[Videos] Adele- The best female Singer around right now?

Might be a bit far stretched but she is amazing! I don't know why but her songs bring a different kind of pleasure... Sweet Pain. Sweet because her voice is very sweet and pain because her songs make you sad.
Her songs helped me a lot during CPA exams. I would listen to her songs to relax!

    What PPers think of her?

She's brilliant. In my eyes, she is.

    I rate her above Beyonce.

Her control and emotion is unmatchable.

Adele puts a lot of meaning and emotion in but technically is not that special. In the eighties there were several women as good, but singing with emotion and meaning is a rarity now which is why so many people respond to her.

Last night I watched a girl named Esperanza Spalding perform - the best singer I've ever heard, and she plays furious double bass at the same time. Jaw-dropping skill. I've never seen anyone so deep in the groove before - as though she was a conduit to some meta-universe which music spills out of and into ours.

Among her peers, she is rated as one of the most technically gifted singers. I have never heard someone say Adele is not technically gifted.

She is able to hit notes at will that most can only dream of.

Plus, her ability to sing with emotion which puts her over the top.

Ive heard a few people saying that but to my untrained musical ear she sounds very good. Totally agree with the rest of your post though. Always thought of her as being a little ovverrated at first until I decided to play her album in a grey rainy day while being stuck in traffic. I then understood what the hype was about. She just doesnt have that edge that made amy winehouse so so good.

I tried very hard to like her but somehow never connected. She seemed pretty ordinary to me, sure she can hit the low notes pretty good but so can others, she seemed nothing more than most of the black gospel singers. I think the fascination with her has to do with how a white girl can sing like a black woman, e.g. Aretha Franklin. Same phenomena can describe the enigma behind Amy Winehouse.

Because of her weight, she can sing certain notes better. So, there are positives for having fat-belly, you see.

First time I am hearing a celebrity is getting sympathies cuz of being overweight. No one likes overweight people in showbiz #fact. I would say she is successful despite being fat not the other way around.. She is successful because of her voice.

If she was a model or an actress it would have been different. In those fields you have to look good to survive, or be like one of those funny fat girls like Melissa McCarthy in Bridesmaid, constantly portraying the part of a dumb person. In singers, its not that way, our society has become PC to the point that we would feel ashamed to criticize her or not "absolutely love her" because what if someone accuse us of discrimating against fat people. Her voice is pretty ordinary IMO. Not melodic like Mariah or Whitney, not as forceful and boisterous as Aretha Frankin or Janis Joplin. She does'nt even have the range of Celine Dion or Christina Aguelira. She is pretty good, but I don't think she deserves the hype and adulation. Her song writing skills is the only part she excels in.

No, Fat girls don't get easy way.. No matter if you're singer, model or actress you can't be a fat in showbiz industry. If it was the case like you mentioned channel's Kartz wouldn't have so openly criticized her and say "Adele is too fat".. Just listen to her interviews, she says people make fun of her weight all the time.
Not only she's good but she very versatile as well and Skyfall proves that.

I don't like Adele because I find her voice and lyrics annoying and that four-same-piano-chords-to-the-bar style (started by Coldplay and now widely copied) dull to listen to.

Am I right? Millions of people think she has a lovely voice and is a songwriting genius.

The only honest things you can say about art are "I like it" or "I don't like it".

The most overplayed artist of all time IMO, to the extent that her songs, which are pretty good, quickly find themselves out of favour with me because I cant go 3 seconds without hearing the bloody things. Rolling in the Deep is easily the most annoying song of all time in this regard, must've heard it hundreds of times on radio alone.

Tearful Adele postpones entire Las Vegas residency

Adele has postponed her entire Las Vegas residency, just 24 hours before the opening night.

"I'm so sorry, but my show ain't ready," the star told fans in a tearful update on Instagram.

"Half my team have Covid and it's been impossible to finish the show," she said, adding that "delivery delays" had also played havoc with her plans.

She was due to play the first of 24 concerts at the Caesars Palace's Colosseum on Friday.

Announced late in November, the Weekends With Adele series was scheduled to have the singer performing two shows every weekend until April.

Tickets ranged from $85 (60) to $685 (500), and Adele was forecast to make more than 500,000 per performance.

They would have been her first live concerts in five years.

Along with two dates in London's Hyde Park this summer, they are the only shows she has announced to promote her blockbuster fourth album, 30.

Speaking on Instagram, Adele said she had been "awake for 30 hours" trying to rescue the production, but had simply "run out of time".

"It's been impossible to finish the show," she added. "I can't give you what I have right now and I'm gutted."

Adele also apologised to fans who had already arrived to Las Vegas for the opening weekend.

"I'm sorry, it's last minute. I'm so upset and I'm really embarrassed and I'm so sorry to everyone that's travelled again."

She added: "We're going to reschedule all the dates, we're on it right now. And I'm going to finish my show. I want to to get it to where it's supposed to be [but] we've been up against so much and it just ain't ready."

Many fans have been supportive on social media - saying it was the right decision and wishing her and her team well.

But some are facing losing hundreds of dollars from flight and hotel bookings.

Gillian Rowland-Kain, 32, was already on her flight to Las Vegas from New York for Friday's opening night show when she found out about the cancellation via social media.

"I was furious that Adele waited so last minute to make this call," she said. "I recognise it's not a call any artist wants to make but she would've known yesterday that the show wouldn't be ready by tomorrow.

"Her lack of notice is astounding. I'm angry and frustrated."

Ms Rowland-Kain, who is from Brooklyn and travelling to Vegas with her twin sister, added that while she recognised the impact of Covid, the last-minute cancellation felt "like a slap in the face".

Josh Chavis, from Kansas City, says his wife Heather paid almost $1,800 (1,300) for her hotel and flights to Vegas for a show this weekend.

While Heather was on hold with the hotel company, Mr Chavis told the BBC she was disappointed - and even Adele announcing it a few days sooner "would have made all the difference" in terms of refunds.

"We recognise that things are hard for everyone, but this is a huge misstep on the part of both the performer and those responsible for putting the show together," he said.

The star was previously forced to cancel the final two dates of her previous tour, at Wembley Stadium in 2017 after damaging her vocal cords.

While Adele has apparently been beset by production problems and illness within her crew, other Vegas shows have been running as normal.

Three weeks ago, Katy Perry smoothly rolled out her own residency on the strip, to largely positive reviews.

Her elaborate and playful production - which she has dubbed "Perry Playland"- includes oversized talking furniture, a giant red rocking horse, a dancing alarm clock and a bra that serves beer on tap.

Billboard magazine described the two-hour show as "part fantasy, part hallucination and thoroughly high-camp", while the Las Vegas Review-Journal called it a "glorious example of what an unbridled imagination can achieve".
