 off 41 playing the minnow of minnows is exactly what I expect from Imran Nazir.

    Well done.

Neither of them play T20 Cricket so I have no idea what point you are trying to make.

    No we dont.

T20 team definitley needs a shake up but not with the introduction of a mindless TTF slogger.

We need to find players who can play according to the situation like KP ABDV etc do, aggression but with a brain.

The best way to do this is give decent youngsters a go for a good stretch of games.

    Wasn’t the point.

If Imran hit 57 off 41 you lot would be saying how crap Nazir is cos he couldn't pummel a pub team, but instead, he smashes 157 of 41 and some of you are undermining his performance.

Like I said, try hitting 157 off 41 balls in your back garden. It’s a lot harder than you think despite playing a pub/village/club/county/national team.

Pakistan team needs aggression, Imran Nazir fits the bill – this is my point.

So did that make him Pakistan's premier t20 batsman?

i dont rate random games against random oppositions....

    however,

imran nazir is a very special attacking player and if we want to restore that "special" charisma and charm and aggression that our country has built a reputation for, we have to give up this defensive mindset and bring nazir, kammy, azhar mahmood, rana, etc into our t20 world cup squad for one big last run in september.

i just pray pcb open their eyes and open the door

if you are not attacking you are defending. And if you are defending you are losing.

He has always been all style but no substance, he could have been one of the best LOI batsman going but brainless shot selection has been his downfall.

that was a one off , nazir has been butchering bowling attacks ever since t20 cricket waslaunched in pakistan , even b4 that , he is tailor made for that form of the game and actually has a better t20 international record than the likes of ab devilliers and shewag , he should never have been dropped from the t20 side.
he should always be the first name on the team sheet when picking pakistans t- 20 team , if the selectors think that he isnt good enough for the shortest format than they are either blind or plain retarted ..

For T20 I don't see an issue with giving him another chance. Its not as if hes been give a long run in that side. I can only remember him being in World Cup in 2007 and a one or two other matches since then.

His International t20 stats are virtually the same as Razzaq - with a better strike rate as well.

And considering Razzaq is out of favour and limited youngsters with the big hitting ability required. He should definitely be in the t20 side. (ODI he should stay away from)

You're missing the point. He has a good eye, we already know this. He's played great cameo's in the past internationally.

But let's get the facts right. The team he played against (Kings & Lewisham Hospitals) is just a bunch of nobody's. Heck, even in his own team (which is supposed to be the strongest out there), only two players would even be considered for selection in the Bangladesh T20 team, himself and Arafat. Secondly, I would love to know how big the boundaries are and how many of those 'sixes' would be easy catches in international cricket.

OK, let's say it was a flawless innings and he didn't give the bowlers a chance. How does that translate to international success? There's a big difference between even domestic standard and international standard, this is a club game! We've seen people like Shahzaib, Raja, Latif, Zia e.t.c. dominate domestic bowlers but fail miserably on the big stage.

My point is, this innings is absolutely pointless and I don't know why people are making such a big deal out of it. Imran Nazir may still have a shot at the T20 WC. But to use this as evidence to support that case is absurd.
