You cant hate on a player that makes a century in his debut. But then where is Fawad Alam?

Well played Shikar
Hope he continues this form of his for few more games for India if not for few more seasons. His strokes were absolute treat to watch (albeit on a batsmen friendly track against a half decent bowling attack).

It is not often that a debutant comes up with a run a ball hundred, actually a 85 ball hundred here, regardless of conditions or bowlers. It wasn't the sort of wicket where every batsman piled up a lot of runs. If it was Umar Akmal here, this knock would have been hailed as the second coming of Bradman. Give credit where it is due.

Well done to the lad but let's not get ahead of ourselves - one swallow doesn't make a summer. I hope he can replicate his debut many times over but many cricketers have had incredible debuts to then fall off the radar - for example Marsh, Raina, Fawad Alam, Marcus North.

saxena is ordinary compared to rasool
pacers is not a problem , this season we had more pacers then batsmne tbh
kaul is brilliant, pandey, shami, mohit sharma, there is 18 year kid wh8 hit 140k several times his name is rajpoot I think
imo pankaj singh right now is good enough for tests but he is ignored for some reason...
-
18th March 2013, 21:57 #343
@Gabbar - True. Dhawan will have much sterner tests ahead for him henceforth and will have to play at least half good as he did in debut inning to cement his place permanently. ATM, I am like many Indian fans happy to see the back of two long standing non-performing senior openers of our team for these new set of batters. Hope he keeps improving his technique and temperament for tougher conditions

@amlafan79- Pankaj singh can be deadly provided we produce greentop wickets. His pace though not great but still faster than Bhuvi. TBH, I am hearing about Rasool only recently (since that India A call up against England). I have to follow him for a year to really understand his potential. But it seems so far he has done a good job at whatever opportunity that he has got to play at.

my point is talent is not problem
next yeat kids like kaul will surpass him we just need to groom them well and let them beecome world class
we have enough pacers in domestic cricket to atleast replace iahant and din da in test side I have no doubts abt that
bhuvan is far from best at domestic level and even he looks much much better then ishant .

Because we'll be judged on South African tour rather than Champions' trophy. We've faced enough humiliation in England and Australia, it's time to show to the world that we still can compete. Preparing the youngsters for the ultimate test is better than winning a 'Champions' trophy'. We already have the World Cup, remember ;)

-

Seems like a combination of both Sehwag and Gambhir so far. Or perhaps I'm just picking the latter because he's left handed too, it'll take me a few more games to figure this guy out completely. But is a damn good prospect for sure. Much better than his left-handed opening counterparts elsewhere in the world already - such as Warner or Jamshed, and the like. Maybe even Alviro Peterson.
Have some Sehwag in your life.

Only a super deluded fan would rate Jamshed more than Dhawan on the evidence so far.
Dhawan has scored consecutive hundreds against better bowling attacks in more testing conditions compared to Jamshed's hundreds.
He also ripped it on his test debut where as Jamshed has been poor in tests so far.
Also, Dhawan has the ability to rotate strike unlike Jamshed.

The Shikhar Dhawan Thread
Tried to find if there was any thread about him but couldn't find one.
Shikhar Dhawan what a solid and stylish left handed batsman. Never saw him before CT 2013. That's what our Pak team is lacking i.e. a fearless batsman who could play freely.
